  1. You've never driven a small truck with large V8 have you?  290 is about perfect size for the MJ for power/weight ratio. Heck, I'm going to a 290/AX-15 vs 360/T18A to save fuel! And that's in a Stepside J10 Honcho (which is too pretty to use as a "real" truck)
  2. Get the solar charged ones. Plug and play for @$17 each (motion sensor kind at Harbor Freight) and no wiring!
  3. Not really. Compared to AX15 it is!
  4. Sounds like a crack in the MAP sensor hose (mine made horrible noises and ate double the gas it should have.) Other possibility is CPS may be set too low or intake gasket sucking air and making the gasket act like a reed valve
  5. Get some leatherette button tuft for upholstery and glue it to the roof. Gives you more headroom and it won't collect dust!
  6. 33/9.50/15 with 5 1/2" front and SOA rear lift.
  7. Is it an Eagle or a Concord 4 dr with an XJ axle swapped in? (I'm making my '82 Spirit into an SX4)
  8. Unlike old Chevy trans, the AW4 and AX-15 and AX-5 need the output shaft AND the tail cone swapped to make 2wd to 4wd. This requires taking the transmission apart from the front and pulling the output shaft (it goes in through the back of the trans case) to do it. Miteaswell rebuild the trans while you are at it.
  9. Go to an AX-15 with a Dakota 2.5L bell conversion. AX-5 is kind of weak
  10. Same deal with Delo 15W40, Amsoil 15W40 and NAPA 15W50 synthetic. These are more like an industrial engine so they prefer good zinc loaded oils.
  11. Nope! Not reliable at all! Mine only went 470,000 miles before it lost compression! :brows:
  12. I used to have people ask what size V8 I had in my '86 MJ (2.5L 5 speed) because it was dialed in so great.
  13. Maybe find one that is damaged to cut up and make a mold from?

    Rage!!!!!

I use their online lookup database a lot to get part numbers that our computer doesn't show, then cross them to our numbers and save a sale with a customer. (did one for $571 for a clutch we "didn't have" that was in stock! :fs1: )
  15. 96 has a LOT of computer issues that sometimes need the computer replaced (I'd suggest a '97) to get them running right or re-flashed with the factory machine. Coolant sensor is another problem. Cam sensor is in the dist. Bad thermostat (too cold) will eat more fuel because it will switch back and forth from lean to extra fuel (like a choke is on)
  16. It doesn't have to be just the newer one to work. '72 to '91 all fit for strokers. 707 rods are stronger than the later ones. (just don't try the V8 ones! They are too narrow at the crank) I have an '83 whole motor for sale for $150 (still runs) but it's close to Seattle (Left coast)
  17. I have an '82 Spirit I'm turning into an Eagle.
  18. And the other half ignore you or look for new ways to piss you off! I had to deal with one in Mission, BC. My friend drove me to there so I could make a payment on my license (I had unpaid tickets and couldn't renew my license till they were paid, but I was forced into bankruptcy because I had no license and couldn't work so they were forced to take a payment plan) Cow behind the counter did everything she could to avoid giving me a temp license and then she followed me out the door and had a hissy fit when I got into my car (which my buddy drove up there for me and she ASSumed I drove there) and called the cops. Cops had me pulled over down the hill in front of the pub where I went to pick up my buddy (who had a valid license and a big thirst) b*@$£ lied and said she saw me drive up, so I asked what direction did my car come from? (We came through the back of the lot) Cop called her a liar because he had been parked in front for an hour before that doing paperwork and checking plates. "Have a good day sir!" and he sent me on my way. She even went so far as to tell the court she saw me driving and I was assessed another ticket which I had thrown out along with several tickets from a cop who sent them without even pulling the car over (hard to miss a '55 Pontiac in the '80s) when I wasn't even driving. (I wasn't even in town so it was likely my brother or my ex-wife's BF driving)
  19. I think what ruined their day was the lack of drugs they could bust you for.

    CL wow!

Uh oh! Did he sell it? I was going to see what these look like with a stepside box. I was thinking about putting the '90 Chev short/step box I have on mine. Image Not Found

    WTB 3.4 motor

Too far away. I have a 2.8 V6 near Seattle for $200 and it comes with the EFI from an '88 Chev celebrity (I don't know if it will work 100%. I know the coil pak has to be moved)
  22. I agree. The post sizzles for a sec till it makes contact and vrrroom!
  23. But you have to buy a windshield anyways. What's that cost?
  24. When I click on the link to view all unanswered posts, I get ALL the posts back to when the site was started with no replies. I'd like to clean them out once and for all so I get all the recent threads with no posts. You know. Like a set point in a video game.
