Project “Tomahawk”
Comanche SS replied to ghetdjc320's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Looking good! What’s left before the trip and when does it start? -
Worked for me now, maybe it was down for a bit when I checked initially. Not a $6500 truck.
-
Shows unavailable already unfortunately
-
It’s pushed in, the bracket should only be bent to 90* and yours looks much further than that
-
Yes and yes lol, it’ll need a cage after the 4x4 is done, but I’ll definitely be enjoying it in the meantime now that it runs well
-
Amazing what 4 years has done to this jeep. Stock drivetrain, in a small 2 car garage….To Long travel, LS3, Beams, Full float 9’’ rear in a custom workshop. Hoping the next 4 years are just as strong.

Well, it looks good, going to be stuck inside for the remainder of the week it sounds like waiting on the parts still. That’s alright, the weather will suck here for the next week anyways so I am not complaining..too much lol. here's a photo in the meantime.

stripped caliper bolt head!!
Comanche SS replied to a bum with money's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They are tough ones for sure, weld a nut to it. I have Spares if you want to replace with OEM style instead of Hex head. -
Yep, I have been helping Marc out with his questions throughout his build, he found me awhile back before starting his whole build to get insight…It’s going to be a sweet build
-
Drop a photo when you get one!

I always thought it was panel bond…similar to what they used on the firewall, floor, inner fenders braces etc. I could be vastly wrong though.

iPad dash mount Just some 16GA Stainless wrapped in a cloth, couple bends and push fastened to the bezel. Will be good for gauges, maps, and tunes.

@pizzaman09Makes me impatient to have my MJ make guest appearances at the autoX! Looks like a lot of fun. @TurboedMJ You’ve gotta get one, They are great little cars with tons of power. Simple and cheap to work on thus far.

Have heard of others hiring private investigators, apparently they have some tools and expertise regular civilians don’t…

AA 1990 MJ v8 swap questions
Comanche SS replied to AA1978's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There are many of us who have done the LS route. Myself being one. “Comanche Fun-Runner” Although my build is a bit more extreme than what you mentioned, these builds will be more up your alley: Search these users in the epic forum: @Limeyjeeper - “Comanche Dawn” @ghetdjc320 - “Project Tomahawk” and @70barracuda - “Driving on the street to street truck” Are all great builds to reference also. Some of the most documented LS or LS/AX15 builds on the site. -
Make a Comanche more garage friendly?
Comanche SS replied to NC Tom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You can HO swap it, or 97+ swap it. But truthfully, the renix is pretty easy to diagnose, without any special tools, if you can work a voltmeter, and know what you are looking for. The HO & 97+ swaps are also good options, but a lot of work, and both have pitfalls of there own. -
It always amazes me how well gas cleans…it’s the ultimate degreaser. That nasty diff section spent 2 minutes in the gas bath, with no scrubbing or cleaning of any sort it looks totally usable (although I won’t be) D264B530-2C90-4F8B-9A3E-48837289C95C.mov

I ran 33s with 3.07s 4.0/AX15 truck for years and it was doable. With 4.10’s already….no brainer if you can fit them.
-
It must have lol, it was pretty rough for sure. Will be like new before it goes into my MJ
-
Well, not many updates in terms of the adapters and wheels at the machine shop….So I took on some busy work. Got the front diff stripped down and cleaned, it had legitimiate mud and dirt in there. Luckily, I won't be using any of the old internals, mainly only the housing. The center section is now cleaned out and has a base coat on it just for rust prevention. When the whole front end build is wrapped up everything will get a fresh coat.

I’m pretty much at a standstill while waiting on the wheels & adapters. brakes are bled, can’t do diff sealant without the hubs. Shocks installed. had to let it run for a few minutes since it’s been sitting for awhile, let some fire thru the pipes 🤣 IMG_0221.mov

Project “Tomahawk”
Comanche SS replied to ghetdjc320's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
They tucked it up pretty nice near the trans, I’m impressed. Excited for your truck to come to life, I May have to stop by!
