So my woman was wanting a four wheel drive to get back in forth to work in the snow next year. And of course just so happens i knew where a MJ was.. a good price and supposed to run and drive. It sat for four months the P.O. said after the muffler blew a giant hole in it and it supposed "over heated" he says the gauge is wrong.. we will see about that. after adding a little gas it fired up and killed every mosquito in a 1/4 mile range. I put it in gear and it sat and spun cause of the wet grass and slick tires. four wheel drive it is and she chugged along idling like crap but was running and moving like he said it would. Drove it on the trailer and brought her home. And she hasn't started since! the plan is a very dependable truck (wife will be driving sometimes) to take on be able to drive anywhere. 1989 (not sure if its a base model or whatnot) 4.0 liter. 5 speed. The bumper is for trade for a stock one if anyone is interested. it has a straight body only a couple bad places it came with a stock bumper But the P.O. wasnt able to get the bolt out of the other one so he just cut the bracket off. Now comes the bad as of now.. I think the bumper will hide this on the drivers side but the passenger side is higher now the rockers the drivers side is clean I will be working on this thing almost daily so i hope to really keep up with this to not only share what i learn along the way but to be able to see my progress. I wanna get this thing running right soon so i can do some donuts . :MJ 1: . !! I will leave you with a shot of both of the MJs in my life

does anybody live close to the Marion/Asheville area and wanna do a Flats off road park trip? its has a varity of wheelin options ranging from mild to HELL YEAH! if your close to tennesse i know a good trail right off of I-40. so the rig has to be legal. cause you gotta turn literilly off the highway. the guardrail ends and you cut down a trial into the woods. let me know if anybody is intrested.

I don't see why people would sell their MJ. Just because of a new Cherokee came out the prices of XJ's didnt go up or decrease that i noticed. the new jeep truck could not ever live up to where the MJ is. It would be like saying that a JK is just as good as a CJ-8.

Outlaw Star can you explain what this means?Old Tire Diameter X New Tire Diameter ÷ Current Gear Ratio = Effective Gear Ratio. Effective Gear Ratio is what your truck "acts" and feels like it has. The trick is to plug different available gear ratios into the Current Gear Ratio slot until the final math is as close to stock as possible. unless the stock ratio sucks. in which case I want more gear :D Can't argue with that. thanks guys. now i gotta go do some math

IT WORKED!!   I said heck with it if its that easy i am gonna do it now so i dug a hole in the fourteen inches of snow underneath the truck and pulled it. the C clip was the most difficult thing to remove. mine was just not engaging the whole way. must of had a leak. This fourm is great! thanks so much guys! -

the truck already had most of the stuff done to it. Ive only added the rims so far on it. the previous owner had it for a couple years and it spent most of its time in a shop cause they couldnt figure out why they couldnt get it to shift gears. i bought the truck for $2300. and found that the fluid reservoir was leaking. ive replaced that and it drove fine. I have had to put another one on it since then. Ive had it for a year now and don't ever wanna get rid of it

Crusier you are right about it leaving you sitting when you need it the most. i pulled the battery out of the Comanche and put in the ford we use around the farm and it decided to leave me sitting as well cause the battery went dead. yesterday wasnt my day. Today will be better. I am gonna dig the snow out from under the Comanche and fix the CAD in the snow. next question i have is it gonna kill my MPG's? i mean lets be serious these trucks don't get great MPG's. this is a daily driver truck. mild wheeler. -
