  1. No defrost sucks here in the NW. Mine works and sometimes still isn't enough to keep the windshield clear.
  2. I seem to remember that truck on craigslist.
  3. That's a cool little truck. looks like you got lucky, the truck came out pretty good for having a building fall on it.
  4. :agree: I've got RRO anti wrap perches which are longer and they work great. Only problem with the RRO perches is they come in their bolt on SOA and are a bit expensive,I liked them being bolt on though since they were going on a D35. I'm going to weld them on my D44 when I do the swap.
  5. What special tool is required?if there is one I've never needed it. The trans comes out of an eclipse pretty much the same way as any other FWD. I would just put a new clutch in it. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/article ... ssion.html
  6. This is wrong . there is a minimum gain of 4.5" (D35 w/2.75"tube diam) , then , it's plus whatever height the spring perch over the axle . Mine is 1" for example . My gain would be 5.5" on a SOA with a 2WD The SOA doesn't care if your 4x4 or not . Lift is from where you started to where the end result finishes . Yes , a 2wd is 1" lower than a 4x4 Comanche . But , you will NOT gain extra lift from doing a SOA because your 4x4 . I don't know who started all this , but consider it an urban legend . Measure it !! You we're over thinking it a bit,The OP has a 4X4 so if he went out to his truck and put your 2wd springs in it his truck would then sit about 1 " lower then it does now.
  7. A SOA is gonna give you around 5",if you put on 2wd leaves that should put you around 4"-4.5" vs a stock 4X4
  8. That's a great benefit to owning an MJ we have leafs that offer great stability while still being long enough to give great flex.
  9. I realize that but I went from stock y link to Yj steering which is more of a crossover design and does not change toe in as the suspension moves and didnt notice any difference in how it reacted to bumps. I wonder if its a ZJ thing, I helped a guy do a 5.5" LA on a 97 ZJ and it did handle strange compared to my MJ
  10. 4" vs 6" would require steering modifications , done properly . I'm hoping at 4-5" , the ZJ upgrade will do . I hate bump steer with a passion . I have the WJ conversion on my ZJ with a OTK track bar . On the rear I raised the axle mount for the track bar , no bump steer I ran stock steering at 6.5" with no problems and no bump steer, currently I've been runnning YJ steering with no problems
  11. Only the renix 2.5l was TBI. I agree its not worth the work to do a HO swap especially if you can't do the swap yourself.
  12. Your really not gonna save much going 4" vs 6" at that point pretty much all the same parts are required.
  13. This is wrong, there is no 4.0l with TBI
  14. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=28102&p=283621#p283621
  15. Make sure the cap seals on the bottle correctly. My XJ had a new aftermarket bottle when I got it and it kept boiling over, turned out the cap wasn't sealing right. I put in an OEM bottle and never had another issue.
  16. Not quite as simple as that but yes you could swap in new stuff, the easiest thing would be to buy a Cherokee and swap everything to the truck. If the pistons are frozen the engine doesn't run so how do they know if the 4x4 stuff is messed up?
  17. I think that's why you see a lot of people do this I had the metal so I went all the way back
  18. I wouldn't think that would be neccesary, the holes that are there should be more then adequate. But adding more can't hurt :wrench:
  19. I wouldn't expect a huge strength gain on the drivers side by having the other bolt,I think the major gains will be on the passenger side since its the only real mounting point on that side and being sleeved has to make a big gain in strength as well.
  20. You should extend them back to that next sleeved hole, you have them on both sides and they will make your recovery points a lot stronger.
  21. SOA gives about 5" of lift most people go 6-6.5" up front so it sits level. Soa with a 5" lift will be close to the factory rake so for 4" you need to only lower the rear by an inch. Just remember that SOA height varies depending on things like spring condition, axle used, perches used,ect....... so you won't know for sure were your at till you do it.
  22. Drop brackets work great, the only issue with the RC brackets is that they are for an XJ so they won't fit without modification to your truck. I ran OME 934s with 2" spacers,it worked ok. I ended up going to 6.5" coils so the truck sat level and the 934s now live in my XJ as a 3" lift.
  23. Just the 35" tires is enough reason for it even if it never went offroad.
  24. 87 should be Dana 28 front and Ford 7.5 rear :ack:
  25. AFAIK OME doesn't make a 4" coil for MJ/XJ,IIRC biggest is a 2" You will probably want an OME934,its a 2" lift coil for a ZJ but will give you 3" of lift. Then put a 1"-2" spacer and you should be ok.
