Cool. I was looking at the huskys because for the price of that gun I could a gun, wrench, cutoff tool, and painter. But I do not need the painter or the wrench right away. Thanks.

I have a differently acquired 33 gallon air compressor in my shed. I was not really concerned about using until I got my comanche a couple months back. But now I have a reason to buy some air tools. What do you folks think about husky's air tools? I have been using their hand tools at work and they seem legit. Home Depot sells a few different levels of them. The specs on my compressor should run them all. I am not a shop nor a professional. So I do not have to worry about over taxing the tank or the tools day in and day out. But it would be nice to have something to help out. I do not need nor want super high gear. But if I can avoid the harbor freight brands I will be happy. So husky, yes or no?

I was just down in Irondale for work. Timing never seems to work for the fun stuff.

Strange vibration under no engine load
Wesleypipesyo replied to fiatslug87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I always use a socket, hammer, and a couple of 4x4 blocks. But I like doing things the hard way. That's why I drive jeeps. -
Yup. Put the battery in, fired it up and let it run for 10-15 minutes. Then I let it sit for a week. She cranked right up.

Well, here is the 4 month update. I fixed the battery. She cranks right up now. So that is a win. The driver side door is still a little less than water proof. And with the 2 feet of snow we have had this month that is a slight issue. Here are some other issues. And they were discovered on a 7 mile drive to Old Country Buffet and 7 mile drive home. 1) Not overly water tight. 2) The dash lights do not light up the speedo or gas-0 3) The transmission is not firmly secured to anything. It jumps like a trampoline. 4) The exhaust. See above. Also, it is very much swiss cheese. The fix for that will be a sawzall 5) The steering wheel can make a half turn before the tires move. From a quick look the steering gear box is gone. I need to further investigate 6) The brakes are nonexistent when the engine is cold. Once the engine warmed up the brakes would lock up the tires. Weird 7) The gas tank has a tiny leak. Of the 22 gallons I put into the tank upon leaving my house I used maybe 1 to drive to and from dinner. I used maybe 5 to melt the snow in the parking lot under my jeep. And another 2-3 to melt snow in my driveway trying to get it parked. Also, this truck as no @$$ to get up my driveway. The tires are all bald so they just spin. It requires 4wd to park. It is going to be a few more weeks before I have time to do any work on the truck. But the good news is that I have a bunch of side work coming up. And that means I can buy new tools. Lots of air tools, impact guns, impact wrenches, air cutoff wheels, lots of stuff. So I have that going for me.

Higher comp pistons for 2.5 4cyl??
Wesleypipesyo replied to 81Chero's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Please forgive my ignorance on this particular subject. But if you are going to put $3,000 into a motor that will require you to run a higher octane gas and make it less reliable as a DD, why not just put a mild v8 in the truck? Keep in mind I am not into the jeep world for speed and power. I just like driving in the woods. But a motor swap seems like a more effiecent use of money. -
It might have been user error on my part. But I used the torque wrench like the destruction manual said too. My point is if I have the choice to use back spacing on the rim or a spacer I am going with back spaced rims. I had a bad experience.

I used alloy USA spacers. They came off. Not sure about what my buddy had. His was a trail use one jeep. Mine was a WK. I used it as an excuse to rotate the tires at oil changes.

The problem with wheel spacers is that you have a second set of lug nuts to worry about. Myself and a buddy have lost wheels because the wheel spacer came loose. It is recommended that you pull the wheels off every couple of thousand miles and retighten the lug nuts.

I would buy that and put it in my front yard. My wife would not appreciate the humor, but I do.

My name is Jeffy and I like to eat apples. -
Hey guys, I am planning on taking a sick day next week. I need a door. And possibly a couple seat brackets. Right now my plan is to be at Harbor Freight at 9am. I need to replace some torx bits. Then go to the Hawkins Point Crazy Rays. Jeff

That sucks, did you call a tow? Or did you find the c clip? -

I thought all jeep D35s were c clip. I could be mistaken, but the YJ and TJs both had c clips. They make a c clip eliminator. -
I glad to see mor folks from Maryland on here. I drove over 250 miles to find my jeep. The local ones are way over priced or need a ton of work. Glad you got yours.

Anyone seen this snorkle?
Wesleypipesyo replied to wombat's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Any time I offroad I land my jeep on the hood where a snorkel would go. You see the big dent, but also notice the soccer ball sized speed dimple behind my head. I avoid water and skip the snorkel. -
Comanche for the Snow
Wesleypipesyo replied to Brickmiata's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Does the mounting brackets need a lot of adjustment? I randomly pulled some fiero bucket seats out of a junk yard as a joke for an older ford ranger once. They bolted in perfectly with zero adjustment. I was amazed. -

Did I miss something? I have read this thread and didn't see anything about cheap spacers. Unless Titan spacers suck. -
Have you made it up to Rausch Creek?
