  1. It just occured to me: Will the TBI gauge cluster work with the MPFI sensors and ECM?
  2. Hello all. I and a few other members on this forum, while discussing an issue on a thread in the tech section, came to the conclusion that it would be a benefit to the forum to have a seperate section on the forum dedicated to tech and tips on the 2.5L engine. While I do realize that the majority of the members here own a L6 'manche, the 2.5 has enough inherent quirks that a lot of info doesn't cross over. Besides this, when performing a search, one has to sift through pages of 4.0 related threads before finding one or two posts that have some 4 banger info. Thanks for reading!
  3. A true synthetic will make the seep worse, as the base stock molecules are smaller and of a more uniform size than a dino oil's. Personally, I'd jump up to a 10-30 or even a change to Rotella in 15-40 to alleviate some of the seepage. The diesel sound could very well be the timing chain. Rare, but it's still a mechanical comonemt that COULD fail.
  4. Nice! Thanks for that info. I'll deifnately look into that.
  5. won't work http://comancheclub.com/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/thumbs.gif I'm lost. Why wouldn't it work?
  6. What oil grade are you using? Also, is it a head gasket leak, or a Valve cover gasket leak?
  7. I was looking for a Yota rear end for my 'manche, but an 8.8 with 4.10's and a tight LSD jumped at me for $130 during my search. I couldn't pass ot up! I'm still curious about the Toyota axles, though. I might mate one to my K5 Blazer in the rear, you know, for science. :)
  8. I'm not too familiar with the 8.25 in a Jeep, so I gotta ask, how do the 8.25, 8.8, and D44 stack up in relation to each other. From what I understand, the 8.8 is stronger than the 44 in many ways. What's your take on it?
  9. A 2.5 section WOULD be awesome. Everytime I do a search in the tech section, I have to sift through pages before I find something semi-appropriate.
  10. Sorry to hijack, but what parts did y'all use to make the cold air system on your 2.5's? I would like to make a bit of room under the hood for a ZJ P/S system and maybe a dual battery set up.

  12. Good deal! BTW, your MJ is SOOOOO clean....
  13. I have the complete 4.0l powersteering set up from a 94 XJ on my 2.5l,bolted right up. Nice! Am I to assume that the ZJ and XJ set up is the same?
  14. Thanks so not worth swapping for a 231? Depends... what are your plans for your truck? If it's pulling DD/utility/light wheeling duties, I'd say keep it. If you plan on going hardcore with it or doing an engine/tranny swap, get a 231.
  15. lol damn. BWD is the easiest to get round here. Out of the Standard, Elchin, and Denso, what do you guys recommend?
  16. I call 'em ALL bangers... 'cept for Wankels, of course. ;)
  17. The chain is wider than the 231's,but the planetary gears have less contact area in relation to each other. I'd say, strength-wise, it's a toss up, though the 231 does have a much better aftermarket.
  18. What's the Standard brand?
  19. BTW, I have a strong suspicion that the P/S system on my 6 banger 94 ZJ drops into my 87 2.5 Comanche. I'll know for sure when I swap in a '96 P/S pump and bracket into the ZJ.
  20. Really? I started stuffing 8.8's in my Heeps because the 8.25 seems to be made out of gold 'round here. Another axle I've been looking at lately is the Toyota 8" rear end. The WMS-WMS distance is very close to our trucks, has the right bolt pattern when pulled from a 2wd Taco, and is supposed to be ridiculously strong. Some 'yota guys run 38's with em with no ill effects.
  21. Thanks guys. I really hope that this is all I need to swap. It started stumbling above 4k lately and fouling the plugs. I changed the CPS for an Ebay unit my brother bought and I got no spark coming out of thr coil afterwards. I changed the pick up coil, ignition coil, plugs, cap, and rotor (needed em anyway), and now I have no spark. I also swapped around ghr ASD relay with the starter relay and still nothing. It cranks over, but doesnt catch.
  22. If you have to move spring pads, why not an 8.8? I got mine locally with 31 spline shafts, discs, 4.10's, and a factory LSD for $130. Oh, and it had less than 80,000 on it when I pulled it. Just sayin'.
  23. Hey all, it's time to swap out the CPS on my ZJ's 4.0. Aside from going over to the stealership, is there a good place to get a replacement CPS? I know that some of the big chains are rumored to sell crap CPS's. Who should I get one from?
  24. The 2.5 with an auto should be up to the task of pulling 1500lbs. I've loaded that (and more) in the bed of my 2.5/AX4 with little issue. It does feel sluggish, what with the 3.55 gears in mine and 31's, but it isn't as bad as you think. I wholeheartedly agree with the tranny cooler, and I'd also throw on an electric fan set up to free up some power. Other than that, love the 2.5 for what it is.
