Dual throttle bodies for a 2.5??
benjy_26 replied to 81Chero's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It can be done with Megasquirt...but why? Just go MPFI. -
lol Rorschac a bunch of car guys, they'll see nothing but cars!
-
Hell, with a 100 mile daily trip, I'd skip the caddy and look into a clean, used, manny-tranny TDI. There's cats out there getting close to 50mpg in those without sacrificing TOO much performance.

Oh, my realistic dream ride is a First Gen CTS-V in black. I just love that it looks like a Caddy but sounds like a cammed up hot rod.
-
I hope not. :(

Quick on the draw! lol My MJ is Oly White, btw.

I'm VERY interested!

I'm Game. White Room (No Clapton references, please :D ) 5K: Turbo set up for my VW 50k: Pay back all my debt, then buy an old CJ3 to mess with 150k: Buy a bigger place If I had to stay off of here, I'd probably just read. I don't use the 'net a whole lot aside from looking up stuff for work or for cars. Who's MJ would I like? Monkeyboy has an awesome build going on right now, AND he kept the 2.5... Last meal? Chile Colorado What is your "realistic" dream vehicle?

Do you plan on using any kind of fuel injection, or will this be a carb'd set up? -
I'm aware of that. I'm also aware thay the base design for the ZJ was done by AMC. What Chrysler did to the 4.0 by giving it 190hp was pretty amazing at the time. Remember that during those same years, the 5.2 in the Ram was only putting out 170hp.

I still have an old flathead 4 banger off of my Willys wagon sitting in my garage. lol I think even ChryCo gave Jeep something good. I DO love my 4.0HO equipped ZJ, after all.
-
That's a damned shame! For me, it wasn't just about a lack of power, it was more about a general lack of "Jeepness", for lack of a better term. I would have gotten the same driving experience in an Explorer, or hell, a Caravan.

I'd ditch the revolver shackles if I were you. Other than that, it looks good.

Nice. I havent been trail riding in a while. I need to get back into it. Let me know if you need any help with your build.

I wonder how it would do out on the dunes.

4cyl 2.5 uses GM bell housing pattern??
benjy_26 replied to 81Chero's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
On thw pic of the bellhousing, that rectangular notch on the upper right side is where the crank position sensor pokes through to read the pulses from the flywheel. Without that sensor, the EFI Jeep emgine will not run. The easiest way to make a 2.5 Jeep engine mate with a GM tranny is to use a tranny that will accept the AMC bellhousing in some way. This leaves you with a few choices, moat if not all of them being manuals. -

If you bolt on a Northstar to a AX5, you'll get about 5 seconds of fun before the tranny turns into a bunch of shiny metal pieces. :) -
1987 2WD SporTruck SWB model 2.5 AX4 3.55 gears in rear Dana 35 Has a trailer hitch, but I'm not sure if it's factory or if it's been redneck-rigged as there are some things welded o it. Exterior color is Olympic White (original) and interior is tan. Truck has a build date of Nov 1986.

i agree with ya there, althought the JKs aint bad wranglers but the idea they have for the 2016 wrangler is horrible in my opinion, indepented suspention all the way around, might be better for rock crawling though, who knows, Redwolf JK's aren't bad, but they're not really Jeeps, if you ask me, at least not the 4 door ones. They're bloated, heavy, underpowered things that were built to fill the niche that that H2/H3 left when it died. I've yet to drive a stripper model 4 banger, but all of the high optioned v6 4 doors I've driven have been pretty bland. Nothing special in those things, and definitely no "jeep flavor" to them.

Nothing yet. Try a spoon of raw honet mixed with a spoonfull of ground cinnamon mixed up in hot water for the cough. It'll help clear that out!

benjy_26 replied to 81Chero's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The only GM tranny that I'd want behind my 2.5 would be a granny-geared SM420. -
Meh. Aside from the Cummins powered Rams, the viper, and the Charger/Challenger cars, Chrysler hasn't made anything worthwhile in a long time, in my opinion. I'm sure Fiat will keep those as well as some form of Wrangler for the foreseeable future. The car line needs a big revamp. Perhaps Fiat will start making some interesting things here in the states.
