  1. Driver side. 1988. Where the cable enters the brake assy (the big rubber-coated section) is rubbing on the rim. Is there supposed to be a spring or something that pulls that section of the cable away from the rim or what? TIA.
  2. Cool.
  3. I picked one up from the local junkyard, but it's going on my truck. However, I'll need to get rid of the one that's on there now. It's not the best, but you may be interested anyhow.
  4. 5-90 over on NAXJA fabbed up a whole system using copper piping. Pretty pimp, if you ask me.
  5. There should be an additional ground from the front header panel harness right behind the left headlight, on the inner fender. Oizzy is correct........the replacement sockets are a "Help" item.......Ford Socket. But, the wire colors are not right, and I can't remember which 2 need to be connected :hmm: Not applicable here, the light lenses are plastic, and so are the sockets. The ground wire ends in a metal strip that runs up the side of the bulb socket, then goes through the plastic and goes into where the bulb seats. On both of my front signals, the metal tab had rusted where it goes through the socket.
  6. The left one used to, but stopped when I cleaned the corrosion off the main plug for the harness. Four way flashers work fine. Rear parking lights are fine. only the front parking lights are non-op. I "@$$-umed" that the front harness gets its ground through the main harness, as I see no seperate ground. Each socket has a ground on it as well. Its a small tab that sticks through the side of the socket.
  7. I would test the bulb sockets for continuity. Both my sockets on my MJ had the ground tab rusted out. New sockets are around $9, IIRC. I would also replace the bulbs with brand new bulbs. You might want to look into replacing the light switch as well.
  8. I replaced the t-stat, water pump and trans pan gaskets+RTV with only the FelPro gaskets. No leaks yet and that was about 8 months ago.
  9. I have WaW and it's pretty pimp. The trailer for MW2 looked a zillion times more awesome. There was a recent controversy with the way they were going to let people play online -- no more servers ran by individuals. I wanted to get MW2 immediately, but I'm going to wait for a while until the kinks are worked out.
  10. Yum, that look so tasty. When I replaced the trim, there was a significant amount of organic material built up underneath (leaves and such). I suppose I need to take the water hose to it. Thanks for the guidance.
  11. That's what I thought. Strangely, after replacing the black trim with chrome trim, I noticed that I was getting water in the floorboard on the passenger side. Must be leaking from around the door.
  12. I replaced my black trim with the chrome trim, but the trim doesn't sit flush with the windshield at the very top. Can that introduce leaks to the cab?
  13. Sorry, I don't. I didn't even check to see what it had under there.

There's an MJ sitting in the yard in Row 40. I pulled the bumper and Class 3 hitch already. It's a 5 spd, short bed, bench seat, sliding rear window, foam headliner (kind of poor shape). The bed is in fantastic shape and has tail lights still. The motor was still mostly intact. Just a heads up for the rest of you. I would have liked to snag the tailights and sell them here but couldn't get them off and didnt wanna damage them. There's also a bunch of XJs that are newly on the lot. I'd recommend checking them out. One of them has a strange set-up with a CB antenna hooked to what looked to be an amp (increasing the signal?). Not a police XJ, though.
  15. So without cruise, the two cable lengths are different?
  16. That's fine, I'm used to it being that way. But I do like your van, does that count? Sure, did you see my other van build up thread? No I didn't. Is it on CC?
  17. That's fine, I'm used to it being that way. But I do like your van, does that count?
  18. This is true. There is a small module that goes between the two lengths. I don't know, however, the difference between the two lengths. Are 4WD vs. 2WD different lengths?
  19. Yes, but only the 95 and 96. Any other year and you have to modify the pushrod. Hmm, I thought that every year would make the pedal real tall; I know the 1997 booster did, lol.
  20. I'm confused about this as well. Taking the cable off has nothing to do with any tranny fluid. You don't need to pull the sender and gear out. And even if you did, I don't think you'd loose any. Well, mine wouldn't come out unless I took the whole thing out, including the speedo gear. When I did, trans fluid poured out. Of course, I broke the clip that holds it into the back of the speedo, so I have to replace the whole thing.
  21. Why? When you put the new cable in make sure it slides in enough to engage the speedo gear in the tranny. Only way I could get mine out is to pull the whole assy, down to the speedo gear. When I did so, trans fluid came out.
  22. The 96 booster will swap in and the pedal will be the same height as stock in 1989?
  23. Better drain some fluid out of trans as well.
  24. Oh man, I'm so jealous. We looked around for a westy for a long time and never found one in our price range that was even running. Not to mention a synchro westy. That's gonna be a fun van to drive around in after that SVX conversion. Put out more power than those smaller 4 bangers the smaller subies had (like my OBS). Congrats and I basically don't like you.
