"The Shadow"?

Not sure, there was a thread in the SEC chapter forum I believe.

I hear an acetone+trans fluid mixture is better than PB.

It's not been proven that only being allergic can cause serious necrosis. Recluse bites are so rare, there really is very little data overall that can draw such a conclusion, and there are no clinical tests(YOU wanna signup for such a test?). However, the poisons Brown Recluses have are certainly necrotic in nature, and can cause serious wounds via enzymatic reactions. Recluses can easily manage to get into a headliner, and are LIKELY to be found there, if anywhere, in a vehicle since they are known to inhabit cardboard commonly. However, Wyoming is NOT a common part of the Recluses territory . This, coupled with the fact you rarely find one recluse, let alone a nest of them, seems to point to the story being incredibly unlikely. Can it happen? Well, a meteor supposedly killed the dinosaurs right? Is it likely to happen? Nah. It's quite hard to insist that recluse bites are rare if there have been no studies done on the effects of the venom on the human body, i.e. apparently nobody knows if serious necrotic conditions occur because of allergic reactions. I contend that it is NOT easy for a recluse to find it's way up inside the headliner. Recluses cannot walk on glass, leaving only the pillar plastic to climb up on. Even that may prove troublesome to scale. Also, there is not an easy way to get between the roof and the headliner. Recluses are drawn to cool, dark and sometimes damp areas - 3 things a headliner are not. In fact, female recluses actually do "weave" nests and basically stay in that location (the male roams at night). I also say that if you find one recluse, it might be a fluke or an outlier. If you find two recluses, put down some glue boards because I would be willing to bet that you would find many more that you didn't think you had. Caveat: recluses are almost never ever found outside of their range of territory.
-
Not saying that it's unheard of - but it's not exactly the most likely case that a nest of brown recluses was up above his headliner then got mad and somehow fell on his head biting him multiple times. Brown Recluses don't exactly operate that way; it's not exactly convenient for them to actually get up there anyways (since they can't walk on glass). Only a small majority of people are actually allergic to the venom; those are the people who come down with skin necrosis.

It just seems highly unlikely, that's all.

Well, by smushed I mean more of a pressure thing. Like rolling over onto them while you sleep, putting a shirt on with one inside, or putting on your shoes with a spider inside of it. Edit: the website that the doctoral student had set up has long since been taken down which is a shame because it had all kinds of awesome information on it.
-
That doesn't sound right - recluses don't just bite you. Also, if he had that much of a reaction to the recluse venom, he would have suffered skin necrosis before death by venom (if he would have even died from that limited amount of venom). Recluses are actually scavengers, not hunters. I've read some research that was performed by a doctoral student from Kansas that he found that recluses would really only bit if they were smushed, not poked or prodded. Random fact - the most reliable way to determine if a spider is a recluse is to look at the eyes. Recluses have 3 sets of 2 eyes, not 4 sets of 2 eyes.

I had an escort that had an ant colony living underneath the driver side rug. Some kitchen sink cleaner killed them pretty easy.

Google cache still has the info up.

88 MJ come with power steering?
bigalpha replied to drase's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That's kind of a bummer to hear. I was thinking of installing it in my Mom's. -
Something about the dragons of Pern are particularly fun.

My 88 has PS and AC. My mom's 89 has PS and no AC. -
I think you're the only other person I've known that's read Anne McCaffrey.
-
I've also heard you can ship cars via AmTrack.
-
No worries, man, it all worked out in the end! Thanks.
-
Thanks - that's who my Mom ordered her tank through. Turns out the sender is still usable so that's good.
-
So how long will it take before the formal complaint gets passed through to the appropriate people and you hear back whether or not it will be pursued?
-
Got to the yard today and the fuel tank was cut open. Apparently the salvage yard cuts all the fuel tanks open.
-
W O W. Thanks for hitting me up with this knowledge. Basically, I need a tank, fuel pump and sender to get my mom on the road again. There's an 86 in a yard not too far away from me. I was going to go pull the tank, pump and sender if it would interchange with my Mom's MJ.
-
So it looks like the sender for the 18GAL carbed engine is the same as the diesel engine. If I find a diesel engine at the yard, I'll bring it home. When I pull the sender, will there be a part number or ID number stamped on it?
-
Awesome, thanks! I'm trying to get my mom's MJ back on the road. Apparently the tank is so rusty it clogged the fuel pump and the sender is rusted badly too.
-
So basically I'll need to make sure the tank in the 1986 matches the size of the tank in the 1989 for the sender to be plug and play. If it's not, then the 1986 sender will need modification to work in the 1989 tank. Did any of the three tanks offered in 1986 match the 1989 tank?
-
Will a sender from a 1986 (2.5L only engines during that year?) fit into a 1989 MJ with a 4.0L RENIX? Are the senders are different between the 2.5L and 4.0L tanks; what about the LWB vs. SWB? I know the pumps are different but not sure about the senders.

I'm located in Clarksville, TN. I'm looking for this in the next day or two for my mom. Thanks.
