  1. The Dealer I was at sold 80 cars under this program in three days. I am guessing the money is exhausted by the end of August at the latest. Knowing Washington a renewal is a possibility but with all the spending that has happened I wouldn't bet on it.
  2. I appreciate your looking up the correct info. Thanks.
  3. I agree with your conclusion that not many reasonable condition MJs are in danger. More importantly there is a good rust free supply in the NW and other non-salted areas. In 10 or 15 years probably not. To those contemplating rebuilding a rust bucket MJ I would suggest a trip to pick up a rust free one so your project has a solid base and will still be solid in 15 years.
  4. I work in the used car biz and once a car qualifies for the Cash For Clunkers and is traded in It is issued a Certificate Of Destruction and can't be registered ANYWHERE in the U.S. and they require the dealer to Destroy the vehicle. They can't sell it even if they want to. This is really hurting used car dealers who are already suffering from a lack of quality trade-ins.My inventory is already down by 50% and it doesnt look like its going to get any better. yep, there's way too much hear say and people getting the facts of this loser program all wrong. it cannot be bought, used, parted out or anything, it gets crushed. this program isn't helping anyone, and the ones who do qualify are not helped by beeing enticed into more debt. thats what we need, more debt, i guarantee repos will go up. Sorry but you are out and out wrong. They are DEFINITELY parting the rigs. I was paid an extra $300 for the salvage value of a bone stock xj. As to people being enticed you are kidding right? If some one is an adult they can make their own decision even if you don't agree with it. It isn't any better to be a knee jerk conservative than being a knee jerk liberal.
  5. Serious question- what do you think magically changes when you turn middle age? Anything a middle aged guy can do a 20 something can if he has little character and integrity. Without those a person is a lost at any age.
  6. I looked over the intake when I dropped off the beat up xj last night. About half were of marginal value like my xj. The other half were surprisingly valuable. Toyota four runner with no damage for example. I don't doubt the Portland yards will pay a flat $300 for all of em considering they can get the cream puffs too.
  7. No shortage of rust free MJs in the NW. If you guys in the rust belt want 'em we could easily export em to you for the right price. PS They ruin the engine and then part out the rest.

    jeepcomj

I am sorry but this has been going on for months! If jeepcomj was honorable this would have been handled immediately. I guess he spent the OP's money and didn't care to replace it. At this point he should do whatever to finish this ie pawn some tools, borrow from family, etc. I think his account should be suspended immediately at least until he solves this and he should be banned from selling anything here permaninately. Obviously he reflects poorly on the community.
  9. Cool. Looks like a 4x4 dune buggy!
  10. Several CC members have installed bumpers from s-10 or Durango pickups I believe.
  11. Unfortunately converting to auto is likely to take more than three weeks unless you have experience as a mechanic. It would be much quicker to get your clutch issue solved.
  12. Numerous threads on naxja.org about it.
  13. The gasket can be reused provided it isn't dried out, is in good condition, and is not damaged in removal. I think many (most?) glassman would plan on replacement.
  14. At one point I was commuting 45 miles from Oregon City to Salem. 2 months of that and I was looking for new job. Even 20 miles to Beaverton was a pain. I was very glad to get laid off and start working from home. Now my commute is 30 feet! :D PS The Oregonian reported today that Portland commuters only waste 36 hours vs the former 37 hours a year thanks to mass transit! (nation wide average is suppose to be 33)
  15. I ve run into that too. WO examining the dash it is impossible to know for 100% though.
  16. Looks like normal fan belt on v-6. Sorry, I was thinking more of 4.0 litre set up. The other pic looks like where the heat riser tube is suppose to go.
  17. Around here these little pick ups last forever and rust very slowly. For here I would say the price is high but you area may be different. Also very easy to find here which may be part of the reason for lower prices. Also I would want the 4.0 liter/AW4/4x$ combo so a 4 banger 2wd would be lower imo.
  18. Doesn't sound original. Maybe something the previous owner jury-rigged?
  19. I think you hit the nail on the head. How much time and aggravation is it worth? I would say settle for a JY dash in very good condition and install it yourself or settle for amount due. Let him take you to court if he wants and explain why his kid damaged your vehicle.
  20. Man, non lifted jeeps with good sized tires look awesome. I second that!!!
  21. so, your saying that UPS failed to deliver the part, not once but twice. Then the same thing happened with a money order too? come on :shake: that is just a little far fetched. And I see why you don't want to lose money on the deal but why should the buyer lose money? you should refund their full amount and take up any losses withe UPS. After all, according to you, it was UPS that caused the problem which may create a loss for you, not the buyer. :agree: Jim, thanks for stepping up and saying what a lot of us were probably thinking. So Pat, you write the address on the envelope for the money order. The buyer tells you he never gets it. Rare, but possible, and usually because of an error by the sender. You confirm the address again. You PRINT the address on the envelope and send another one. Then USPS messes up again?? :hmm: Like Jim said, the buyer should not be out a dime in this situation. Eight months to reconcile, which could be argued was only motivated by being called out publicly, is simply unacceptable. Your losses on this deal could be minimal compared to future lost sales (since you have acquire a lot of parts and do a lot of selling) if people don't think you are fair and prompt. For the record, Pat I don't believe you were trying to rip anybody off. But I do think maybe you took liberty with his money, then blamed the delivery and postal carriers until you had the funds to refund him, to which it seemed to be a low priority or it wouldn't have taken 8 months. I may have missed it earlier, but whatever happened to just sending him the part? Have to agree with the others. Totally unacceptable behavior whether or not the Buyer is a forum member.
  22. Might have a short or battery drain too.
