I am very glad your son is OK but that is DEFINITELY fleeing the scene of an accident. He should have called the police immediately even if that meant knocking on doors. It also sounds like he was driving in an unsafe manor. Regardless of whether the other car yielded he should have been in control of his car enough to handle the situation without rolling the jeep. Thank God there were no kids playing in the yards! Hopefully he learned an important lesson from this.

Looks cool to me. The donating Comanche was pretty tired. Plenty around here in much better shape.

Yep. Lots of em here in the NW. No salt on the roads mean 20+ years for most vehicles. Ones on the coast get killed by the salt air however.

Actually I don't think that is true. All it does is close off when the engine is cold so the engine can get to operating temp quicker. The heater core temperature control is separate. Most of the State XJs out here have it eliminated and they run just fine. You just run heater tubing from the radiator/engine straight to the heater core. They are different sizes. 5/8" and 1/2" if I remember correctly?
-
Or simply eliminate it. All it does is allow the engine to heat up a little quicker.

This would be for work and DD. I am not interested in a 2009 or newer or a Beast of truck. Luckily I don't have to prove my manhood with the truck I drive unlike my brother in law.

Good point. I use to be a Chevy man like my dad but I totally dislike the current Chevy design. My wife and I have had 3 Toyota's including 2 pickups that have been great to own. I find the current Tundra design to be a bit bloated but really like the 2000-2007 design. The current Dodge design seems fine but the cost break of the slightly older one, 2002-2008, makes sense since I will end up putting a ton of miles on it. Nothing wrong with the current Ford design, I just like the Tundra and Dodge better. I need to do quite a bit more research before pulling the trigger, just hoping to get feedback on reliability and such. Thanks every one.

Real men shave with a Bowie knife! :rotfl2: I must not have the beard some here do because a decent electric works good for me. The idea of taking a blade to my face every morning would drive me to grow a beard. Unfortunately I look much better clean shaven.

Price seems high with the rust. Sans rust the price is defendable.

VERY nice!

Why? From what I have seen the Dodge is much nicer.

Right now I am using a Tacoma for work (on site computer work and equipment roll outs). It is too small. I am thinking of 2000-2006 Tundra Crew Cab or 2002-2008 Dodge 1500 Crew Cab. Any feelings on reliability of these two? Any alternative suggestions? Thanks!

PAW PAW For Jesus! (Sorry reference to a NPR comedy bit!) :D

Dump runs, lumber yard runs, and plowing the drive way? I keep running it until it dies and then find an identical engine in good shape used. The 4.0 is a great engine and not a tough swap but it is a lot of work.

Seems weird how the insulation burnt/wore off. Maybe pulling too much power for some reason?
-
There for a minute I thought you had rust holes in the roof! Nice buy for $250!

Is the lawn mower for traction weight?! :D (Just realized it was probably a small snow blower. We don't have such things out here!!! )
-
Is it just me or did these guys have no clue what they are doing? Then the icing at the end, "I don't want 'em to mess this truck up." :grrrr:

Your numbers are so far off it isn't funny. In addition many people live in States where there are NO taxes on the trade in or even the new car sale!

What's the Best Turbo Diesel Swap?
NWPhotog replied to case5412's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Must be a difference in age. When I watch the first one I just think what a fool for ruining his tires. -
Yes, CFC rigs can NOT be resold by the JY. They have 6 months to sell parts and then it must be crushed. No yard is going to risk its license for a couple thousand dollars. Honestly rust free Comanches are plentiful enough in the NW that I can't imagine any of em selling for $4500 unless they were built with $4500 of after market parts! 8)

So would you have paid $4500 for it?

What's the Best Turbo Diesel Swap?

I must be old. The first video looks like a waste of good/expensive rubber. The second looks like a course a stock Comanche could handle. The truck, now that IS cool! -
Half tech, half MJ, couple questions on XJ
NWPhotog replied to beaterjeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That seems wrong on so many levels!
