I am a realist. We will never have a Comanche/J-truck/Gladiator back. Might was well stop crying about it. Now if they were to do the "Comanche" thing, and spawn off a pickup from the current boxier Liberty... I would be very very interested to see how that would turn out. New Libby style pickup with the new V6... MmmHmm. I would look at that seriously. Same with the "Compass" I just wish Jeep would make a car already, think of an American competitor to Subaru. Tough looking AWD cars, Jeep name, winning rallies like the WRX. Maybe call it the "Eagle"? Hint hint, wink wink. Rob

Don't trade the MJ in yet. You just got it. Rob

Laredo will (or should) have a cargo light also Jim... And better chances it has a D44 under it than your run of the mill MJ. Rob

Found this on Jeepforum... Discuss. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f28/i-saw-kj-thought-id-share-1423511/ Personally, I think they did a good job. I'm not a huge fan of this style Libby, but I think this is clean, and looks good. I don't know if I would have kept the rear wiper, or the stock hatch glass though. I think this is closer to what we as Jeepers would expect from a modern redo of a Jeep truck, rather than the $10K box of parts on top of a $30K Wrangler. Rob

Crank Position Sensor- What Are Your Tips?
Automan2164 replied to 89Tonto's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The last one I changed couldn't have gone any simpler. I used a handful of extensions and a universal with some electrical tape to keep it semi rigid, and did it from the bottom. Took me about 25 minutes. Rob -
Holy Static Shock! Any Electricians In The House?
Automan2164 replied to Automan2164's topic in The Pub
Do you think that any residual static could be seeking a way out via the cable and interrupting signal? It was the only thing I could come up with as to why the two would be connected. Rob -
I've had it. I really have. My house is the static shock epicenter of the world. It used to be funny when Angela would get it, it would disrupt the cable and I could blame it on her "witchcraft", but it's getting me now too. Ever since I moved into my house, the static electricity generated around electrical appliances is unreal. I think it all came to a new level of awareness a couple years ago when our bug screen took a crap. We ended up putting a smaller TV on the coffee table, and it was somewhat in the way. Angela would have to sort of sneak by the back of it, and once or twice, she set it off as she went by. Most notably, it would ting a one inch pencil thick arc, and it would actually shut the tv off. Most often, it will happen as you get off the couch. We both use the laptops on the couch, and as you get up to set it down, you will get shocked. Right now if I were to set this down on the table, I would receive a machine gun of little static shocks as I let go, and it would also interrupt the cable, leaving a black tv. So irritating. Also, when you turn on or off ceiling fans, it will interrupt the cable for a second or two. I guess I am wondering if you guys have any ideas? Could something with the electrical not be grounded good enough? Cable not grounded? House going to explode? Rob

1986Mj, Being Parted. Holy Sh*t!!!
Automan2164 replied to jimoshel's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Out in the rust free west.. the mechanicals are the only issue. Here we run them until they crumble away. There they run them until they get tired of working on them. To live in the west... Rob -
I think your rig is beautiful as is. With as clean as yours is body wise, I think you should finish the paint though... Marvin has been naked for quite awhile. Rob

Finally got home to my computer. Mine is a Gerber MP600. Here is an internet sourced pic: Image Not Found The socket adapter goes onto the square shank on the phillips. Works good. Like I said, it allows me to carry the torx bits, just in case. Rob
-
I have a Gerber, can't remember the model now. It's an all black steel multiplier with the one hand flick pliers, interchangeable wire cutters/strippers, as well as an adapter to put a bit drive on one of the tools, allowing me to put on a torx in case I'm in the yard and run into an MJ tail light with the original hardware. Saves me from walking back out to the ZJ to get my torx. Always have them with me. Rob

Placed the order for the converter today. Should be all over some '80's goodness next week. Also picked up 9 more Laserdiscs. I plan to convert them all. Keep an eye out there for me! If you send them, I'll convert them! Rob

Mj Still Overheating!!!!
Automan2164 replied to Zebvance's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sorry, didn't catch this until today. Park your truck with the nose facing down hill somewhere and let it cool until you can touch the block. Pull the rear temp sensor at the back of the block. This is where air gets trapped. Once you have the sensor out, top off the coolant bottle until coolant starts coming out of the temp sender hole. If coolant isn't coming out, start the engine and let it warm up. Once it starts warming up, the coolant should start coming out. Once you start getting coolant, put the sender back in, and torque it to spec. That about wraps it up. Rob -
Who Wants A Comanche Club Can Coozie? (They're Here!!)
Automan2164 replied to Pete M's topic in The Pub
Worth calling back and asking at least... They would probably be happy to get something for them... Even if it's pennies on the dollar. Rob -
Mj Still Overheating!!!!
Automan2164 replied to Zebvance's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You did do the proper Renix bleed procedure correct? I can't tell you how many people have been chasing their tails because they didn't bleed a Renix 4.0L. Rob -
Who Wants A Comanche Club Can Coozie? (They're Here!!)
Automan2164 replied to Pete M's topic in The Pub
So, since they are already made, could we get those for free/dirt cheap anyway? I mean, what are they going to do with 200 Comanche Club coozies?. Rob -
If I were hurting for one, I would probably go $325... But I wouldn't be happy about it. $250 all day. Rob
-
Hmm. I didn't change anything either, and it all carried over. Rob
-
Thanks Don! I made sure this one worked before I bought it. They guy had it all hooked up and ready to go when I got there. I've already skipped through the 2.1L turbo diesel LD... Just wish I had the fancy AMC remote/player that would allow me to follow the questions/diagnosis chapters. Rob

I am now the proud owner of a Pioneer LaserDisc player. And since I had a message about playing the Laserdisc in a DVD player... I don't think many realize what a Laserdisc is. For those my age or younger, they are huge. HUGE. Pretty much like a record. The big ones. Like so: So excited to start watching some videos. Rob :MJ1:

I still have mine with FF. Maybe take a look into your settings? Rob

I would just hit up eBay for the hard copy you can put hands on. A little more friendly to navigate and toss on the fender. Rob

Chances Of Finding A Lwb Bed Mat?
Automan2164 replied to Dookie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Keep an eye out at the junkyard. I've picked up both my factory AMC/Jeep longbed mats from the yards. Both places were dirt cheap for them too. I think they charged them out as carpet and I think I walked away with them for $10 or so bucks each. Most people walk by them, or use them under another car nearby to lay on. I'll keep an eye out for ya around here. OP, where you at? Rob -

'92 MJ...Seeing it for sale on the internet; hauling @$$ north 3 hrs to buy it, and learning it was a 1 owner, Jeep dealer service manager owned vehicle pampered its entire life. What owner loves best about CC The fact it's all Comanche-- with owners across the nation buying/ building/ sharing their trucks with others on the forum. I've seem some creative, highly detail-driven stuff done with your MJ's and I look forward to seeing more of it. How the '89 MJ looked a few months after I bought it (yes, that's my @$$) It's was together once back in 2003...then I decided to tear it apart and upgrade to ('91 MJ) High Output wiring/ Stroker conversion Stripped the chassis/ underside down then applied 3 heavy coats of Herculiner CR Laurence Power Slider nifty-ness. Wish I bought more than one of these 10 years ago. '89 MJ is getting there SLOWLY but surely. Time to throw-down for the engine. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How the '92 MJ looked when I bought it. Rear bumper was mildly bent on the driver's side but other than that the truck was straight. '92 MJ interior when purchased...It had been converted to XJ buckets & center console... ...and I converted it back to a bench seat & mini console. '92 MJ 4wd conversion shot - with the exception of the D30 all parts are OEM new & creak-free so far. '92 MJ exterior recent shot (prior to chrome mirrors & 4wd conversion) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beautiful. Gjeep, both MJ's are an absolute testament to your detail. That '89 will be one of the best built mild rigs on the road. The tasteful touches with the new full window doors and old door panels shows a great desire to keep the originality of the truck, but improve upon the inner workings. The '92 looks to be a great drive, and clean enough to eat off to boot. The mini overhead console is a great addition, and looks like it should have been there from factory. 2 great trucks, one great member. Enjoy the spotlight. Rob Click here to view the article
