towing a 2wd with a dolly
WBKrazy replied to man of la manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yea, most definitely DO NOT put it in gear while towing, unless you want to get a real good look at the inside of the engine... i used to work at a small garage a while back, and i put a motor in a yugo of all things cause some yuppie tried to tow it behind an rv in first gear... that poor motor blew to pieces.. -
never heard of em.... theyre probably made by someone else and rebadged just like everything is these days..

wow thats cool man, didnt know they made those

i've seen this on multiple forums i'm on... the guy works for gm, that's 2010 camaro #3 off the line, and it was a program car

new idea... I'm thinking diesel!
WBKrazy replied to atshannon88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
it's not a very easy swap if you've got no experience in this sort of thing, and even if you do it can still be quite challenging.... everything will have to be custom fabbed cause you're using an engine and transmission that was never available in this truck...you'd need to make custom motor/trans mounts, clutch hydraulics/shift linkage if you use an auto, you'd probably have to wire in a whole new set of gauges, plus make the speedo work with the different cable, and you'd also need to overhaul the cooling system.. a 4bt cummins engine is probably youre best bet as far as being able to fit it under the hood.. you'd need to change the whole fuel system, but comanches did come with a renault diesel in 88 and a couple other years so you should be able to find a tank somewhere.. you can get rolls of plastic fuel line from a truck parts supplier, such as fleetpride.. and you'd also have to beef up the suspension to handle the weight of the motor.. the best bet would be to find a complete donor vehicle so you have everything needed to make the engine run once it's installed... a grumman stepvan or old ups truck is your best bet.. i'm sure there's more that i havent thought of, but there's some guys on here who have actually done the swap, so someone should be able to give you a more complete breakdown of everything involved -
i bought burger king for 4 people once with nothing but quarters..

i liked the subies till my buddy joe got a wrx... 2 tranmissions and 3 engines later, not sure i want one anymore..... then again he drives like emerson fittipaldi everywhere he goes... the type of guy who'd blow his motor to win a race :shake:

CC MEMBERS LOOK AT THIS!!
WBKrazy replied to OSHAGNASTY's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i wouldnt trust recaps on the front, in fact on semis and big commercial trucks it's illegal to put them on the steer axle... -
i used to live in cleveland, i kinda miss quaker steak... they should put one in RI....

i have a garmin nuvi 660, got it brand new... it's the only one ive ever used and ive had no problems with it... it even survived an accident in a rainstorm where it got thrown out the window! some jackhole tboned me and spun me around, and i found it hanging out the p. side window hanging by the power cord after they cut me out of the car

Possibly, Registrar??? MA has the RMV - registry of motor vehicles... every other state ive lived in has a DMV, except for ohio, they have the BMV - bureau of motor vehicles...
-
i live in RI and they've recently adopted this too, but only for cars less than 10 years old... found that out when i went to register my 01 police interceptor... i traded a 99 buick for it, and wrote 1000 on the bill of sale, and when i got to the counter the bill came out to 670 something! they valued the car (a retired cruiser, complete with blue and white paint, and 175k on it!) at almost 9000 :fs1: .... at least they let you haggle on the price lol, they said i would have had to fill out a form and wait for a response from whoever handles those things...

I missed this last year, and i'm going this year. I figured i'd post it up on here and see if anyone is interested in making the ride.. it's mostly cars :shake: i know, but it's a wicked good time nonetheless and a fun cruise. the main staging area is the NH liquor store in Hooksett on I-93N just past the tollbooth @ 9am on 5/17/09, but if anyone from CT, RI, or MA would like to go i can set up a second staging area anywhere along 95N past exit 30 in RI.. it's a three stage cruise with stops at the Moore reservoir in Littleton, NH, another one at Weston's beach in Fryeburg, ME, and a final stop at Loon Mountain ski area before breaking to head back home. i'll be there in the mj, it would be cool to have a couple more there or anything else you want to roll in, all are welcome . pm me or post in here if you plan on going. here's a map of the cruise http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 911377&z=9

it's very easy, i just did mine 2 days ago, and it took me about 40 mins total.... the job becomes much easier if you take the battery out... the p/s pump bolts are all 13mm, the tensioner is 14mm, the upper alt. bolt is 15mm, the lower alt. bolt is 13mm and there's a 13mm nut on the backside of it, and the charge wire on the back of the alt. is a 3/8.

none listed on ebay at the moment... guess ill just have to keep lookin

.... for the comanche? i enter mine in car shows from time to time and would like to put a framed ad for it somewhere on the truck for the people that say "jeep made a pickup?" i saw a few on ebay last week, didnt think to save the pics tho and now theyre gone... anyone have any they can post in here and i can save to print out?
