Several trans questions
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Gotcha , I've done the auto 4wd swap before not so much on the manual and never paid attention as to if there was a remove able tail housing . So I need a 23 spline count right ? -
89 Comanche 4.0 5sp 2wd 35 axle . I was wondering what is involved to convert to 4wd besides the typical shifter, axle, driveshafts and speedo cable . I haven't seen the truck as of yet to know what trans it has , can I make the 2wd trans a 4wd trans ? I already have a 231 out of a 95 xj with a 4.0 and I know there are spline count issues . Any help is appreciated . Thanks

distributor index question
Strokermjcomanche replied to teamsmith's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm going out on a limb but : If the distributor and flywheel / flexplate need to be changed when changing in-between ho and renix due to the pickup locations there is too much inacuracy . It takes no time at all to index a dizzy correctly . But if you want to use the rotor position for #1 cyl , I see no problem with that. -
blinker indicator staying on....

Check for a burnt turn signal bulb if not check for power at the socket . After that I would check the main connector at the core support for the front lighting harness . -
1988 Comanche on Ebay
Strokermjcomanche replied to madmax's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
I hope he gets 15k for it . Then we can ask whatever we want for ours . A truck that's destined for the jy should be worth at least 3k lol -

3/8x16x1.25 These may not be your issue but it's worth checking instead of throwing parts at it. -

The bolts have a tendency to either break clean off or back out . -

Strokermjcomanche replied to e30_eric's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That is an 87+ for atleast three reasons , it's a short bed and a sportruck and the emblems aren't italicized. Have you also checked to make sure it he intake manifold bolts are tight and not missing. -
I believe there is a sentinel relay under the dash that keeps the lights on for a short while as how you are describing . You can unplug it and everything will work as normal . Try turning the key of before the lights and then turn the lights off and wait to see if the lights go off in a couple minutes .

Ported intake on renix?
Strokermjcomanche replied to Sir Jacob the 2nd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I did it on mine , but also made it a 4.7 stroker at the same . I have no idea if it helped as I never put it on a dyno . -

top two transmission bolts
Strokermjcomanche replied to dustyinthedirt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Very long extensions will reach it . It also helps to have the trans lowered a bit , just don't put a bind on any wiring etc .- 22 replies
