They're old and brittle by now anyway. Just like Hornbrod. Agreed , about the plastic especially in the warmer climates like AZ lol. It would make it harder to drop a bolt or socket in the bell housing though .
-
Just think how many $$ you would have saved if you didn't lose the bolt. I did the same thing with an AW4. Fished for the bolt for half a day with magnets until I got tired of it, pulled the distributor rotor, touched the START key, then PLINK. It dropped out through the inspection plate gap. No worries. Do you have the plastic piece that surrounds the CPS?

Yes it will. The earlier windshields had the trim that went around the windshield as to where the later ones had a rubber gasket . If you go with the newer windshield make sure you use the rubber gasket as well . And I believe the rear view mirror tab is different so you'll have to use the newer mirror.

Fuel tank evap lines, rough idle, etc
Strokermjcomanche replied to sth5591's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Using a renix sender with a HO harness makes the guage read backwards and I'm also told will burn up the pentiometer . The pump has no effect on the guage , sorry if I implied that . Checking the pressure is a good idea . -
Fuel tank evap lines, rough idle, etc
Strokermjcomanche replied to sth5591's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would use the fuel pump from the xj in the mj sending unit . Your gas gauge will be backwards though . If you had a 2.5 I don't believe the fuel pump has the pressure to keep up . Maybe someone on here can confirm? -

I used "lizard skin" sound deadener . It's also a water barrier . They also make a ceramic coating for reducing interior temps up to 30 degrees . -
renix valve cover grommet help
Strokermjcomanche replied to Dom U's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I was wrong , kind of . The 46005 is the hose and grommet combined . The 42088 is just the grommet . Sorry for the confusion -
gauge cluster swap help.
Strokermjcomanche replied to Dom U's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Did you change the oil pressure switch from a idiot light to a gauge? Don't use Teflon tape and make sure the plug at the sensor and back of the cluster is firmly seated / making good contact . -

Neighbor kids: What would the Comanche Club do?
Strokermjcomanche replied to Comangi's topic in The Pub
Make friends with the kids , earn their respect and ask them not to mess with your truck . I have neighbors I could care less for , but go out of my way to keep them happy so they will think twice before messing with my possessions . In casual conversation Lead the kids to believe you have close friend that are cops and you have security cameras . I know it's strange but it's always worked for me. -
I can get stuff in an 1 1/2 hours .45 minute ride each way lol.

Several trans questions
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ok I'm going today to look at an 4x4 ax15 that came out of a 91 yj . When I spoke with the guy he said it will only fit 91 / 92 because of the different diameter pilot shaft which he said was 19/32 And the shaft was an 1/8 in longer . He also said it was an external slave setup as well which wasn't till later years ,94? It has a115 k miles on it and wants $250 for it . First of all is 250 a good deal ? 2nd: from other threads on here The pilot bearing diameter seems to be an issue when changing the trans from the pukgoat to the ax15 . I want to make sure that this won't be an issue preventing me from using this ax15 . 3rd question is there any field tests when the trans is not in the vehicle to check to make sure it's good ? Thanks in advance for all the help. -
If you get lawyers involved it'll cost you more than $50 to get it (if you win) . If he won't give it to you without a fight , cut your losses .
