On column shift models the cable exits towards the drivers side of the booster . Here's a pic of where the shifter cable exits on the column shift models .

Yes I'm 4x4 , but 3:07 gear ratio . I already replaced the Dana 35 with an c8.25 that I picked for $75 . I got a quote of $800 for a regear with spicer parts , if all else fails I will do that but I'd rather buy a decent axle as this will not be an off road rig .

Good news : I finally found a Dana HP30 with a 4:10 ratio out of a 98 XJ and it's only a hour away . The not so good part : The axle has 202k on it and he wanted $600 . After telling the guy how much I paid for the rear axle with the same ratio I got him down to $500 ,then $400, and he said that's his bottom dollar . Is the axle worth it if the gears and axle ARE in good shape ? I don't plan on using the 4wd all that much but don't want to buy a boat anchor either . I have new calipers and hub bearings and plan on putting new ujoints in anyways , so those are not a concern to me . Thanks in advance !!

Noticed in another thread you have the 2.5 . The sensor is on the top of the drivers side head near the firewall .

Do you have the 2.5 or 2.8 ?

You can park the truck on a hill or if you have a temp sensor that is at the top of the head you can remove it to let the air out . It doesn't need to be running .

You probably had an air pocket in the engine . Are you certain you got the correct rotation water pump as well?You should also have changed the thermostat when you changed the water pump .

Don't get your hopes up , most places that say they sell comanche specific parts normally don't have anything .

Has anyone used plates like these^^ ? What kind of modifying ( if any ) needs to be done ? I'm staying SUA and these are holding me up from finishing bolting the axle in place and being able to move the truck . Thanks in advance .

I don't have the actual plates that I will be using with the 8.25 , so I can't confirm that there is a place to mount the shock bolt . That was my intent in asking if I could use two of the same side plates . Your plates in the video are the same as what I have and I don't like the fact of elongating the holes on the plates and having very little material left . The d35 tubes are considerably smaller than the C8.25 .

Thanks for the link Don . What I'm wondering is ( since I can't find the other plate ) are the plates a mirror of each-other? The seller on eBay has two of the same side and I was seeing if I could adapt one to fit the other side . Or it would be nice if someone had a pair to sell ...

It's had a swap done , you can see where the c101 mounting bracket has been removed directly below the HO sticker . If there is still a sticker on top of the ECU that will give you a ballpark as to what year swap was done .

In addition to the above , another idea is to use a dual terminal battery ( top / side post ) . That would relocate and hide the secondary cables and also keep those large cables from the hood . This is assuming you haven't done it yet ..

88 Mj Swb with metric ton springs . As the title states I'm looking for the leaf spring retainer plates where the ubolts run through . Or I would also take the newer 91-92 plates that are designed differently . I'm switching from a d35 to a C8.25 , I know I can probably enlarge the holes to make it work but want to just replace the plates . Let me know what you have and thanks in advance !! You're going to have 3 holes that need covered . The two you referenced and also the one on the cowl panel . Being that the metal is relatively flat you're probably best off just making some patch panels and riveting / welding / bolting them in . To my knowledge I don't believe those delete panels are sold anywhere.. Here's a pic to reference the holes .

Maybe if I was taller . I have plenty of room to spare to slide the seat back as it is now .
