My 87 sportruck
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
The truck is rust free minus the floors it's a 2.5 4 speed 2wd and it has the original rear bumper / black interior . The truck is pretty straight except for a dent above the rear window . -
I guess it's about time for a build thread : This 87 MJ popped up on Facebook marketplace . I thought that the building in the picture looked familiar (and it was ) I had spoke with the owner months prior and he wanted $1500 for it . This time I got it for $600 , this guy has two more MJs ( in rough shape) and tried to make me buy two of them . This is what it looked like the day I bought it .

Anyone have a picture of one ? I have pulled a sending unit out of my 89 MJ that had a 2.5 and it looks identical to my 4.0 MJ sender , the pumps are different sizes and I would like to locate the correct sender so I can get my 87mj started . Thanks in advance. Here's a picture of all the sending units I have, the 3rd one in is the 2.5 sender ....

In your case I would rob the parts from an Xj sender and fix yours , just make sure to get a renix one ( unless you're going HO ) . If if you want to go the rebuilders route , spectra did a good job rebuilding all the ones we sent them when I worked in parts . It takes them a bit to do it ( like 4 weeks ) but it seems like that might not be an issue for you .

And to the OP , if you use the floor brackets from the bench seat they will work . -

This . There is no reason for name calling , it's a discussion and I will prove what I'm saying is correct . Here is MJ bench and bucket seats sliders next to each other , you CAN use the floor brackets (both are the same see picture ) . I never said the sliders were the same .... -
So mid July then ? What route through Ohio ?

I haven't gotten that far as of yet , hurt my back again yesterday and had to stop working on the jeep . I will of course check to see if there is a leak for sure . -
Original cloth interior fabric?
Strokermjcomanche replied to rynoshark's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't have any of that material, someone might though. Another good option is finding a good seat and swapping the material over (which isn't hard to do). -

Do you have pics of what pattern / color you have ? -
My 87 2.5 Comanche that I just purchased needs a fuel pump .The PO told me that the tank and sender had rust inside and he purchased a new tank along with the used MJ sender .Looking at the current pump I ran the Bosch pump part number and it was for a 4.0, so I'm guessing the sender is also from a 4.0 . I went and bought several 2.5 pumps and they are all too small for the 4.0 sender , the only pump I have yet to try is the Carter # p74032 ( no one has one locally). So has anyone made the two work together ? Or do I just look for a 2.5 sender (if that's the problem)?

Cleaned it up and took a couple more pics ... Need to sort out the floors and fuel pump /sending unit . Really a shame that the floors are rotted, it's a nice truck otherwise. -
