  1. Ok, so I think I've got a somewhat cheaper alternative to get this fixed. It's still going to require the fitting from Advanced Adapters to turn the pin-style clutch master cylinder into a -3AN connection: http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/716130--master-cylinder-fitting-for-jeep-yj-wrangler/ Next up we've got a pre-made 60" braided stainless steel hose with one straight and one 90* bend, both with -3AN fittings: http://www.racepartsolutions.com/prodde ... od=FRA3000 Now I just need to figure out what type of fitting I have on the clutch slave cylinder line. I intend on removing that pile of junk "quick disconnect" crap and replacing it with hard line fittings. There are quite a few choices for adapters that go from -AN style fittings to regular hardline tube fittings and I'm crossing my fingers that the size of the clutch slave cylinder is one of the choices in this link: http://www.racepartsolutions.com/prodde ... od=FRA6502 If so, I should be able to get all of the parts for under $70 shipped.
  2. My Siberian will chase just about anything, and if he catches it, consider it dead. So far on his kill list are: 1 Porcupine 1 Cat 2 Mallard ducks 8 Chickens It takes a while, but eventually he'll get tired.
  3. Because you don't listen. You turn simple question threads into arguments and you are not satisfied with the answer until it is the one you came in originally looking for. So, in this thread, you have told me to not read your threads if I don't like them. Ok, done. But then you create this overly dramatic whiny thread that asks why everyone is ignoring you? Gotta love the irony. I actually like this thread, though. It shows your true colors.
  4. Sounds like it'll be a fun hands-on job! I've heard they treat their employees well over there.
  5. Offer him less because the grill is upside down.
  6. Although I love the MJ and would like to see them all preserved for years to come, I also feel that everyone needs at least one that they can beat the crap out of. You, sir, have found that very MJ...the passenger side of the cab looks NASTY!
  7. I've been shaving since I was about 15-16 - was only once every 1.5 weeks...what I'd do to get back to that. At 26, I have to shave every other day to keep up appearances at work. I have never let my full beard come in and I don't think I ever will until I'm retired. Should have done it in college to see what it would have looked like, but I was too busy trying to get the ladies ;)
  8. Driving home from work and lost all clutch pedal pressure. Coasted to the side of the road and found this: Was able to start the truck in gear and rev-match shift all the way home, which was sort of fun in rush hour traffic. But seriously, what kind of joke of a design is this? I understand that the clutch pedal pressure isn't as high as brake lines, but really? Anyone have any quick fixes for this? I don't have $100 to drop on an Advanced Adapters stainless steel braided hose and fittings.
  9. I've found some pretty valuable items that were already "picked" for me so I like to return the favor. Two of my most notable items were a Mopar trans cooler for a ZJ and a random stock sidemount intercooler - likely out of a DSM. It was $75 all-you-can carry day, so I threw both in my duffle bag and wound up getting $50 for the intercooler from a friend. Just about paid for my day! When I need to "dig" for items, I'll always disassemble everything in a nice, neat fashion - unless it has already been destroyed, then it gets ripped out. I usually fill the trunk of the vehicle up with the removed parts to pay it forward for the lucky fellow who needs them. The lower part of the dash in older XJs is a VERY common item to be destroyed. I've seen many bent in the 90 degree angle that the original poster mentioned.
  10. Rough dimensions off the top of my head: 16" x 7" x 8" The thing is massive. I'd suggest going to a pick'n'pull junkyard and scouring the engine bays of all of the cars they have to find one the size that you need. Check the import section. Any Japanese vehicle I've owned had an annoyingly small washer bottle.
  11. You also really, REALLY don't want most of the manual transmissions that came in the MJs.
  12. If you do the bucket seat swap and use the "rocket ship" style seats from the 2-door Cherokee's, then forget it...you'll never fit. I did that swap on my '88 Pioneer and I'm 6'1" and am damn close to the headliner. It supposedly raises the seating height about 2-3"...and I'll agree with that! But, my bench seat on my '92 has so many miles on it (235K+) that I sink into that thing pretty far and have a ton of headroom.
  13. No and no. Rob has a list of the last known '92's from this forum, but that doesn't mean there isn't someone out there driving around the last MJ ever built and has never even heard of ComancheClub. There are also a few sources that speculate when the last MJ rolled off the line. I'm still on the hunt to find the last MJ. I got close with my white '92 at 4/92, but not close enough :D
  14. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-Com ... vi-content Rob, I think I found the last MJ ever built! The owner claims it's a 1993, so he MUST be right...right? VIN: 1J7GJ36S6NL129711 It has some rust here and there, but actually doesn't look that bad. I think it's best feature is the interior...looks cherry!
  15. I pretty much did the same, although I got rid of the heater valve entirely - haven't had any problems with the heat or A/C yet. Got an overflow bottle from AutoZone:
  16. I have also been busy with work and getting down to Maryland to visit my GF, which means not much work on the projects... I got the drivers mount just about finished. I cut and hacked the drivers mount from the XJ donor and "fused" it together with the ZJ mount. The end result was a couple of additional mounting points. I now have the motor mount tied into the trackbar bracket like it is on stock MJ/XJ's. I fiddled with the passenger mount a little more last night, but I think I need to drop the engine back into the bay to do another test fit before I start drilling holes and welding in studs. I look forward to those pics. I'll get you some of my methods/fab work when I'm all done with it.
  17. /\ My Grandfather owned an '86, '88, and '92MJ and would "hand them down" to his kids when he got a new truck every three years or so. My Dad wound up getting the '86 and the '88, which were then passed on to me (still have the '88) > I made a 15.5 hour round trip in a single day trade a '91YJ for my '92MJ and made it back home in time for my girlfriend to cook me dinner \/ What is the best vacation you've ever taken?
  18. How goes it? Surely you have this thing running and driving by now :D
  19. Upgrade? Nah. I'd consider an aluminum radiator or high flow water pump and upgrade to the cooling system. I consider the open style cooling system the replacement to the closed system :D
  20. Next month. I am going part-time and eventually being replaced at my current job (by choice). Without a steady influx of income, I'm gonna need something to pay the bills :)
  21. Nearly three months later and I'm still at the same spot, but I hope to be updating this build on a weekly basis starting next month. I'll be working shorter hours at my job and putting more hours down at my shop. Some things I have gotten done are the driver side motor mount. I hacked up a ZJ and XJ drivers motor mount and formed a Frankenstein of a piece that now bolts entirely into place, although I did need to drill two holes through the frame rail. The passenger side will take a little more ingenuity, but I have some ideas floating around for that, too. My goal is not to simply get a pair of motor mounts in, but also try to increase their strength since I have decided to go with a slightly different plan for the engine - including a supercharger and all of the supporting modifications. My most immediate need right now is to find a front axle for the truck, so I can get it back to a roller and powerwash the engine bay in preparation for sandblasting and paint. To be continued...
  22. Looks like a fantastic time to degrease and powerwash that engine bay and trans tunnel! Since daily driver builds aren't ever that exciting, I gave myself the task of creating the cleanest XJ engine bay when I swapped motors in my '01XJ. When I lived at home, my father always complained that my '88MJ would leave oil stains in his driveway and that every 4.0L engine leaked oil, no matter what, even from the factory. It cost me hundreds of dollars in gaskets, seals, and o-rings, but my '01XJ hasn't put a drop of anything on the ground in 30K+ miles. Are you going to do any touch-up paint over the surface rust spots in the engine bay?
  23. I dunno - I'm in the market for a house w/shop (but in Maryland/Delaware/Virginia) and those are just the kind of pictures I would want to see! Would give me an idea of what it COULD be. The fact that a building on the property was used successfully used for an auto/fab shop would be a MAJOR selling point for me. Butttt, I'm sure I make up 1% of the buyers market in that regard.
  24. Yep - good solution. This is how I was able to sell the 4.0L in my '99XJ so quickly at my full asking price. In my high school auto tech class my first project was to pull a 3.8L V6 GM motor out of a wrecked, late 90's Grand Prix that was donated to the school, build a stand for it, and get it to run on the stand. It took a couple days to pull the engine, but then it took a few weeks yanking out the wiring harnesses and getting everything organized and in place. The thing ran great until a few years later when some knucklehead was running it and forgot to turn the water supply on and blew the head gaskets.
  25. That ad needs more pictures of the shop :D I can only hope to find a house with a shop for the price you're asking! Looking to move by the end of the year...just not that far west! Good luck with the sale!
