  1. Eagle is the expert on the proportioning valves, maybe he'll chime in. I'm not sure what the difference in f:r ratio is between the XJ and MJ blocks are. But when you say "replumb" do you mean simply replacing the MJ unit with the XJ unit or removing the O ring inside the valve like in the Lunghd article: http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Sus ... ve_Mod.htm. Because this would actually increase your braking pressure in the rear.
  2. Congrats Pete! :wrench:
  3. Good work, Thought I'd let you know that I received a vision from God, he said anyone who completes this swap gets to hang out with John Wayne and Steve McQueen in heaven and you all get to go wheeling together in a 5 trillion acre off road park designed specifically for MJs. It even has a snow cone stand. :wrench:
  4. As the great philosopher Napolean Dynamite once said, "LUCKY!"
  5. Anyone beside me notice that the front lower exhaust manifold bolt never wants to stay in? My two Renix 4.0s don't have em, practically every Renix I've seen in a JY is missing them too.
  6. I think the best measure of a suspension is one that keeps the truck level and under control. So you don't get killed, or worse, damage your MJ in a rollover! :smart:
  7. the cross members are different. AX15 crossmembers are dropped about an inch in the middle, opposed to pukeys which are just straight. pukey: ax15: The Wrangler AX 15 transfer cases are clocked different by the transmission TC bolt pattern. You can re-drill the TC bolt holes in the Wrangler AX15 for an XJ TC. Wrangler TCs are flatter than XJ TCs.
  8. I am very skimpy on my security system. 12 gauge shotgun, .41 Ruger Magnum and a 1927 Thompson, fully functional. Good luck, I quit shooting when, if, you can reach the street. After 3 years of Iraq, I don't do guns anymore, she's all yours my friend!
  9. A balancing and a new track bar did it for me. Exact same symptoms. Roger that, do as prescribed above. If you have a mild lift or a stock set up, ensure all joints are tight. I had several different mix and match lifts on the truck and had several instances of death wobble. Each time was simply an alignment problem or worn or loose part.
  10. I can't explain why but this aggravates me, maybe its just me.....I hate mysteries on an MJ. Maybe its because I'm on a health kick and trying to get my bench back up to 275 lbs and I'm not drinking as much beer and my tolerance is much lower, but tonight I'm cleaning up a 8 pack of 7.5% Guinness Foreign Extra Stout and MJ mysteries aren't jiving with me at this point. There will be no unanswered questions sir, someone sober will have to answer that.
  11. Thanks for putting the interior pics of the boosters on here. Pretty cool. After doing several of these since I did the write up, I'd say the easiest way to upgrade is to cut and weld the old rod end onto the new booster. Much Faster. Just measure the distance and get it right the first time.
  12. Yup, like he said, this is a great choice. Like everyone else said, the shocks are your limiting factor. I have the Rock Krawler triple threat on my MJ and it would probably flex twice as much, but my shocks limit the travel and the long arms never realize their potential.....shocks my friend, shocks!
  13. OK, where do you live, do you have a security system at you house, remote monitoring, IR trip wires, flood lights, killer chihuahuas or other type guard dogs? Anything else of the sort to prevent me from stealing this?
  14. Oh yeah, horses are potentially more expensive. Around where I live, the self proclaimed cowboy capitol of the world, home to a lot of big rodeo guys, Ty Murray, several others, trained horses sell for anywhere between 5K-20K or more.
  15. Beautiful horse. My 10 year old daughter does equine physical therapy. She loves horses, when I can afford a place to keep them, I plan to have more horses than jeeps.
  16. This sir, is a thing of beauty....its the thing poets in Paris wrote about in 1825, its like ripened cognac from 1765, its something Alexander the Great would conquer continents for, this door panel is the thing Hawaiian kings named volcanoes for, Michael J. Fox went back to the future for an interior like this and Michael Jackson "Beat It" for this, Muhammad Ali finally admitted, "No, this is the Greatest"!, Ronald Reagan tore down a wall to have this, Abe Lincoln wrote a proclamation about it, Einstein theorized about it, and I, my friend, wish I had a nice black interior too. This is the best door panel I've ever seen!
  17. Everything, transmission, TC, front D30, front driveshaft, from the donor XJ "should" bolt right in - except the rear drive shaft. Little safety reminder, get some quality 6 ton jack stands to support the truck when you're crawling underneath it. Also have some sort of secondary support.
  18. Dude your hair rocks, looks like mine!
  19. Yeah, I think there is a market for "rebuilt" OBDII V8 (or otherwise) style Jeeps. Like Chip Foose' "New" 69' Camaros, Hemi JKs, etc. Considering there's a huge fan base for MJs, XJs, ZJs and all Jeeps there certainly would be a market. But would it be a huge money maker, probably not. We just need some fool venture capitalist to hire all us CC guys to start such a business to know for sure. I think most people do it for the fun of doing it....mixing pleasure and business kinda changes the fun of it. Kinda like the thought of being a professional fishing guide, it doesn't stress me out when I don't catch fish, but if my livelihood depended on it, it certainly would. Man, your MJ is looking great so far, excellent work! For a small lift, I think military wrap and sprung under is the way to go.
  20. Being essentially the same weight and proportions, you could stroke/bore it out to a 390? If it was a Gen 1, I'd say you'd need 3" lift springs for a V8 ZJ or F150 springs. Its the "Jeep" in me that drives the "more is better" mentality, but I understand wanted a child from the whole family. I'd love a V8 MJ like that.
  21. I know dude, I know,,,,,my brother had my Halo disc, but its in TX and I'm in GA. I'm in GA in a hotel, I'll hit up Game Stop here tomorrow and get another Reach disc. I'll promptly get online and you sir may whoop me then. I have a Reach edition 250 gig Xbox, does that count?
  22. Just read up on the old AMC V8s,,,,,dang shame there's not more of them around, super strong but heavy. What's the plan for the front springs? V8 ZJ springs?
  23. My goal is to be the first person to make an offer for it when you finish! :wrench:
  24. Good work man, thanks for all the pics! :wrench:
  25. No, its unnoticeable. Its why Jeep dumped the CAD. Good truck and good work buddy!
