  1. Had to take my old man to a VA appt in Temple today. After that I went to pull a few MJ parts. Went to the same yard in Belton and same MJ that I got the blue tailgate from. It's in 1000x better shape than mine, kinda of a shame its in the yard. It had a black column so I pulled it, the taillights screws wouldn't budge so I left em...also I needed a leaf spring. This red one only has one present...but again, the eye bushings were rust welded to the bolts and I was tired of crawling around in the dirt so I gave up...I'll have to find another spring elswhere. Also, I had already pulled some offset D44s for a separate Willys build, but couldnt get them out from under the FSJ I unbolted them from...got the yard guys to fork em for me, I'm too old and broke to be heavin axles around any more, a 12 pack of coors light got em loaded for me.
  2. Can't get the doors open enough with it on the trailer to fit my fat butt inside to clean it out. Haha. That'll have to wait.
  3. Here's a new MJ I recently picked up in TX. It's been sitting for 20 years. It's a 2wd 87' Sportruck with a 4cyl/4spd. Someone previously did me a favor by pulling the rear D35 and stripping most of the engine. That made pulling it a little easier. When I get it back to GA I'm gonna try to knock it out quickly. I've got a ZJ 5.9 and assorted parts in the garage. I'm gonna keep it 2wd so I'll have to source a 2wd 46RE/RH for it. This is the hot rod MJ build thats been brewing in the back of my mind for a while. Hopefully I can get it going soon. I'm thinking of a very bare bones harness for the engine and headlights and instruments and not much else. Here's a few pics. When I get back to my computer I'll tidy things up with the post. Had to clear some junk out of the way to get to it... My cousin on the forklift getting it on the trailer. The 5.9 ZJ earning its keep pulling another jeep home. The PO had a barn full of all sorts of cool tractors, trucks and hot rods. A Cummins powered AutoCar, extremely cool! The property had plenty of old trucks and 5 tons. Okay back to the MJ... Stopped by the neighbors and pulled the engine/trans. It's good to have redneck friends who'll let you come over unannounced and pull an engine in their driveway. They had an a frame just sitting there waiting for me, haha. It's out... Cleaned out the bed. It also has a black interior! Alright, my first phone tapatalk post hope it shows okay. I'll try to keep the build posted when I get back to GA. Jeep on!
  4. No, sorry, rock is dead, there's no one to blame...that's just the way it is. Good hard rock is a dinosaur today. There are no good hard rockin bands nowadays. Sure plenty of screamin punk and no good hardcore bands, but they're all a niche. We'll never see another Stranglehold, or Maiden's Trooper on the popular airwaves again...just a bunch of hick hop and rap crap.....for the next foreseeable future. Clutch may be the only good active hard rock band alive.
  5. edit:::delete... :thumbsup:
  6. I think you be better off finding a used parts washer or getting a cheaper harbor freight version. That way you're not running an extra hot water line in the garage for a dishwasher, also I doubt a regular dishwasher will get hot enough to deal well with the build up of grime on auto parts. Also it won't be able to reach into small hard to get to areas on parts. Since the water is sprayed from the bottom, you'd get a clean bottom of the part, then the top will still have "cleaned" grime on it. Not that bad in theory, I just don't think it'll work all that well.
  7. I shouldn't say they're stupid cars,,,,I guess I'm just too darn big to fit in them. Quite jealous of you actually Yellaheep, would love a Grand SRT8.
  8. I've rented a new Challenger, Charger, and a new Mustang, my buddy has a new Camaro. I don't care how fast they are, they're all horrible to drive. The side windows and rear windows are dangerously tiny. They're death machines, you cannot see around you, the rear view mirrors are tiny. IMHO, they are stupid cars with gargantuan blind spots. These cars will get you killed when you try to change lanes on the interstate and can't see the big @$$ Kenworth right beside you. I love Mopar, but all the latest muscle cars are simply too dangerous to drive, you can't see anything, much less anything over the hood. They're really bad. I'll take a much slower ZJ or XJ, in one of those, I can actually see the traffic around me.
  9. I know Kelly Pavlek, boxing might be my fav sport. Saw Jeff Lacy take a dive a couple of nights ago, sad.
  10. I'm sitting in the Howard Johnson by the speedway right now, just finished a couple of days at Disney and Orange Lake, I'm whooped,,, took the kids to the dog tracks this evening and had a good time. Tomorrow we're going out on the critter fleet outta Ponce Inlet....will post pics of red snappers tomorrow!
  11. Heck yeah!
  12. More rock, no one rocks like this anymore....
  13. Figured it out. You just have to copy the image location out of the bbcode.
  14. My son caught his first redfish the other day. 10 years old and announced that he was a man now and could bait and cast his own pole, haha....usually I do all the work and if I hook something I'll discretely let some line out and tell them the kids to check the bait. This time he did the casting himself and caught this awesome fish.
  15. Doesn't matter who you are, sometimes a oil pan gasket or RMS will leak after you put em in. Its just the nature of the beast. Best tip I'd give is to remove the pan and let it drain overnight and and take your time cleaning the block and oil pan mating surfaces real good. Personally I think the oil pan is easy compared to the valve cover, I just can't get my fat hands on to that rear valve cover bolt. I use an cordless impact driver on the oil pan, can have it out in minute or so.
  16. Super nice clean truck, wanna sell it? :brows:
  17. I'm up in GA, but I've driven my 5.9 ZJ down there a few times. I've hit Hanky Pankys, and every questionable establishment and the Iron Boot as well as all the roadhouses on the N Florida coast a couple of times.
  18. Shoot, now flikr changed up the options,,,,now I can't figure out how to post anything.
  19. Yeah The Who is some good rock for sure!
  20. Btw Don, when I was 18 I listened to the entire George thorgood set on cassette while on a motorcycle trip on my 84' Honda V65 through west Texas. Someone stole my helmet in Del Rio, then almost got myself killed in cuidad acuna on a late night trip across the border, but that's a story for another time. Mexico border towns 20 years ago were nicer back then.
  21. My only son is 10, and surrounded by 3 teenage girls, I can't wait for the day he asks for a Mohawk or flattop haircut and a ticket to a Motörhead, Clutch or an Ozzy concert.
  22. Heck yeah, if we don't teach these kids how to rock no one will! If left to current pop influence, the girls are being pacified and the boys are being feminized. Every kid needs good hard rock to grow up.
  23. While on a recent roadtrip with a ZJ full of teen girls and after a couple of hours after being tortured by their teeny bopper pop music, I couldn't take it anymore. Normally when I'm cruising by myself I listen to Texas country and western and/or Americana type music from all sorts of artists from Canada to Mexico.....but none of that junk Nashville pop country crap, that stuff is worse than rap, I listen to real country and western nowadays, but years ago I used to rock out pretty hard. Anyway, I felt a need to educate these youngins on good hard rock n' roll but couldn't find anything good on the radio. All rock stations these days still play 90s grunge bands music, there's no good plain ole' rock nowadays. Besides for a few bands, there's nothing good nowadays. I guess all the record label money is in the rap genre.....I think its sad. So I tortured them with some of this for the next couple of hours, real hard rock, not metal, not punk, just good ole fashion hard driving rock!:
