  1. Yep. I do not have much credit history due to my age. I only have one credit card and have always paid utility bills on time (if they even report?) and have paid cash for vehicles. My credit scores (all three) are good. But I tried to apply for a credit with my local bank and was declined due to lack of history. My wife, who has a handful of store credit cards and has a score several points less than mine was approved for the same credit card through our local bank. :hmm: :huh???: I don't get the who process and how they calculate risks/etc. But I will continue to maintain a zero balance on all debts if possible. It seems the safest to me and would make it more difficult to get into trouble. Well, except for a mortgage we will have in a month. :rotf:
  2. Congrats!
  3. Welcome to the club  Looks like a nice truck
  4. For me? Maybe $5K if it is clean and true. I am not a huge fan of the Street MJ but I do respect its history ;)
  5. Your idle air control (IAC) could be sticking a little. Pull off the throttle body and give it a good scrub.

    Another new guy

Wow that is one clean truck. Welcome to the club and watch out for Jim.... You'll know when he posts! :D
  7. I am not sure if the house would qualify for a Rural Development loan or not. With our combined salaries, my wife and I do not qualify since she was promoted at work. We are going the conventional route. Good luck working with the bank on the short sale. I'll never understand why banks drag their feet on those deals. You'd think they would want them gone.
  8. Offer submitted, offer accepted. Got to call the inspector to set up a time later this week for a walk through. Image Not Found In a smaller town with almost 7 acres. No shop, but plenty of space for one. Was owned and built by the same.couple in '58 until last year when she passed away.
  9. I have no doubt you will enjoy your stay in our little corner of the Jeep world. Welcome to the madness :brows:
  10. MTR w/ Kevlar would be my choice if you did not include the STT ;)
  11. Nope. There was one other. BTW - it takes more paper work to ship to Canada than it does Australia. And probably the same paperwork to get one to Kuwait, sorry for the extra hassle Actually, no. Technically its not being shipped to another country since it is going to a military mail sorting facility here in the US first.
  12. 315/75R16 STTs have a tread depth of 20/32nds new. I just measured all 5 on my TJ (I do 5 tire rotation) and they had 12-13/32nds at about 35K miles. That is very good wear for an aggressive tire with great traction. Be sure to shop around for tire prices. I don't recall how much I payed, but I do remember a $75 price difference between various tire shops when I was calling around.
  13. Nope. There was one other. BTW - it takes more customs paper work to ship to Canada than it does Australia.
  14. This was going to be my next question. The 207 I have does have the standard yoke on the front. Do the NP231 and 207 share the same size u-joints? I would like to use the front driveshaft from the 99 parts XJ in this truck. Might need it cut down, but that would be no problem since I will be getting a new rear shaft anyway.
  15. I feel obliged to post a picture of my new MJ here: I plan to restore the topper and install 97+ XJ racks to the top.
  16. Thanks for the input Correy. I will probably just stick with the ol' 207. I've got a hard time believing the 2.5 could do too much damage to it. Any of the t-cases readily that came with the MJ will feel like they have a 'high' low range to me after running my Rubi's 4:1 for 8 years :ack:
  17. My new 4cylinder truck has blessed me with an NP207 transfer case. Having never delt with this t-case I had to do some research. It seems most folks don't hold the 207 in high regard. Poor oiling, noisy and a higher low range seem to be the biggest qualms for this t-case. I have also come across several 207's mentioned having a cracked case. What are the type of failures common to this transfer case? In what conditions are they occurring? I currently have the AX5 and 207 sitting on the shop floor to install a new clutch. Now my question is, would a 231 or 242 really be an upgrade? This truck will primarily be a daily driver with occasional wheeling, think Ouray, Colorado terrain. It will probably never see a tire bigger than a 30". The closest 231 with a 21spline input shaft I have been able to located is 3 hours away. Thoughts, opinions?
  18. Congrats on your new buddy!
  19. The tires are a 30x9.5 and the truck has no lift. I believe you can fit a 31x10.5 tire on a stock MJ with little to no rubbing.
  20. I really wish I would have ordered a hoodie. They looked sooooo good. :fs2: PS, Pete had the biggest order :rotf:
  21. Today a good friend of mine picked up the truck and hauled it to his shop. He will be welding in new floors/patch panels. I am not looking for a pretty repair job, just something sturdy that will keep the dirt on the bottom side of the cab. Pulled with his sweet Dodge. Truck didn't even realize the MJ was on the trailer :brows:
  22. I have another guess, relating to a certain panel that is only found on certain model XJs that is hard to find. 2 door switch panels?
  23. I was trying to think of something that you would be looking for that you don't have and the only thing I could think of is a factory roll bar. That's my guess. Maybe a spare tire :rotfl2:
