  1. True, thanks for pointing that out. It is indeed a NP207 manufactured in 1985. However, the t-case is attached to the internal slave ax5 sitting in the bed which would indicate an 87+ assembly. At least I thought the 86's had an external slave....
  2. Take a look at other Cooper's as well. Cooper is the leader for Hybrid (at/mt) tire manufactures. They have quite the variety. I have 35" Cooper STT on my TJ and will say they have been a great tire. I have over 30k miles on them and they continue to perform well off road and stay quiet on the road.
  3. The blinker and hazard flashers are located on the fuse block on the driver side. Also check for corrosion at the bulb sockets.
  4. That definitely sounds like drive line vibes.
  5. Can he remove the spring mount from his axle and get it welded to the new axle? I realize the swap would no longer be a simple bolt on job, bit the cost would be very little of you have or know somebody who has a welder. That picture makes me want to spray the spring mounts on my rigs!
  6. Are these the wheels you are refering to? I have a set of 4 of them that I was thinking of using for small tires in case I needed smaller ones for inspection but I guess I could part ways with them. I'll double check when I get off work today. Yep, those are the wheels I am after. If you have them, we can talk. Also, if you have the center caps :brows: Seems like most folks around here junk these wheels. Still on the search!
  7. 1986, Jeep, Comanche Custom 2.5L / AX5 / NP207 / HP D30 / D35 / LWB Build date: Door sticker is not readable Current Location: Central, Kansas Status: Project truck. *1/5/2012 truck awaits new clutch and transmission install. 8. Errrr  You are correct. I just pulled the title out of my files and it is indeed a 1986. Guess you can't always believe the seller. Thank you for setting me straight and preventing a major case of confusion at the DMV!
  9. FIRST COME FIRST SERVE I have a few extra shirts to sell. First come first serve, through PM. If you want one, PM me. Then post here. Don't miss out! What is available SOLD SOLD 1 - Orange M Long sleeve with Green logo $18 When ever somebody starts an order. The last order was over 2 years ago :shake:
  10. Something a little rare showed up today for this little utility truck: Yup, I got my grubby hands on an original Warn Hidden Winch set up. Some of you may recognize the packaging as this exact kit has been floating around the country for several years. This is NOT the factory hidden winch assembly that was available through Jeep. This was simply Warns rendition of the hidden winch mount (#22035) and has been discontinued for some time. Unlike the factory hidden winch, Warn designed an assembly that allows the winch to mount foot down. And proof that I do care about you guys: When I have time... I will scan the tracings and create a CAD file of the parts then build a replica  From my quick study of the pieces, the bulk of it seems to be cut from 3/16" C-Channel.
  11. I hate to see that kind of news. :( I have always loved your truck. So clean, so simple. I hope insurance treats you right :thwak:
  12. Congrats. You'll be hitched before you know it.

    car dolly

Where are you going with the load? I use Uhaul to move and haul things. They may not let you pull an MJ with a Dakota, but it really depends on what tow rating the Dakota has. The tow dolly straps are pretty well used up with a 30" tire. You may need to let air out of your tires, strap it down then add air to you tires (to protect the bead).
  15. I'm glad those who have received their shirts are happy. If you are still waiting, they are on their way. Mike, if you could have waited 5-10 years..... One of my ultimate goals is to drive the 92 to your neck of the woods. :ack:
  16. I will ease the minds of CC, your's is on the way :help: The last of 'em: Image Not Found
  17. Packed it up 10 minutes ago
  18. That's not cool! I had to buy my wife a shirt. She wore it all day yesterday. ;) I plan on getting the remainder of the shirts packed and shipped tonight.
  19. I choose not to cover the rails as I don't like the textured cap or the thick 'edge' that is created by the liner. It's a personal opinion. I am not a body or paint guru, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to mask a straight line around the rails. I think my biggest concern about applying liner over the rails and masking it would be the surface preparation. The liner really needs to stick to a sanded/scuffed surface. How you scuff in a straight line would be my biggest concern. I was pleasantly surprised how clean my masking line was along the tailgate and rear of the bed. I let the liner tack up quite a bit before removing the masking. I am sure there are helpful hits from professionals posted online that could help with the straight masking.
  20. Looking forward to seeing the new paint! Don't be afraid to spray the Raptor liner in yourself. Check out my 92 build to see how I went about spraying it in.
  21. Same here. I am a creature of habit and am slow to adapt to change.
  22. Welcome! In regards to build categories, you will have to start reading through all of the build pages as there is no break downs. Also, several builds start out as one thing and end up as something else. Regardless, I think the discussions found in every build thread is very valuable to somebody looking to build their own truck.
  23. Not in my company truck ;) but I rarely get to go that far east.
  24. I would suggest going as deep as possible. Once you try out 35's you will probably stick with them. However, if you are set on staying with the 33's, 4.56 would be a good.selection in my opinion. It is my understanding that you generally don't need to gear an auto as deep as a manual. I drove my TJ with 4.10s and 33's with a 5speed. It was not terrible, but it did require a lot of shifting on the highway to maintain 70mph. The same rig with 35s was a total dog until I went with 5.13s.

    new year

This seems like an appropriate post to share our Jeep resolutions for the year. I resolve to drive one of the MJs I own on the road this year.
