Just one. Currently non-running. It keeps me plenty busy and broke.

Tree crews ALWAYS give mulch away for free. Why? Its less they have to pay to dump their load of chips. I can about guarantee that you can call any tree service and they would be happy to dump a load of mulch/chips. Beware, most of the time mulch/chips are green and will nearly sterilize the ground beneath them. Not to mention its a giant magnet for stinging inspects and a terrible rotting smell. We get calls all the time at the power company from people who want mulch. That is until they figure out what it really is. If you know you are going to want mulch in the spring/summer, get it delivered in the winter when the wood is all dried up.

I have everything, but only parts are in good enough shape to use. In good shape: - Side marker lights - Front amber lights - Headlamp buckets - Header wiring harness - Passenger side plastic bezel Parts would need shipped. If you are interested let me know and I'll check on shipping cost.

Just had the same thing happen on our 93 XJ. She sat over the weekend, I fire it up to take to the gas station 10 minutes down the road. Filled it up and tried to start, nothing but one click. Jumped it and drove the 2.5 hours home and parked it. Tried to start again and all I got was a little whine. New battery and she is back to normal. Granted, the battery was put in by the previous owner back in 2002! Pretty good life out of the cheapest autozone battery if you ask me.

Which states/countries have you visited in your MJ?
87Warrior replied to beepbeepmyredjeep's topic in The Pub
Mine spent its life in KC ks/mo then where I bought it in central MO. Since then it hasn't gone more than 200 miles from home in KS. Once she is done, I do plan on taking it all across the West, probably 2000 miles from home. So far it is the only Jeep I have had that has not left me stranded at least once. However, it is made up of parts from AR, to PA, to CA. -
Sounds like a great time! I have grown up listening to nothing but the good classic rock tunes. And because I am a young pup at 24, I was never able to see any of them in the original days. The music never gets old and is just easy to listen too. Here in KC there is quite the summer time line up of my favorite artists, including: Kansas, REO, Pat Benetar, Rush, Skynard, Tom Petty, Alice Cooper, and Peter Frampton. Its a shame the tickets are so expensive, other wise I would see them all!

That is a steal! And if the motor runs smooth it is even better than a steal! I searched for almost a year for a 97+. Found a 99 that was rolled and thought $900 was a decent deal.

Where can I get one of these?
87Warrior replied to bighause's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have to ask why you say that. My TJ sports an RE front trackbar of the same design, and truth be told, it is the ONLY part (with exception of the springs) from the original RE kit I have not replaced due to failure in the 6 years since I installed it. Yes, even the brake lines failed on me a couple years ago. I do not know much about suspension design/geometry, but I do know that is one piece that seems to have held up over time. -
Hey, its ok. My last big purchase was the Vanco brake kit for the TJ, so the MJ just gets torn apart now. I would like to pick up some axle shafts before I throw on the brakes. You know, the whole year it apart once philosophy.

That would be a pretty easy photoshop on a blue or white truck. It is always hard to forget your first love. Mine was a terrible running 90 YJ that would have made my MJ seem like a new caddy. Had a 4.2 with a slight knock and an AX15 with 2 shot syncros. I learned a lot with that rig but it wound up in pigeon ford TN. Image Not Found

Well.... Welcome back! :wavey:

Fix wheel position; spacers the answer?
87Warrior replied to streetjeep2.5's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have had a good experience with the SpiderTrax spacers on my TJ. I wanted to keep the factory Moabs with 35s. As previously mentioned, hubcentric is the key to a safe spacer on a Jeep. -
Just remember, Ford and Willys never produced a vehicle called 'Jeep'.

2 or 4 wheel drive?

What make was that torque wrench? I want to see this diesel chipper!!! I am a utility forester for the local energy company. Some of the equipment the tree crews have is just amazing.

It was much easier than expected. I particularly like how the AW4 is connected to the shifter. I was dreading some pain in the butt through the floor linkage. The John Deere 4210 did great! Somehow I managed to misplace my good load leveler and had to pick up another from AutoZone. Luckily it held together for me. Someday I will get pics posted in my build.

Just find a set that has been sent through the ringer (I.E. Rock rash) and refinish them. I picked up 5 for $200.

Hey, that's cool! There were no MJs at our local Jeep jamborre for cancer last year. Sadly I took the TJ.

As silly as I think the OEM roll bars look, I must agree with Pete. There are many more SWB roll bars out there. What you have is even more rare than a rust free bed and floor boards.

Thanks to everybodies tips-n-tricks, she came out with no problem (once the tcase linkage was completely disconnected).
-
Thanks for the advice. She is certainly coming out with the manifolds attached. Don't want to fight that battle! I did eye the dipstick/ground strap bolt, but it looked too whimpy. Any idea how much the whole sha-bang will weigh?

All right, bringing this back to the top. I have spent a fair amount of time trying to find appropriate chain locations on this 4.0 (which is certainly different than my TJ). I know the whole assembly will be very heavy, so I want to use all 4 attachment points on the leveler. I plan on using the front most head bolt stud along with the alternator/compessor mounting bracket bolt holes. In the back I will obviously use another head bolt stud, but I can not find another attachment point on the other side of the motor. I have thought about using yet another heat bolt stud, but am concerned with the weight distribution. Where do you guys chain up when pulling out the whole assembly?

I broke my gears in corectly. 200 miles of short trips followed by a lube change. Then I spent a week on the Colorado trails, about 400 miles. :clapping: Glad to hear she is purring down the road. But where is the eye candy!!!!???? We need pics!

Pete, 5.13s turned my TJ into a toatly different animal. Well worth the cost and 3 hour trip home (usually 45min but I had to let them gears cool down). The risk of issue is worth it and should be a non issue if a decent shop does the work.
