  1. eagle is the all-knowing, holy master of everything MJ. much respect.
  2. do it, is that DOT legal though? aren't there hella regulations on that?
  3. will it pull it? yeah will it be able to control it? errr, this is a 3,500Lb vehicle towing a 3,500lb vehicle on a (full?) trailer... thats alot of weight and its not gonna be easy to control. brakes? trailerbrakes and upgraded XJ brakes would be advised. i'd tow an XJ on a trailer with an MJ before i did the opposite, the wheelbase would help you with control
  4. Even on the road, IMHO, that axle isn't going to hold very long. Either go to smaller tires, or upgrade the axle if you want the 35's... we ran 35" BFGs on the same D35 my brother ran 33s on for years, for ONE day, it didnt even sound good. i'd upgrade as fast as possible.
  5. well, as far as wanting to swap transmissions and axles and all that goes its easy to swap over once you get all the parts... however being 'not mechanically inclined' puts a damper on that. ;) JohnQ is in texas somewhere, and his truck is a beauty. you don't need metric ton for a DD, but you may want to think about the AX15 for the future cause most puke-goats (BA10 transmissions) only last max of 200k, the AX is much more stout. and people don't think highly of the D35 rear either.
  6. as i was hoping he got back to me said its just been a hectic couple of weeks and hasnt been on much... but i did get an email from him today so hopefully its kosher. i don't plan on tellin noffin  less i have to GO after the money at that point it'd be fair game. but for now, all is well. now if rockhardzj screws me on that package thats comin I'm sayin it loud and proud :middle finger smiley from pirate: haha, jk man.
  7.
  8. more vacuum junk over by the heater core heading down to the axle disconnect and other stuff.
  9. this should be the coolant temperature sensor for the ECU (drivers side of motor, below intake/exhaust manifolds. this is what my PO did for the temp gauge: here you can make out that blue vacuum line which is plugged the same way on my truck miscellaneous vacuum and throttle body area: other vacuum by drivers fender, please ignore my hack-looking relay (for the dual electric fans)
  10. hey man, i just took you like 10 pics of my engine compartment and I'm workin on getting them up for ya.
  11. depends on how you look at it.. it aint bad based on going rates... yeah, but considering yuo could spend 4 months working on it on weekends (probably way less than that even) and do it for just the price of the tools and motor yuo need.
  12. yeah, try rolling the truck some because you're supposed to be moving ~1-2mph when you shift into 4lo so the gears might not be perfectly aligned, basically just rock it back and forth and eventually you will be able to slip it in.
  13. all the way towards the rear axle will be 4lo (trust me, my brothers linkage was broken for a while so it required manual shifting) use pliers or something to grab the little nub that sticks out and pull on it, or if its not hot you can pull it back by hand with a little 'uumph'
  14. i was pretty sure that wasn't 100% right (but it does work) , thanks guys.
  15. 2HI 4HI round the nub N 4LO IIRC the correct procedure is to put it in N at the case itself, then loosen the linkages up and put the shifter handle in N, then tighten it back up.
  16. got one waiting for that day in storage, ;) and I'm lining up an AX15 cause i can't imagine driving my truck wihtout shifting... having separation issues with the standard
  17. kinda like the D35, i've absolutely beat the piss out of my puke-goat for the past 20,000 miles (192,500 on the origional transmission) i don't know how it was driven before me but i frequently slam gears around and i KNOW it has been out of fluid two times for at least a month, and she still shifts GREAT... makes noise but shifts great. it will blow eventually, and I'm trying to replace it... but it's not THAT bad.
  18. saw this for taco's online, brother showed it to me... wonder how tough it'd be to modify one for a manche. http://www.adventuretrailers.com/trucks.html  cool idea
  19. so what you're saying is he has 7k in it because he actually payed someone to do all that stuff for him? a waterpump, t-stat, u-joints, and rear-main can all be done for probly around 100dollars if you're willing to do the work. tires and brakes are a bit more but. seven grand !?
  20. thanks for the inspiration pete... i know what i'll do with the goat when I'm able to pull her
  21. you mean this one? we wheeled with him at tellico when the XJ was stock. i rode in it across a creek... hella nice jeep.
  22. that makes two of us...
  23. we had to wheel the XJ off the trail with a bad alt, then idle while we filled up the tires, then drive 90 miles home jumping only like twice. optima batteries
  24. So? My next project MJ will see a 4.7L V8... :D gotcha, sorry, i keep forgetting not every jeep has the 4.0
  25. haha, maybe if you work straight through the night friday and saturday night and finish up sunday morning. thats a pissload of work for two guys in one weekend. trust me, we did it minus cam-install we just swapped the motor pulled the tranny+motor and bolted up the tranny to the new motor and put them both back in took friday saturday, sunday thru til 5am monday we fired her up
