rich fuel/air mix? emissions failure.
Oizarod115 replied to Oizarod115's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well i soldered in the 250 ohm potentiometer and perfectly as i suspected i can now vary the voltage from 5-4 which is perfect.  i set her to 4.7~ (thats a very unprecise measurement considering I'm using a few year old analog multimeter on a scale of 1-10 through 90* of motion. now how should i go about seeing if that is a good setting or not, its still got good power, i smelled the exhaust, seems a little cleaner, maybe not 100% burnt though. but its never gonna be perfect right? ..thanks for all the help on this one hornbrod -
i read through this and it sure seems like rocket science to me. :redX:

go to Comanche Club Image Hosting and sign up, (its free) then its gonna have upload pics, and upload them from the fiel on the compy then after they load up, under or beside the pic it'll say IMG code... click in that box and copy paste the code it has into your message where you want the pic to be. hit preview if you wanna see if its workin   can't wait to see em[/url] -
isn't that kindof a waste of money? mickey thompsons arent cheap especially in the 46" variety. (it did say those were baja claws right?)

to tighten the belt i usually tighten her until its not easy to get the belt to twist 90* on the longest stretch (there on the top easy to see) just tighten so it can twist striaght up and down but not much further its worked so far for me ;) don't think its real exact though

did a test on it today with the FLUKE meters from school, gettin 13.2 on the battery just chillin, and 14.37 across the battery with the truck running so she's not overcharging, teach figures some sort of internal short, i'll swap my old battery back in and take the optima back.

yea its all hooked up right.. and my 5v is red/white stopped by and got a pack of assorted ones including a 250ohm and two 200ohms... i'll burn the 250 in tonight... i figure if 25 ohm can move it .1 then 250 will move it 1.0ish right? idk, we'll see. -
uh, you're not really gonna REBUILD an aw4 are you? thats a HUGE waste of effort. i have no idea what a swap like that is worth. the parts alone would be a few hunge. really depends on stuck bolts and stuff and how long it ends up tying you up.
-
i think i'm gonna put my old batt back in and have them test the optima, if its bad i'll see about just straight up returning it, i could use the $$ right now instead of the extra CCA's

it is THE battery. tires are fine, and the truck was off. my stepdad hears it too and said the batteries they use at work do that and they get tossed outside (away from the shop) then discarded. its coming from the small little felt pad-like area near the negative terminal and the battery is less than 2 months old. and the alternator is less than 6months old and the cables are all new, so it shouldn't be overcharging. she read 12vish adn overcharged would be 14+

well i did this adj map sensor thing with a 25 ohm rheostat from radioshack and i can only adjust it about .1 and that only puts her at perfectly on 5. which i suppose is better than nothing, i wish i could find a 100ohm or 250 ohm one to try that might work better... and I'm wishing now i hadn't soldered all the connections becuase i'll have to heat them off to try a different one. -
working under the hood tonight (ignition on or off, doesn't matter.) i noticed my battery is making a slight hissing noise... which gets me REALL ancy after hearing my toyota-tech teachers many first hand experiences with batteries blowing up from people doing dumb stuff and so on. i know he said SOMETHING about batteries that are making noise like that but i can't remember what, does anyone know anything? this is an optima red top, and it got the living HELL rattled out of it on the access trails to tellico this weekend (very bumpy 20mph rd)

Gas tank/pump compatability
Oizarod115 replied to Twisty's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
problem is you're getting a longbed tank, as its an 86, and if you have a longbed thats just peachy... but if you have a shortbed it might not clear the axle and other stuff like that. so they were sayin if you have a small tank from a longbed it MIGHt fit there. -

well, just got back... for those that know tellico (and our jeeps) the XJ made it up gaurdrail, and upper 2, then we ran out of fuel (due to tipping up to about 60* on helicopter-pad, and had to siphon some from another rig to get running) made it up in the end though, uh, what else, all of trails 11, 4, 5, and 1 was pretty fun (dirtroad) manche was acting good, no breakages (even though our other buddy was running an open F&r XJ with a d35 on 33's (he made upper2 but bypassed the heli pad and gaurdrail) everyone was able to make the trip home under their own power, kicked @$$ basically pics/vid tomorrow (yeah, vids of near flips ) -
eh, use the name i made if it makes ya happy. ;) piss em off some-more.

Ipod's come in TONS of different ways. being that she's a young girl, she probably doesnt have ALL that much music to put on one, and therefore doesnt need an 80GB (yeah some have 80gb drives) another thing you'll need to ask yourself does she want a video ipod? the newest/coolest would be the smaller version the nano, full color 2" screen comes in 4, 8 and idk what else. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8500856&type=product&id=1186004970881 that would probably do the trick. they also make the same thing in a 4Gb which will hold like 1,000 songs, and cost 149.99 oh and they come in tons of pretty colors... so be sure to find out her fav. color ;) the pricing should be just about the same everywhere. oh, and don't try to get her one that's got better features unless its still and iPOD... to you and me the name won't matter, and might save money, but the name is probably worth it to her
