  1. My AX15 cleared with the stock crossmember, maybe save some $$$ try it see if it clears.
  2. Rewelded spring perches? Changed ring and pinion? To get different diff installed?
  3. If it was me and I wanted to run it for a while, I would have taken some kind of stone and "took the edge off" of the broken tooth. Might have helped, couldnt have hurt anything much worse.
  4. Would you mind finding me a link / part number? I still can't find it. Sorry I don't, that was just a suggestion on where to start looking or the JY.
  5. :agree: I got some full widths from a wagoneer that I'd like to run some day just for the hell of it.
  6. Its not a clip. Its a bushing, and they are made of hard plastic. Dorman might have what you need. They have the bushing kit for wipers , same type of design, just larger. I think TC linkage have the same type of bushings, not sure about the size, maybe scavenge from one of those.
  7. Kind of like buying your first snow mobile, they want you to get a smaller one till your comfortable with a bigger one. First day out....your ready for a bigger one. Me, I'd never build a 30 if a 44 could be had or even a 60 for that matter. You know the saying...go big or stay home.
  8. Try using flare wrenches (They grip on 5 sides), saves a lot of headaches, granted, they aren't perfect, but they sure are better than not using them at all.I would just replace the line. Not worth trying to salvage the old one, you would have to cut, straighten, put new nut on, flare, then rebend, easier to just put new line in.
  9. from what I understand, a Dakota pump/sender and tank are a doable swap into our MJs. Search is your friend.
  10. I would give between 5 and 7 hundred. For me that truck is too far gone. I would buy it for parts only. It does have a lot of good MJ parts. F/R skids buckets, console, tail lights, bedliner, rollbar....
  11. Not me...I have an OCD about loosing $#!&, If I was to drop a socket into a fenderwell, all work stops, The fender comes off so I can get my socket back. Just kiddin about takin the fender off but if my major effort at retreival doesnt work, then I have a socket rail that has an empty spot and the world just aint the same till I get its replacement. I've lost stuff, that I felt like looking at the GFs house for, although I know damn well that there was no way in hell it could have got there. Still looking for the coffee cup I lost last year....
  12. Heater box for AC, Condensor, HVAC controls, High & Low pressure hoses, High and low pressure switches, dryer.$$$$$$$$$$$$ Easiest if you can find an XJ with a 2.5, snag everything off of that.
  13. Jim's shop, you never know...
  14. Make sure motor and tranny mounts are in good shape, mine used to pop out in 4low till I adjusted the linkage and replaced worn mounts.
  15. Can you hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key to "on" but not to start? If "no' try jumping the fuel pump ballast resistor "ceramic looking rectangular thing" with two wires by air filter box on the left fenderwell. Do a search for a pic. Does it have "spark"...
  16. I'm kind of curious how you know what sound a strangled cat makes :dunno: Or is it  because you really do know...
  17. Better yet, big booster upgrade. If you gonna be tearing it apart, might as well make it stop better.
  18. What brand steering setup is that and if you don't mind how $$ Did it come with the drop pitman? Oh yeah, if you draw a line through the TB mounting points looks like a parallel line with the steering linkage
  19. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, means it absorbs water. This is why I don't like brake rebuild kits for the do it your selfer. There could be excessive corrosion in the bores or components caused by 20+ years of water saturated brake fluid. Only time I would use a rebuild kit is if the master or wheel cylinders were unobtainable or excessively expensive. Another downside is you need a brake cylinder hone which is another added cost if you don't have one.
  20. Use jumper wires, power up the fan, if it spins the wrong direction, reverse the wires.

Millions of people wouldn't be askin questions about takin ANY job, they would be boots on and out the door before your cousin could even say what or where.... That is unless your family has money and you can afford to piss around and do what you want...

Give it a try, you'll never be able to say you did unless you try it. From what I hear the money is
  24. Third controls EGR IMHO I would just replace them all, keep everything intact. Front and rear vacuum hose sets can be had new for about 50 bucks.
