So...my wife's car took its final drive...
dasbulliwagen replied to beepbeepmyredjeep's topic in The Pub
I agree about getting rid of the tires and getting something different. We here at the dealership see complaints with them all the time. Remove them and sell them all while they are still new looking so you can get some money for them and buy a decent tire. I love that color too, but I don't think I personally would like it on my MJ. Good score! -
You need to re read the post.... he didnt move it, and he had noticed it in the area for three months before he even looked at it. If anything needed to be done with it, it should have been done long before he took the axle out of it. The roads dept that moved it should have had an officer take down its info and taken care of it.... and maybe they did. Maybe it came back not stolen and the police washed their hands of it. I think enough time had elapsed that our original poster is safe. I think myself that hes lucky someone else like a scrap hauler didnt get to it before he did!

2WD MJ Suspension Questions/Input wanted
dasbulliwagen replied to Trix's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:agree: WFC took two beam front ends and basically cut the ends off of one up to the spring mounts, and the ends off of the other at the end of the axle, and stacked them on top of each other to create a drop front end and still have full springs for a good ride and better contol arm mounting locations for correct geometry. The rear is like you said with blocks to drop the rear, though depending on how far you go, you may need to reinforce and notch the frame. Theres another lowrider build on here, but can't think of his name.... he put a Comance body over an S10 frame and bagged it to the point of laying frame... it has a Wagoneer front end on it. Good luck and keep us posted..... and start a build thread! -
No they are completely different, youll need the dash harness as well, and the HVAC housing and controls, and then youll need to re wire your taillight harness to make all the lights work too....lots of stuff there. I'm sure someone who's done it will chime in with better details.

When I converted mine, I bought a pump from wherever, but couldnt find an aftermarket pulley or resevior. At the dealer, I found Chrysler restoration parts carried the pulley still, but no resevior, so I bought the pulley, and started looking around for a res. I knew the caravan one would be close and bought one and made it work, built a bracket to mount it to, and connected the hoses. Has worked fine for about a year now.. Good luck!

Do you mean 4:56, or 3:55? I think they were available with 3:73, and 4:10 stock... car-part.com says 3:27, 3:55, 3:73, and 4:10 depending on application.

Found these pics on NAXJA. Never seen any kind of reference to a mod like this here before, so I thought I would throw it out here for discussion.
-
Stole these off of NAXJA... thought they were interesting. I wouldnt do it myself though.
-
For what? If youre referring to a 2.5, then, no they don't... I had to make one for mine... used one frm a late model Caravan....One from a Chrysler 300 would also have worked..... This is assuming you had a remote resevior. If you have a 4.0 I think they are still made... some aftermarket pumps even have them built onto the pump already. Good luck!

HUH??? Are you saying welcome to CW???? :hmm:

Taxable value, at least in North Carolina, is property tax paid on your vehicles every year, based on the book value of that particular vehicle. Thats on top of the one time sales tax you pay when you buy the vehicle to begin with, and then theres yearly safety and or emissions inspection fees too. Gotta love it! :fs1:

XJ limited donor?!?
dasbulliwagen replied to MJ is dead's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The power seat adjustments are built to the frame, but if you unbolt the seats from the power frame, they MAY bolt up to the MJ tracks, you just wouldnt have power seats anymore. Not sure if the XJ seats had power backrest adjustment or not, but if it does you may have to rig power up to adjust your seatback... shouldnt be a big deal, but if I'm thinking correctly they didnt have that. I pulled power seats out of a 96 for my brother and it didnt have power backrest so you should be OK to just swap the seat pan and back. -
Mid '90's Ford truck color. I did this in a two tone on a 1959 VW Microbus I had. Great color blue. I think called Bright Lapis blue metallic. Just my 2 cents....

Yes, as long as all the pins on the relay are the same as the old one.
-
Pete, When you talked to the new owner.... did he assure you that he was buying this truck as a peice of american history, never to be touched or modified in any way? Or is he going to rape it by pulling the motor and swapping it into his other MJ, and drive the truck with a stock motor till the whole thing is rusted out? If he was one of the original builders hopefully he will keep it intact and true to form. You just never know with stuff like this.
-
I did this to mine, and you won't notice much if any, but with the 2.5, every little bit helps. You combine that with some other small performance upgrades, and then you might have something!

What if you could build a brand new Jeep Comanche?
dasbulliwagen replied to beepbeepmyredjeep's topic in The Pub
Have you priced a Wrangler lately????? Aint much difference between the two. The Wrangler is The best seller right now, so they don't discount them much if any. -
I guess I'm taking it for granted that the trucks I have have been unmolested for the most part. I got my 87 from the original owner who only ever kept anything bone stock. Good for me I guess! Good luck with your hookup!
-
I pulled a radio out of an 86.... stock radio that is, and it plugged right up in my 87.
-
If the column was swapped, hopefully they didnt play around with the wheel and spin it over and over on one direction..... that may have broken the ground wire going to the horn button by twisting it off. Just another thing to check. I'm not the horn has a relay though Ive been wrong before. Good luck!
