  1. It had to have one from leaving the factory. That plate light was on some MJ's from factory hidden up there... Rob L. Believe it or not, a rear bumper was optional. At least in Indiana. I remember being asked. I am sure I gave a look like this. If you look at my MJOTM link, at the bottom of the page is a quote in 1987 for a new MJ that I never got. They were going to search for one with the options I wanted, which included a rear bumper. Is that dumb or what? Trucks had laws that were much different than cars. Oh and the bumper was only $132 back then. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=21903
  2. Email is not encrypted and is sent over the internet in clear text. So sending a passord via e-mail is not secure. Obviously it is not a big security threat if someone figures out your CC password. I work for an e-commerce business and you would be surprised how many people send credit card info over email. Just thought I would share that with anyone who is listening.
  3. Very nice. :clapping:
  4. Sort of difficult to tell for sure but these sure look black to me. http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/pts/1709906427.html
  5. Congrats on that great looking red Eliminator. I agree with Don. And looking at your red truck makes me think mine should get lifted. I am getting a sudden urge to lift mine to the sky so I won't look at yours any more. And those red fender flairs are starting to grow on me too. Too many people cut the flairs off. Is that called Colorado Red?
  6. Yes I would believe it. Anything is possible from you dirty dogs that live outside the rust belt. Rust free parts probably fall from the sky. :D
  7. I have always wanted one of those but my wife thinks they look ___(fill in the blank). She doenst like my tonneau cover either. :huh???:
  8. That is exactly what I was thinking. :rotf:
  9. You lucky dogs down south. Would you be interested in shipping a good condition OEM bumper? Shipping it may be a hassle. I have no idea.
  10. I believe they were made in the same plant too.
  11. Nice Jeep. Nice color choice too. jk-forum.com has a classifieds section. New Rubicon owners sell their Rubicon tires & rims there all the time. I just don't know for sure if they will fit on an unlifted jk (that is my disclamer). But usually they sell for about the price of just the tire. Sometimes less. Then you can have two sets of tires & wheels. One for when you drive it and the other for her. :clapping: You could also keep an eye out for Rubicon coils and shocks. I think that gives you a 2" lift. They give those away too. By the way, 2 door all day long.
  12. I knew I was gonna get it by saying that. Sorry guys. I wasnt refering to it's ability, reliability or design. I've never even driven one. I was refering to the "value". The 4.0 has quite a reputation that goes outside the jeep community. That reputation is worth money and resale ability. If you wanted to sell it, everyone knows the 4.0. If it is an awsome deal with a 4 cyl in it, then go for it. Otherwise, I would wait for a 4.0. If he lives in the south where there is less rust problems, then he has options.
  13. don't mean to offend anyone but if it is not a 4.0 liter, I would stay away from it.
  14. Have you priced a Wrangler lately????? Aint much difference between the two. The Wrangler is The best seller right now, so they don't discount them much if any. Yea, I own one. 2009 Rubicon.
  15. I am sure I will offend some but... I live around Fort Wayne Indiana. Until the '80's, International Harvester made the Scout in Fort Wayne. While I recall the drivetrain was unstoppable, that thing was made out of Kleenex box. I am sure it would rust even if you mentioned "water". You would see those things running around with fenders wobbling and about to fall off. Cheapest steel imaginable. The round headlights make the XJ look like the next generation Scout. Barf.
  16. Yea. Poor ol' Tim is gonna have to wait a little while to get $3k for that.
  17. I am gonna get grief on this but put it on a reinforced JK unlimited frame (no unibody). I like the thought of rubber bushings. Solid axles. D30/D44. Small CRD diesel. Hemi would be optional for the folks that don't understand the benifits of Diesels. Interior has screws visible everywhere so it can be tore apart if needed. Carpet is an option. Needs to have a Chief option like the '70's had with the indian blanket interior. Should be at the price point of a wrangler, not a grand cherokee.
  18. Rain or shine, don't forget to post a pic of your truck.
  19. I have a Fey. Personally, I believe it is stronger than OEM. I would rather have OEM but they are difficult to find in good condition.
  20. I know there are aftermarket fuel pumps. Anyone? I don't know if these guys can help or not: http://www.wholesalemopar.com/
  21. Or Mobil 1 Diesel. It is synthetic, SL and has a larger volume of zinc/Phosphorus.
  22. Congrats on the new truck. :clapping: FYI my fuel pump on my '87 is pretty loud even with the engine off and the ignition turned on. It was like that when new. Almost sounds like a bilge pump on a motor boat or a significant air leak. Oh, and one more thing, don't forget to post pics of the new truck.
  23. JK's really got a bad rap but personally, I like how it sits, rides and drives. I bought a 2 door Rubicon last year. I live on a rough dirt road that suspension on that thing eats it up. It does surprisingly well on plowed frozen corn fields if your mom does that frequently on the way to the grocery. It is a wind brick though. My daily driver is a chevy tahoe and I doubt the Rubicon gets any better gas mileage. Rubicon gets you a D44 f&r, locker, electronic sway bar disconnect, better transfer case and 4.10. Rubicon also has some funky springs and shocks that never cease to amaze me. I took it to the badlands last summer and it did very well. The engine gets a bad rap (perhaps deserved and possibly not). It is a very proven engine but it is not a muscle car. I don't think I would want a JK with any gear ratio other than 4.10. I like the 4.0 much better. But heck, I like my comanche better. But I can certainly tell the JK has 20+ years of engineering ahead of the comanche. Personally, I don't care for the appearance of the 4 door unless it is a rubicon. Rubicons have slightly oversized tires and the 4 door looks out of proportion to me with smaller tires. And of course, for the price, you get a lot more stuff. If you need ammo to convince her, tell her they depreciate slower than anything on the road. Have her take a look at kelley blue book for a 3 year old Grand Cherokee Limited. Then a 4 door Rubicon of the same year. One depreciates like a brick. The other only feels like one.
  24. I found this article helpful. It supported what most were already saying. http://www.aa1car.com/library/api_motor_oil_classifications.htm I am gonna try Mobil 1 synthetic Diesel 5w-40 and see what happens. 1100ppm phosphorus/1200ppm zinc.
