Comanche insurance value?
glundblad replied to magellan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, if the kid had Progressive insurance or Geico, it will be a lot tougher. According to the body shop I spoke to when I got hit, "Any of those 1-800 insurance companies that advertise on TV". I was hit by a Progressive insurance driver in my Tahoe in 2002. It was 6 months old and had well under 10k miles on it. They were calling junkyards for used parts. Then they leaned on the dealer to use aftermarket. -
whats paint is good for front end parts?

I can't resist. What is the story behind this? -

Wait, now I'm confused. I thought any XJ seats required some bracket modification - perhaps I misread before? You have not misunderstood. You are correct assuming you have XJ buckets '93 or older. The floorpan bolt pattern (and shape) is completely different than the XJ. You would take your MJ bench seat brackets and grind the rivets off which separates the top have of the bracket from the bottom. That will give you the bottom of the bracket which mounts to your floor. Then use the top of XJ bucket brackets which will bolt directly to bottom half of your MJ brackets. Then you are good to go. From the cab forward, the floor pans are about the only difference between an MJ and an XJ. That and the coolness factor of course. :clapping:

Hey Don, Does your truck ALWAYS look like that? Have you ever considered driving it periodically? :rotf:

I don't know if this helps (or if I am right for that matter) but I assume it is either your DNS has been hijacked or your web browser has been hijacked. When I ping http://www.comancheclub.com, I get a reply from 208.92.161.68. If you don't, you can try flushing your DNS. (ipconfig /flushdns). Alternatively, you can point to a different dns server. I use 4.2.2.2. It is verizons dns. If you do this, you will still need to flush dns. Changing the dns server and then doing a good ol reboot will work. Write down your original address before you change though. Just in case you don't like the result. If that doesnt work, I would guess you have some crap inadvertantly installed on your computer. Spyware scanners may help you there. You may be able to work around it by using google chrome too.

Rough Idle ! ? ! Tune up time ? ? ? . . .

:shake: -
No it is not normal. I have an '87 too and it runs like it did when I bought it in '87. It may be one of the many sensors in the engine. If it is dialed in correctly, it will run smooth as silk. I had a rough idle problem about a year ago. I couldnt rememeber what was done to fix it so I searched for the post. Here is a snipit from that post: I took the comanche into the shop (yes, the dealer ). It has been running very well except for at idle. Then it was a little rough. I already replaced quite a bit. Rotor, plugs, wires, iac motor, o2 sensor, injectors cleaned. I was really running out of ideas. I was able to request a guy that had a 4.0 and worked there for a long time. He replaced the EGR valve and a solenoid vacuum switch whatever that is. It is smooth as silk now.

89 Comanche "Show Truck" on Ebay
glundblad replied to HOrnbrod's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Why do you think the only interior shot is of his door handle? Mine has door handles too. Do you think it is because orange doesnt match the red interior? -
sounds like a wild one -oregon ---10,000

for a truck that has been hacksaw'ed  -
The lack of air movement, condensation and moisture coming up through the concrete slab will cause that. That is why they store classics in heated garages.

Comanche Club record breaker. now on for Sunday@10pm eastern
glundblad replied to Automan2164's topic in The Pub
No way. He recently upgraded to a 100mhz celeron running windows 95. He is in good shape now. -
I am no mechanic but I would say absolutely no relationship whatsoever. A steering stabilizer is nothing but a shock absorber for your steering. It absorbs bumps and keeps them from traveling up to the steering wheel. It does not keep anything from rubbing (unless of course something is bent).

Elkhart. They have their share of problems. That poor lady. She might get the tub back...

My bench didnt have a headrest. I didnt like that. I also didnt like adjusting the seat, especially with passengers. The thing I disliked the most was it always seemed too soft or broken down. Even when it was new. It was just very uncomfortable.

88 MJ long bed, frame rot repair
glundblad replied to LarryH88bt's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I didnt realize comanches were suseptible to rust in those areas. -
Thanks. I must confess I doctor'd that photo. I have ugly husky floor mats down at all times. When I take photos, I always remove them. Black shows dirt terribly bad. don't forget. Those seat covers really do clean up as easily as Paul said. Mine were 4 door. The bezels to the two door levers may be a little delicate. So I would be careful with those. Also, don't use a front load washing machine like I did. The hardest part may be getting them to dry. I set mine in the sun and it worked great. Problem is the sun isnt as strong now as it was awhile back.

Very Nice Rob.

Wow, back in the day, when we bought our '87 new, it didnt come with AC so the dealer installed it for $870+/-. I didnt realize it was that drastic to put one in.

It has been almost 10 years since we have had no television. No antena, no cable no nothing. I couldnt even tell you what was on. I have heard of "The Office" and "Lost" but never seen them or even know what those shows are about. I hear of "Dancing with the stars" which sounds as exciting as getting my skull drilled. :shake:

I found a long wheel base factory roll bar at a junkyard in northern Indiana today. It had some surface rust but easily painted and appears to be in great condition. I didnt ask what they wanted for it. If you pm me, I can give you directions on where it is located.
