  1. I have a confession. I live in a woods at the foot of a hill. And there is no clear line of site to southwest for directtv and I am in the country so no cable. We don't even have a TV so I couldnt watch the game if I wanted to. We havent had a TV for over 10 years. No cable, no terrestrial antenna, nothing. I'm not amish. I have a HD front projector with a 10' diagonal screen with an extensive DVD/Blu Ray (and laserdisc) collection. But I don't own a tuner. So we watch movies. But no TV. I couldnt name a TV show that is on now days if I had to (ok I know Opra is on, but that is it).
  2. Does "Bob the bed" mean that you are going to cut it up? That's a nice looking truck.
  3. Mine went away when the doors needed replaced. The body shop cut it off the door but you couldnt read any of it anyway. The labels were legible but the vin and dates were not. The years caused mine to fade away.
  4. I plan to replace my rear speakers with something that is capable of reproducing music. I really don't want to replace my factory radio because to an old guy such as myself, the ones made today look like Dart Vadar's pacemaker and they don't really match a 25 year old truck. Assuming I replace the speakers with something better, has anyone installed an external amp to a factory radio with good results? Is there a difference between a 1987 wiring harness and a 1988 wiring harness for the radio?
  5. My factory slider is three panes of glass and only one slides. At least that is how it was in '87
  6. I know of one member but he is near Ft Wayne. :wavey: And he doesnt get his truck too dirty. :shake:
  7. Hmm, I just don't know... And to think someone spent their free time doing that.
  8. I cannot stop looking at this. What kind of an idiot would do this and actually think it was going to be a good idea?
  9. I couldnt finish watching that. :(
  10. Yea, yea. I'm a network guy. I have run into you folks before. Fling it on the wall, see what sticks and call that the solution. :rotf: Pete, if the furthest you get is US30 in Indiana, give me a call and I will help you get back home.
  11. I never paid attention but I assumed it was simply an LED and there was no light. Consequently, if it doesnt illuminate, it is going bad. But as I say, I am only assuming. Anyone?
  12. I'm with you Brandon. I don't like that front end either. It looks like an old Dodge ram. Ignore Don. What do you expect from a guy that makes his dog smoke. :rotf:
  13. I have two of them but not the year you are looking at. One is a 2002 and the other is a 2003. Both have been very reliable with no mechanical issues and each have about 100k on them. I wrecked one with about 6000 miles on it. They are tanks. A lady pulled out in front of me. Her car was messed up pretty good and leaked fluid all over the road and needed to be towed. While mine was damaged, I drove on to work. Both of mine are Z71's which seemed to have a different suspension than the others I looked it. They were able to glide over our rough dirt road pretty well. Tahoes can tow quite a bit too. My only complaint on the later model ones is the paint on one of mine (the 2002) didnt seem to have enough paint on the door seams. Rust started there fairly quickly. I had them repainted so that was the end of it. The 2003 didnt have that problem.
  14. There was also a post that said Taurus trunk lights work too but do not require any triming of the interior panels. I havent tried it yet but I thought I would give it a try. I would be very careful about buying used OEM B Piller lights off ebay by the way. Some guy was selling a pair awhile back with broken tabs. I think everyone has a pair of those. :shake:
  15. S ... s ... s ... sell? What language is that word from? It is not recognized. This man is sick. :rotf: :rotf:
  16. I really don't have a build thread but I wanted to show everyone what the interior looks like now. I put the cloth seats in storage and replaced them with black XJ leather seats. They came from a 4 door so they don't tip forward. I think they came from a 1987 or earlier XJ. They had no tears in them but leather tends to crack over time and the cracks loose their color so I redyed them. I hope everyone approves of the change.
  17. At 4:00am EST, I'm the only one on. :dunno:
  18. I have a "New to Me" factory rear bumper that is at the body shop getting repainted. I am looking for rear bumper end caps and the top rubber step in excellent, unoxidized condition. Everything that I have seen around here looks like it has never seen a garage a day in it's life. It is faded to gray. Armor All makes it black but it looks like a rotted old tire. I will be out of town next week so if someone pm's me then, I may be slow in responding but I will get back to you. Thanks Gary
  19. I think Don's foam board is a great idea. Even if it were R3 foam board rather than R6. Once it is insulated with either thickness, I would bet you will loose more heat around the door itself than through it.
  20. I have a TekStyle cover that I bought used off a fellow comanche member. I am pretty happy with it. It is nothing but a cover and some aluminum rails. So I would not be suprised if you could still special order one from the manufacturer. Here is a link with a pretty good photo on it: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=21903

    Jeep Trailer

    Wow!
  22. I went there last summer. I have traveled to Kauai (the most natural island of Hawaii). If you have ever seen the movie Six Days, Seven Nights with Harrison Ford. Indiana Jones, Jurrasic Park. All of those were filmed there. Toured it by helicopter. Cruised the Caribbean numerous times. Moab is by far the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Bring the best camera you have and know how to use it. don't go without buying the book "Moab, UT Backroads & 4-Weel Drive Trails" by Charles A Wells. Get it before you go and study it long before you leave. The more challenging trails require as much skill as they do sturdy equipment. But there are some that are very easy. I drove a fairly easy trail with a rented stock JK rubicon. I was with another group and once I was finished, I felt I could do something much more difficult. I went on Hells Revenge on a tour. I didnt drive it. It was beautiful. Had I gone with experienced drivers and had my own JK, I would have driven Hells Revenge. The slick rock in Moab is anything but slick. I have a stock JK Rubicon and if I had the axles locked on a steep piece of slick rock, I have no doubt it would flip backwards before it slipped. My stock Rubi could do HR and so could your MJ. A couple of tidbits: On hells revenge, you will see fossilized dinosaur tracks. 27 oceans have came and went during the earth's history in Moab. don't go out alone. I don't recall how big it is but imagine the northern half of Indiana and that is how big it feels. You may be out all day long and not see anyone. Cell phones are useless in most places. A CB wouldnt hurt. If your rig breaks down on you, it could be days before you run into someone. People die out there. Two died while we were there. I can post some trip photos if you wish. Oh and there is a pizza resturant in downtown Moab. I can't remember the name but it sucks beyond imagination.
  23. Why do people hid their license plates when they post pics of their vehicles? License plate numbers are public information. I don't understand what you gain by hiding them. Anyone? :dunno:
  24. Short version.... They had a popularity contest for people who could buy as many cheap, shiny, low quality parts and strap them on the rigs... Darren registered a pile of accounts, got his truck in the contest and voted for himself repeatedly. Some people got all butt hurt over it... That is true but you are excluding the best part. The best part was his apology. It was almost verbatum the same apology from Tiger Woods when he messed around on his wife. :rotf:
  25. They look like they came with the truck.
