there was a local guy that swapped a commando body onto a JK frame and drivetrain. from 30 feet, it looked like it had just been hauled off the back 40; nicely patina'd body, steel wheels, looked just right to me

last i heard, this got drawn and quartered, before heading to the junkyard in the sky :(

this is true. seatbelts are one of the most crucial safety areas. however, I don't have those bolts. I guess my original post was vague; the coffee can of rusty bolts was terribly incomplete. I have been using grade 8 bolts wherever strength has been important, and this is one of those areas. I found one post that mentioned that these were 7/16ths bolts, but have not been able to find anywhere else that confirms that measurement.

long story short, the previous owner stripped the interior out and gave me a coffee can full of rusty bolts. What size bolts do i need to attach the seatbelts to the interior? the reel is in place, it is just the other 2 bolts that need to be bolted down. ive found answers to what size torx bits will remove them (either t45 or t50), but id much rather put in some hex heads back in there. thanks!

this is exactly what i want. bigger memory card too.

this was mentioned in another thread i was reading, but the fact that i would have to erase the memory card each time it fills up is a turn off. also, theyre like 300 for the new ones. if there was a way to have it send the footage directly to a harddrive in the car, then we might be onto something.

yea i could do that, but id would run into the same issues. and i would forget to erase the card when it fills up. some that i have read about record up to 5-6 hours, and then start writing over the first stuff UNLESS you tell it to recall the data. i would rather go this route. I would also like something that is discrete, not because i need to hide it in my DD, but because my fiance drives a wrangler with the top off during the warmer months.

its a very real possibility. and I'm not saying that its impossible, but driving in Utah has made me a very observant driver. to the point that i can usually identify someone who is going to cut me off before they are a direct hazard. but I'm not perfect (far from it). I'm honestly more concerned about my fiance than myself. she drives more highway miles than i do, and encounters more idiots than i do. just today, she got cut off by someone pulling a trailer, pulled out from a street on the left, directly into her lane. luckily she was able to swerve at the last second, and luckily it was into an open lane, and not into the side of someone else car. obviously a dash cam wouldt have saved her from an accident had one occured, but it would be solid evidence if something had happened.

It seems like everyday, either myself or my fiance have a close call with other drivers not paying attention and almost hitting us while driving; either cutting us off, pulling out in front of us, or just generally being a bad driver. Luckily we have been able to swerve or slam on the brakes and avoid an accident, but eventually we won't be so lucky. So, I'm thinking its time for dash cameras. Do any of you use them? are there certain things to look for when shopping around for them?

look up the XJ-R build. theyre dominating the east coast grassroots motorsports challenge in a 2wd cherokee. lots of awesome tips there, especially suspension stuff.

had a 2000 laredo with the 4.0. got it with around 51k on it and it now has close to 200k, although my fiance's brother now drives it. rebuilt the trans once at aroun 70k. drove it cross country, wheeled it all over utah, road tripped it everywhere else. Loved it, to the point that i want to get another for DD/light wheeling duty.

...were those not the terms for everyone before?

thats very fixable, unless theres some other stuff we're not seeing
