1. facebook is what you make of it.
2. I ask because tires can have a funny way of making things look worse than they are. I would jack up the front end on a pair of jackstands and check the toe with a tape measure.

4. what's your toe and caster set to?
5. Will it handle being locked and 37s? plenty of guys out there running 35s. not sure how many have 37s. :dunno: how long it survives depends entirely on how you wheel.
6. yeah, it kinda sounds like you had a defective axle. :dunno: what about another Dana 30 and just add a truss?
7. cool! learn something new everyday :D
8. sure thing :D
9. you need to shrink it first. the forum software doesn't do it automatically to the avatars. I think the limits are 150x150 pixals. or you can email the fullsize image to comancheclub@hotmail.com and I'll take care of the rest.
10. awesome!
11. are you using Tapatalk to browse the forums on your ipad?
12. gotta click on the "image" button (located above the text box) and put your address into the pop up window.
13. then go with the 235/75, 245/70 or even a 245/75. the 245/75s are about the same size as most 31s and might rub the control arms a bit at full lock got 245/70r16s on my cherokee with no contact.
14. 30x9.5s won't rub anywhere. 31x10.5s may rub a tiny bit on the control arms when at full lock. this can be remedied by adjusting the steering stops of swapping on WJ lower control arms (which have a bend in them for tire clearance) 31s on Jeep rims (from a ZJ) under a stock 4wd with and WJ arms:
15. well you can get tapatalk for your daily comancheclub fix.
16. I would check the level of the oil in the trans before contemplating a swap. mine always gave me fits when the level dropped.
17.
3.73 is one of the hardest ratios to find in a HP Dana 30. I would find one of those before paying money for a 3.73 rear (which is fairly common in an 8.8). although if you don't mind a low pinion, there are plenty of TJ or ZJ Dana 30s that came with the 3.73s. :D

and 300 for an axle that is in good shape and doesn't need a brake/seal rebuild isn't all that bad. be picky about any axle you buy. just because it's a good deal doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea.

18. If a 350 is difficult to keep cool, I can only imagine a 383.
19. all publicity is good publicity, right? :dunno: but seriously, what I wouldn't do to get my hands on that truck.... :brows:
20. It has been done (with varying degrees of success), but it isn't all that common for a couple reasons: -Be prepared to either spend a ton of money, or build everything yourself. nothing is cheap in the land of 350 conversions. -Be prepared to kiss most if not all of your current drivetrain goodbye. It wasn't designed to handle a 350's torque. -Be prepared to fight cooling issues. XJs and MJs go into v8 conversions with one hand tied behind their back because our smaller grill opening doesn't really lend itself to keeping a v8 cool. I don't mean to discourage you, just want to give you an idea of what you're up against.
21. no no. when I said "match" I just meant that it matches a dana 30 in width and bolt pattern and they can be paired together under your truck. you cannot use the 8.8 as a front. regearing is not easy and not for a beginner and regearing can cost 600-800 depending on the shop that does it. a more economical way to do it is to find an explorer 8.8 or Cherokee 8.25 with 4.10 gears already in them and then find a Dana 30 with 4.10 gears and install them. car-part.com can help find them in junkyards.
22. :waving: welcome to the addiction!
23. It's a rear axle. I meant that it will match your front axle in width and rim bolt pattern. Other 8.8s, like from an F-150 or crown vic have a different width or bolt pattern from our Jeeps. what gear ratio do you have now?
24. what is the 8.8 out of? only the Explorer version will match the front axle. and 95+ have disk brakes. earlier ones have drums.

Jeep Book
