  1. I'm a stickler for protecting ears. his family refers to it as an "uncle Pete hat".
  2. fun fact, the hole in the floor for the 4x4 shifter assembly has little to do with the location of the hole in the carpet for the handle to stick though.
  3. finally got my nephew to the local airport with the playground. swings and planes. life is good.
  4. yeah, it's not the best program. kinda a pain in the butt.
  5. also noteworthy is that #8 is a different bolt than #10. not sure if that factors at all into your specific problem, but I got to learn it earlier today.
  6. man, those look comfy!
  7. I think the short bolt is #9 in the top diagram
  8. what a transformation! man does that paint pop!
  9. they come in whatever matched the rest of the truck based on the going rate for them (and the fact that those same tabs are frequently broken), I'd probably use some sheetmetal and a bunch of JB weld to reconstruct what yours is missing.
  10. I didn't say it didn't have drawbacks. but it will protect the rubber.
  11. rubber can last longer in the dry heat if you regularly slather them with a coating of sacrificial grease.
  12. yeah, no one really looks at the local forums. most of us are far, far from each other and those that are close communicate via other means. honestly I'd like to just nix the things and use the Pub.
  13. 'tis a good lookin' Jeep. '8s were always my favorite.
  14. very true, but it feels like there's some sort of theme going on here and that's all I could think of.
  15. I assume that was a Magnum PI get together? this one happened to me on my disney trip. the kids left the in-room Alexa on and it started talking for some reason at 6 in the morning.
  16. from what I've read on KJ pages, do not go cheap, either with the tool or the joints themselves. I replaced mine by replacing the lowers with junkyard arms that had brand new joints in them. no idea what brand they are, but they were new and "free" (I was replacing the arms anyway due to rust)
  17. ouch! nothing like suddenly realizing your giant prop is missing.
  18. about the same as my tent. neat!
  19. MJs had the pedal, XJs had a handbrake

    Old and New

MJs are tiny little things by both today and yesterday's standards for a truck. we punch way above our weight.
  21. dead tree has been obliterated. leaning a bit too much towards the house for my nerves (I'm not a lumberjack, I just pretend to be one now and again ), so we paid a crew to fell it and lop it into rounds and this weekend I rented a splitter and my nephews and I took it from there. should be plenty of wood for a GA winter. the official wood rack is a double row and I still had enough to create a 3rd wall in the treehouse.
  22. you might want to joint a FB group dedicated to that specific car.
  23. the factory switches came in several varieties, like on-off, on-off-on, momentary. I think the defroster is momentary?
  24. interesting. did they just give you a YJ transmission? YJ t-case bolt holes are clocked differently. keep us posted on what you find.
