the stock transmission would have been a Peugeot BA-10/5 axle ratio would have been 3.07 but lots of things can happen in 3 decades so you'll want to check and verify that. the case for the Peugeot splits into a left and right half (the later AX-15 has a front and rear half). gear ratio can be checked by jacking up one rear tire and spinning it around exactly twice while you count the times the driveshaft rotates. If the driveshaft rotates about 3 and a half times, it's a 3.55 ratio. if it spins around a bit over 4 times it's 4.10. etc. Their aren't infinite ratios. the common ones you might find in the various Jeeps back then are: 3.07, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10
  2. I long ago learned that I didn't like owning perfect rides. they sure do put a smile on my face when I see them, but owning one is just too much... pressure. that's why my newest baby fits me perfectly. she's a low mileage, bone stock survivor, but has lots of flaws, I mean character. lots of character. maybe someday I'll get her painted up nice, but probably not. My wheeler MJ fits me too as it's a pile of rusty crap. I will forever try to maintain the original body lines, but I will not shed a tear if I run up against a tree, that's for sure but hey, maybe someday I'll have lots of extra cash laying around and will buy up a show MJ with a v8 swap.
  3. that plastic seat material doesn't survive very well. If I were in the same boat, I'd try to hunt for a pair of later cloth seats for the upgrade in comfort.
  4. I plopped a round carb style assembly on top of my throttlebody. it's minimal and the whistle from the TB is irritating as all get out. plus the hood limits the size of filter and I'm pretty sure it has fewer square inches than stock. what I plan to do in the future is a filter assembly inside the cowl. I've seen it done plenty of times. gets the filter up as high as possible and out of the engine bay's heat.
  5. that was my first thought, but wasn't sure. looks fantastic
  6. the auto parts stores will run a more thorough check of the batter for free. also be sure to clean the connection between the cables and the terminals.
  7. Of course you are. I'm still stuck in Michigan. But I am working on getting back.
  8. no sweat.
  9. bad floors could be any MJ. how are the undersides? rockers? not even sure why I'm asking at this point since there's no way I'm going to drive there and buy it. forever the optimist! lol
  10. gl5 is never harmful to gears or bearings. it's harmful to brass and bronze (used in the AX-15).
  11. Children of the Corona
  12. is it rust free? I know I'd probably want minty money if it was. that'd be a prime candidate for a restoration!
  13. I think the 35 calls for 80/90?
  14. this! I imagine there will be an influx of these hitting the used markets in the coming years
  15. you need to start a build thread for it
  16. love it! what's the striped pattern by the dials?
  17. can't remember if I posted it yet, but once more in honor of the concert I almost got to see (one of the first things canceled due to the pandemic)
  18. welding blankets are your friends
  19. that's a winner if I've ever seen one!
  20. added a new circuit for the fridge the other day. today I ran a new 20amp for the washer/dryer. oh, and I hooked up the outlets I installed in the basement years ago when I rebuilt that wall. ran out of electrical work I can do without running to a store. oh well.
  21. that's because floors can rot out from rain + cab leaks. other rust areas usually require salt to rot out.
