  1. I wonder if there's a common wiring issue that can cause that.

  4. thanks! ordered. let this be the last of my fuel delivery struggles.
  5. just to wrap up this thread, but none of the typical ways to pull gas from a tank will work if there's not really any gas in the tank (previous owner slapped an XJ sending unit in there and it was all sorts of wrong including showing a full tank on the gauge)
  6. not that I've got the tank down I can see a lot of rust inside. do any of the aftermarket tanks have the factory sump area? the ads don't really share pics of the insides. lol
  7. and a faulty fuel gauge. I'm assuming my brand new MTS assembly is correct?
  8. make sure you wash up inside the bedsides and inside the rockers and frame and doors.
  9. tried a drill transfer pump and got nowhere fast. managed to get a hose down the fill tube and the end got wet, but wouldn't pull anything. might have ruined the pump but ran out of warmth and light to diagnose. I'm starting to think the fuel gauge is lying to me about being full. tomorrow (or the next decent day) I'm going to just crack the gas pump opening and see what happens. If I lose a bunch of gas into a tote, so be it. on a side note, my spare fuel tank I've been hanging on to for a decade now appears to have a large rust hole in it, so that's one less thing I gotta store. yay.
  10. pump does nothing but make noise. tried getting a hose down the filler to no avail. tried sucking through the pump's line. tried sucking through the return line. can't get it to start self-draining. open to ideas so I can drain it down enough to pull the pump.

  12. the tiny cable can indeed break, but it's far more likely that the clip came off.
  13. that's definitely not how that works, but in this case it's fine.
  14. my dad's going through chemo yet again. I feel ya. If you need help with anything, just let me know.
  15. if I remember right, it's a tic over 5 ft. maybe 61"?
  16. I had an injector split on the body and leak. ended up replacing them all with junkyard injectors from an Expedition.
  17. yup, it's a spam preventative to require one public post before messaging. annoying but it works. if you can message me your other account name, I can figure out what's up with it and maybe merge accounts if you'd like.
  18. this is why it's important to own more than one MJ how are they not in the epic section?! man, have I been slacking. I'll fix that tomorrow.
  19. turns out I have several on hand to compare. lol. the one on the left was purchased in 1997. the one on the right purchased in 2024. note the 2 differing rubber trim pieces. the one on the left is definitely factory 88 from my first truck. I've not yet researched what the middle one is, but it is on my other 88 truck.
  20. LKQ won't sell whole cars. but I just saw that the bed has indeed been saved.
  21. weird. have you scuffed/cleaned the contact surfaces at the battery terminals real good?

for example, JJA means you got the cig lighter in the truck. your full build sheet is way bigger than you see. the older trucks are missing a lot of info in the Chrysler compters. check out a 91 or 92 truck to see what it should look like.
