I've flat towed my MJ a time or 2 back in the day. I'm never ever doing that again. there's 0 tongue weight on the rear bumper and that makes driving... tricky. both for braking and for turning. there's nothing helping plant the rear tires and 3k pounds back there trying to push the back end sideways or even pick it up in the air during heavy braking.

Brakes issues on my 90 comanche
Pete M replied to Jossue's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm literally in the middle of caliper replacement on my Liberty due to stuck brakes. they don't last forever. -
chances are it's the brain box. those things are a real pain. most all I've ever gotten from the junkyards have been bad in some way.

updates. removed the rotted exhaust, drilled a big access hole in the fender well, got the CPS out with an extraction socket, fabbed a new exhaust out of straight stainless pipe (still has the bend over the rear axle so I can keep my cool exhaust tip), and reassembled everything and made some promising (and cool sounding) trips around the block. but she's been sitting for a while when I was working on Breanne's MJ. a little too long. 3 of my 4 calipers seized up on me on the inaugural shakedown trip into town. tomorrow I address that. but the engine was revving like normal so I might have finally licked being stuck in limp mode all the time.

Lawn tractor crawling Sears Suburban
Pete M replied to ThatJeepGuy's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
can't say I've ever thought about building a 2wd ATV out of a tractor, but it looks like fun! -

July 2025 - A 2000 Swapped Shortbed

fantastic execution! I love it! -
excellent work! are you adding a gutter? it looks like the roof just dumps right onto the stairs.

I have not. his last visit was in May.

I wouldn't even attempt the upper bend. it's not going to be an identical-copy anyway, so in my mind there's no real point to it.

there we go! found 20 for 10 bucks. in a few days we'll see how that works out.

the way I always envisioned it was to make a left and right side that gets welded together (with a sleeve inside at the joint). that way you only need to make 2 different parts (half-a-hoop and a leg) and just make 2 of each.

nice! but holy crap, that price! guess I'll be figuring out exactly how many I need rather than buying a 20 pack.
