  1. that trim panel may not have come from this exact cluster. the hole is missing from the other 4 clusters I have before me.
  2. I'm a sucker for a nice serrated blade, though they can be a pain to keep sharp and so all my carries are straight. lambo or ferrari?
  3. been pricing tires. I think I'll be going with some no name walmarts, as brand name tires are way out of my price range. something that looks cool, but is 100-120 each (plus mounting). can't seem to find anything used in my area in a 265/70 or 275/70. the ol' girl doesn't really see snow anymore and is retired from towing, so I'm not too picky as long as they take a balance and don't look like generic "car tires".
  4. horn works again. and by that I mean I plugged it back in. I had unplugged it during the episodes where the key fobs had stopped communicating and it set the alarm off every time I used the key to open the door.
  5. leds and resistors are installed in the front turns. plus I figured out how to keep my phone holder from vibrating due to the engine. it was nothing a wood screw and a little hot glue couldn't solve
  6. finally installed the trim I painted months ago and figured it was time to change out the turn housings (sockets needed replacement and the housings are practically free if purchased as a unit)
  7. installed a new LED upper brake light, stiffening rails and a second chain for the folding workstation, and a pair of tap lights on the glass so I can see what I'm doing
  8. not gonna lie, I kinda want to try this
  9. um, both? small v8 or big turbo 4 banger?
  10. the 242 is not fully open-open, and will chirp the tires a bit pulling a tight turn into a parking spot. I've been running my 06 Liberty in AWD continuously for years now. IMO best t-case ever (unless you need hardcore strength).
  11. installed new fuel filter and forgot to check for the oring on the water sensor. long story short; I lost a few gallons of diesel on my drive, plus need to order a new filter, plus new sensor because of a horrible design choice in the filter threads. dang. on the plus side, I re-installed the old filter with the plug (comes with new filters) and can at least drive while I wait on my expensive parts to arrive.
  12. creaking is generally metal on metal and could be a dry joint or your springs or something of that nature. make sure to inspect your frame near the track bar bracket for cracks
  13. I would definitely upgrade the efan to a late model XJ fan.
  14. generally speaking, mech fans pull more air than efans. frequently waaaay more air.
  15. I've had bad toe and bad tires cause it. or more accurately, correcting one of those things made it go away. it can be an incredibly frustrating thing to fix because it's likely never a single thing causing it, but at the end of the day, one of the things you address will bring it back under the threshold and go away.
  16. yup. heat can be a real issue. the heat of the engine bay gets directed right down the tunnel along the transmission as you drive. .

    awww....
  19. got a call from a friend that they needed an extraction at the pool. huh? the lift was driven all the way down the hill on the sheets, but for some reason the 5000 pound 2wd device wouldn't drive back up the hill. it just sank right into the dirt. no idea why they failed to use the plywood for the return trip. but honestly it didn't matter because after digging it free it took a group effort of my winch and the lift's drive wheels to get it all the way back up to the parking lot. couldn't get my jack under anything so I had to improvise so I could get a bit of wood under the wheels finally dug it out enough to get it back into the fenced area and then applied osb and winch until I got up the hill like it never happened. (just ignore that pile of destroyed osb boards. lolol)
  20. gotta use all the senses. except maybe taste. probably best to skip that one.
  21. rotate your tires front to back. do one side, then test, then the other side. hopefully you don't find 2 bad tires like I did on a friend of mine's car. thought I had it licked when I found a legit bad tire (popped cord) up front, but the vibration persisted after I rotated it to the back. turns out she ran up a curb and ruined both on that side.
  22. art on my wall is a purpose just not the intended one.
