I went with a rebuild from an auto parts store. after discovering it refused to bleed, I swapped it out under warranty and the next one works great.

bought myself an old (2012!) dive camera. it's slow, but still takes a decent image and lets me snap shots of the kids in a whole new way. the one big issue is that, being from 2012, it only takes non-rechargeable lithium AAA batteries. you know, the expensive things. regular alkaline instantly trigger a low battery alarm. this isn't a problem for me, but becomes a bit of an expensive proposition when handing it off to an 8 year old to use and he swims around staring at the screen like it's a video game or snaps 20 images of the grate at the bottom of the pool. but it's absolutely worth every penny.

item: 1941 International harvester A-14 tractor. one owner. very low hours. only traveled 3.3 miles (vertical). ran when parked. still in remarkable shape. must pick up yourself, I cannot help (bad back and all). located aboard the USS Hornet. other primo collectables available. will not respond to "is this still available". no low ballers.

yeah, Dex is on my list of people I'd like to visit. I only have 5 and 2 halves Jeeps. mostly due to the aforementioned money/space/time limitations. lol

belt squeal is way down from before. still a bit of chirp there though until it warms up. I'm going to leave it alone for now. when I finally get to doing the timing belt I'll replace the serpentine too. that bearing howl on the other hand may need to be fixed sooner rather than later. no clue as to where it's coming from though. I'm trying to get new tires first to eliminate that as a noise.

that's a super tight bend, but I guess it's simply a compromise at this point. gotta do what ya gotta do to get that power.

if you can weld, you can buy his side brackets separate from a whole unit and grab a hitch from an Excursion from a local junkyard. I did that to the 88 I was working on. I used the excursion after failing to find a single pickup that had a wide enough hitch (they all seem to go between the inner frame walls rather than the MJ's outside-to-outside).

this is why I don't like people touching my stuff. the bolt on the left was holding my tensioner pulley in place. the bolt on the right did the same job on my spare engine. a huge thanks to whomever did the timing belt procedure a decade ago and crossthreaded a bolt that was too short to begin with.

don't get me wrong, if you can get more money, go for it. but I'd still keep the truck. wouldn't take much to get it running again and then you have all their money too.

that doesn't sound very "independent".

I might take $6979 if I get to keep my truck with a salvage title (assuming your area allows salvage titles). you can get your truck up and running for far less and then pocket the rest.

where's he located? who's closest that has a bar they can look at?

those are available new. just look on amazon or rockauto or your local auto parts store's website.

don't be afraid to look down south and out west. clean trucks go for less.

the little pedal to the left of your knee is missing? or you're missing the cables that run to the rear axle?

location matters a lot too. trucks cost a lot to ship/fetch. are you advertising on facebook marketplace?

and even some of the things that are the same are worth pulling pics of how bad the frame is? if you intend to seek out another MJ, you might want to wait on parting that one out. there's no telling what you might need on the next

like a lot of old Jeeps, she still looks good long as you don't get too close definitely needs tires though...
