new tanks don't seem to have the mount for the lower end of the pump assembly. cheapskates.

drove over an hour to get to Breanne's MJ (it was soooo much easier when it was sitting in my driveway!) to change out the radiator (which will hopefully stop the overheating) and change the oil (because I was there anyways). also discovered that the front axle ujoint has given up , so that's next on the list (along with adding side-facing turn indicators and wiring in the new sensor so the efan can turn on)

you can easily swap that seatback on to the base of an older bench. all headrest benches should be saved!

there are 2 pieces of metal in the bottom of a factory tank: the fuel sump around the intake and the smaller brace for the bottom of the pump assembly. most aftermarket ones seem to do away with the pump brace.

how deep is the gas in the tank?

check compression first. maybe a leakdown too.

there might be a 3rd length out there. I screwed up and sent out the wrong visors for recovering (for the 88 I'm working on) and they are now too long. previously the truck had the cardboard style that the ends were a couple inches apart and now they practically touch and necessitated clips that are a one-piece mold instead of the previous 3 piece style.

I would address the issues one at a time before dropping change on an engine. a new block isn't going to fix an old radiator or sparkplugs or sensor that needs adjusting.

no one cares. most think it's a toyota.

I just did a pump swap on a clean southern truck this past year. ended up replacing literally all of it: tank, pump, hoses, J-hooks, etc. If I ever have to drop another old tank for any reason, I'm just going all-in the first time. but I guess for a simple gasket change, I might try just the gasket? it's not fun working under there. I don't want to do it twice.
