  1. It's perfectly clean in the Bitmap, but all my photo programs make it fuzzy when they convert to Jpegs (and picturetrail.com will automatically convert to Jpeg if you try to upload a bitmap) . Needless to say, the graphics guy will be getting the bitmap. :) Jeep on! --Pete
  2. The fuzziness of the pic doesn't help anything either. :( Jeep on! --Pete
  3. I made some compromises between what looked good on the MJ, and what I thought would have more visual pop on what equates to a business card stuck to the back the truck in front of you at a stop light. 8) But nothings set in stone yet. Jeep on! --Pete
  4. This isn't meant to be a vinyl sticker, but rather a magnetic business card that members can throw on their truck or leave on another MJ they see in a parking lot. Later on we can work out a more interesting logos for stickers. I thickened the tires a bit and added color to the truck. I went with red because it stands out. I was contemplating yellow, but the red contrasts better with the white background. The image is still fuzzy due to the process by which I upload them to the web, but the end magnet should be sharp and clear. We had some good suggestions in the other post and I wanted to get some final opinions before I send it to the graphics shop down the street. There will be some empty space near the bottom where we can add some text. I added "All Jeep Comanche, All the Time" since I use the phrase a lot. If anyone has any other ideas lemme know. It has to be short and sweet or else it won't be very legible. As far as the internet images go, it's not hard to change the color of the truck if anyone wants their own image to match their truck (within the scope of Microsoft Paint's powers) for use online, I can do that later. But the magnetic cards will all be identical or else it costs too much. Jeep on! --Pete
  5. Were you driving it in 4wd on the pavement? Any rust on the underbody? specifically near the t-case shifter linkage? Did you just try 4wd HI? Or 4wd LO too? Jeep on! --Pete
  6. Personnally I don't consider the waggy front end to be all that much better than a Dana 30 with 297 joints. It's plenty of work to swap one in just to get the same joints and a low pinon. And I wouldn't think too hard about the Toy rear unless I was swapping the front to match the rim pattern. Even if the axle was totally free I'd just resell it to help pay for a better axle. I found a junkyard kinda-near me selling Ford 8.8s for $100. Jeep on! --Pete
  7. As good as the deal might seem, personally I'd still just hold out for a Ford 8.8 and only have to do the work once. Jeep on! --Pete
  8. Or lying because they are sneaky bastards trying to rip you off... Jeep on! --Pete
  9. What's the wheel bolt pattern on that particular Toy axle? Jeep on! --Pete
  10. I recommend an MJ. :D Jeep on! --Pete
  11. I believe that longbed shocks are in front of the axle and shortbeds are behind. Jeep on! --Pete
  12. Looks to me like there's an extra leaf added right below the main leaf. Jeep on! --Pete
  13. Metric tonnes have 4+1. All others have 3+1. But plenty can happen over 20 years in the way of alterations. What axle is under the 86? Jeep on! --Pete
  14. 4wd leaf packs do have about an inch more lift than 2wd models. Also, if you didn't already know, the XJ leaf perches are different width apart, so you can't just get an XJ axle (which are SOA) and bolt it up. Jeep on! --Pete
  15. I gotta imagine that cold rain hitting the back of my neck would get old after a while too. Jeep on! --Pete
  16. As promised, I've figured out how to do colors. The first time it was really difficult, but after all the interior areas were completely monotone, it's pretty simple to change them. I apologize for the "fuzziness" of the images. It happens when I save them as Jpegs. The Bitmaps are much sharper but the file size is enormous and I'd fill up my picturetrail site in a hurry with so many. Factory vinyl graphics are going to be tricky. :( Jeep on! --Pete Here's one in brown: Here's one in red: Here's one with matching flares: And a two tone: And an army green MJ:
  17. Colors will come later when I have more time. Turns out it's harder than I thought. But I whipped up a couple with tread. Jeep on! --Pete
  18. Hmmm, does that $35 include new control arms? Jeep on! --Pete
  19. Got it for $20 from the j-yard and the rear window hinge is broken. But since I own cap, I thought I'd join in. :D Jeep on! --Pete
  20. car-part.com might help finding a new block. I've heard that the newer 2.5Ls are a good upgrade. Jeep on! --Pete
  21. All the numbers were from my 88 dealership brochure. I've never been able to figure out why the GVWR in my 86 brochure shows as slightly higher than in 88, but the payload rating was actually less (1200 compared to 1475). I gotta imagine that you merely need to be in the ballpark. Metric tonne lb 2x4 curb weight: 2959; GVWR: 5165 Metric tonne lb 4x4 curb weight: 3141; GVWR: 5347 GVWR from my 86 brochure (all longbeds of course), no curb weight given: 2x4: 4554 4x4: 4779 Metric tonne 2x4: 5208 Metric tonne 4x4: 5375 Oh, and every single number is for a 2.5L engine. Jeep on! --Pete
  22. 4x2 sb curb weight: 2912, GVWR: 4387 4x4 sb curb weight: 3076, GVWR: 4551 4x2 lb curb weight: 2959, GVWR: 4434 4x4 lb curb weight: 3141, GVWR: 4616 Jeep on! --Pete
  23. Not a clue what font it is. I can't even find it again in Paint or Word. :( So I redid it with new fonts. Squared font: Less formal font: Same font but different location:
  24. Unfortunately the fine lines won't replicate well on a sticker. I've been working on one with thicker lines. Jeep on! --Pete
  25. The Dana 35 is considered weak because it is a light-duty axle that was never intended to handle larger than stock tires. There's no way to strengthen it without a ton of money because there are so many weak points. The axle shafts are weak, the gears are weak, the carrier is weak, the tubes are weak, etc. You can spend a LOT of money and still not get close to the strength of a Ford 8.8 Jeep on! --Pete
