  1. Did they offer to "fix" it for you? :brows:
  2. When you say "body work", does that include welding? It's a rare occurance, but people have fried electrical parts if the welding juice tries to find an alternate path or 2 around the truck.
  3. Keep looking for the 8.8s. They made a butt load of Explorers over the years and it's just a matter of finding a junkyard that doesn't view their crap as gold. car-part.com shows a bunch of v6 4.10/disk 8.8s for under $250, not sure if any are near you though. (v6 and v8 axles are identical except for the brackets you're going to cut off anyway)
  4. Lord only knows. And no one has proven that any of these images will look ok after we put them on a shirt. What's the quality of the files?
  5. The big selling points about the MJ AMC-20 is that it's stronger than the Dana 35 and an MJ one will bolt in to an MJ. Anything else would require all the same procedures (or more) as installing the Explorer 8.8 and it gives you great strength, 4.10s, and disk brakes.
  6. The title I had along with it says "MJ on a Blazer frame".
  7. Wipers, eh? I replaced the little black control box (attached to the underside of the dash with velcro) and it purged the wipers in my 90 of their demons. :D

  10. yup, there are 2wd AX-15s out there. :D I got my hands on a 0 mile one a while back, but had to sell it to raise some funds. I do regret it. :( Oh well.
  11. car-part.com Keep an eye on it and don't limit yourself to just SC.
  12. Take a small magnet to check for bondo/rust in the floors, rockers and above the flares.
  13. Only the 86 MJ has the AMC 20. Could be with either engine.
  14. Then I would DEFINITELY grab that 20 and throw it in. :D You can always keep planning for the fullwidths and sell the 20 later on.
  15. Personally, if I was looking for 4.10s, I'd love to use a 20. But if I was putting all the money into regearing and such, I think I'd rather build up an Explorer 8.8. What size tires are you looking to run?
  16. Nope. No boat or street-box here, but I do have a 3.07 35 of my own in the garage. I'm stripping it of parts and hauling it to the scrap yard. I figure the parts could come in handy some day for someone else on the trail. I own 3 MJs and they have a 44, 20, and 9" for rear axles. :D
  17. I'm modifying them right now! :D Well, ok, so right now I'm typing, but I'm also in the middle of getting the drivers side in.
  18. It's about 2 hours from the MI/Ohio border.
  19. 3.07 ones are only good for boat anchors and mailbox posts. 4.10s can be worth the upgrade in gears. But it is still a 35. :teehee:
  20. Actually he should be crossing the border at Detroit and then it's an hour and a half or so north to Flint.
  21. MJs have a connector in the wire harness just behind the driver's side rear tire. It is notorious for corroding inside and may need to be cleaned or replaced. I had to replace mine in the 88 and found a generic connector at the parts store.
  22. WJ control arms! :D Or remove the steering stop bolts and put a washer behind them.
  23. I count 12 bolts on the cover, so I'm betting yes. It's not to be confused with the Chevy 12 bolt, which is completely different.
  24. "Some"? Could you be a bit less specific? :teehee:
