  1. It'll be an AX-5, but the procedure for the internal slave cylinders is the same.
  2. Ahhh, if they are both 2.5L 4-cylinders, then the 4 speed is an AX-4 and the 5 speed is and AX-5. :D One mystery solved. Now you just need to track down why they couldn't fix it in the first place.
  3. Last monday I think. It was shipped in a small cylindrical tube. Jeep on! --Pete
  4. Yup. I was a couple days behind in mailing it out, but you should have it by now. :hmm: Stupid post office. Keep me posted.
  5. Yup, that is the question of the day. No 4 speed manual trans was ever offered behind the 4.0L and the AX-4 won't bolt to the 4.0L. So is it a Peugeot with a broken 5th? Some really old 4 speed that used to be behind a different Jeep 6 cylinder? :dunno:
  6. And some upgrades to the front axle shafts and U-joints. :D
  7. No prices. It's all donation. Send whatever you'd like. All moneys go towards supporting the site (and paying for the sticks). Jeep on! --Pete
  8. Yeah, the stainless steel band clamps are friggin awesome! I'll be using more of them on the 90 when I finally get to the exhaust. I get them at the local speed shop.
  9. See the Announcement post at the top of the pub. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1569
  10. He says they are both 4.0Ls. Hopefully he'll read my other post and check to see what on earth trans he has in the 88.
  11. Well that's certainly a lame excuse. I accept just about any form you can think of. Cash (american, canadian, euros, seashells, whatever), personal check, Money Order, or even credit cards and other electronic methods through PayPal.com PM me with your address and what sticks you want and I'll PM you back with my home address and/or paypal addy. :D
  12. I remember plenty of people saying they wanted one, but only a couple have actually sent me an address. :dunno: Also, I have more of the Camo ones now too and soon I will have my hands on some 12" decals in red.
  13. I seem to remember reading somewhere that a guy (I think in Texas) simply got his rig plated as a farm implement.
  14. But the debate never really goes anywhere. Both transmissions have plusses and minuses and the debate runs around in circles. This ones stronger, that ones easier, blah, blah, blah. The bottom line is that it ALL comes down to personal preference. Unless you're in some sort of competition where you need to analyze every little detail to eek out a few extra points or shave a few more seconds, then this decision boils down to which one you think is more fun or the least work or whatever the heck you think is more important. You are the one that will be driving it. But as i said just the other day: "if you have to ask, get an auto" (and install a big transmission cooler). Unless you're a die-hard clutch fan, the auto will likely make off-roading more fun for you. For those of us who are die-hard clutch fans, we wouldn't have it any other way. :D The manual transmission is simply more fun for us. But if you're riding the clutch all the time (or if you're riding the brakes all the time), then the terrain you're tackling requires more gearing. Get yourself a 4:1 gear set in the t-case.
  15. I would use the screwdriver as a last resort. It makes the rig undriveable if it still won't come off. :(
  16. What's "Opera"?
  17. Don't forget that the 4.0L takes 6 quarts. :D
  18. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Yes, theoretically. Can you ever prove that an auto in the same position would have faired better? Drive smoother and you won't have that issue. There are plenty of plusses and minuses for both autos and sticks. It should always come down to personal preference, not some particular test. As I always say, if you have to ask, get an auto. Manual transmissions are for those individuals who enjoy shifting and would not settle for anything else. You can have my manual transmission when you pull the shifter from my cold dead hands. As I said before, manual transmissions get a bad wrap when the gearing isn't there to support a clutch. You can't expect to climb a rock face with 35s and 3.07s unless you use the gun-it-and-go approach (which can easily end in breakage, auto or stick). An automatic will just keep slipping and slipping (and building up heat if you haven't taken the proper cooling precautions).
  20. Couple points: -Not everyone driving a stick is capable of driving a stick in a sticky situation -Not every Jeep with a stick has the gearing to support the big tires the owner threw under said Jeep.
  21. It's a standard 3/4 shot. Everybody should have one. :D
  22. If you're talking about the oil filter mount, there are some O-rings that seal the mount to the block. I haven't done it yet (someday I'll get around to it), but I think it's just a matter of undoing a bolt and replacing the O-rings inside.
  23. Why would a mod need to start those? :hmm: Feel free to start posts about anything you want. :D
  24. Unless there's some other reason I've never heard of, the carrier only needs to come out if the cross pin hits the ring gear when you try to remove it. Had that problem with my front Dana 44 with 4.10s. If you keep track of where everything came from (bearing caps mostly) and put it back in the same way and in the same orientation, then the gears should be ok.
  25. Pull the bulb out. :D
