I think beaterjeep has an AAL in there. The distance between the tips of the leafs isn't equal throughout the entire pack. See how Wildman has about 4" between each leaf tip, and yours has about 6", then 2" then 3"? (these numbers are all guesses on my part.)

I can't see the tip of the 2nd from the top leaf. Does the end look like the others and are all the tips equally spaced?

Holy cow, how old is your battery? I thought any modern battery should be sealed.

Anyone going wheeling for multiple days? That's a lot of driving for a single day of dirt.

No, but sometimes I wish there was one. I did find dodgetalk.com and they have a caravan-specific forum, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of day-to-day activity. They have a searchable database though. Or if you're looking for opinions, we've got a '96 and an '08 here at the house and just turned in an '06 so I might be able to help with the differences between the various generations. The best feature ever is the fold-in-the-floor seating. That's on '05 and newer, but it wasn't standard in the early years.

Picture a cavernous vehicle into which you can stuff a whole couch, or a refrigerator, or an engine block, or several axles etc, all the while getting 25 mpg on the highway. :D Mine needs better brakes and an AAL (that rear monoleaf just isn't cut out for my needs). It's not "factory" in the sense that Jeep made them in Toledo. Since they all seem to be on the west coast, I'd say chances are good that the shop was out there. True, you could get a replica plaque made in a shop, but there are others out there. We had a member a while back that had #54

Anyone know if there's a junkyard upgrade for the rear brakes of a '96 Chrysler minivan? I wonder if a complete '01+ rear axle could swap in somehow... Yup, that's right. That'd be the one. If the truck has the tag and is an '87, I'd be far more accepting of the seller's claims.

If the rumors are true and it's an post-factory company that added the ground effects than likely the VIN won't tell you anything about being a Street Comanche. I'd look for the tag on the dash.

I'm not convinced that they sat any lower than a 2wd. If this one on craigslist is an original sans the body cladding, it looks about the same as my 88 (back when it was 2wd). I wonder what he did with the plastic?

I got mine through jcw.com, but I haven't a clue if they still have them. They are technically illegal to run on the street.

These are the rules of thumb for the 2.5L: With the 5speed manual, 4.10 With the 4speed manual, 3.55 With the 4speed auto (AW-4), 4.56 Eventually Jeep gave all 2.5Ls 4.10 gearing. Offhand I don't remember when that was. They also eventually gave up on the 4speed manual and auto.

Yup, that's home grown Michigan cancer there. Truck didn't have any when I bought it (Cali truck that spent most of it's life in Oklahoma). I'll never bring another perfectly good rust free truck into this state. :( But anyway, yes that pic is of my MT truck and it is 4+1. Saying that the MT packs have an "extra leaf" is a bit inaccurate. The main and overload leafs may or may not be the same as in a regular MJ, but the 3 between them are completely different than a regular MJ pack. All MJ middle leafs look pretty much the same at the tips. If one of the leafs looks different at the tip, or the tip isn't equally spaced amongst the rest, then it's been added.

I've never had them sitting side by side, but my 86 Metric Tonne leafpacks have overload leafs that look the same as my 88 2wd. And there's only one overload per side. :hmm: This thread needs waaaaay more pics..... :needpics: My 86's leafs:
