  1. A cursory glance through the dealership brochures says the 4x4 emblem was at the back of the bed for 86 and 87 and then under the vent for the rest. iirc = if I remember correctly
  2. I think my truck is plotting against me. :(
  3. Yes and yes. :D
  4. The 83 Bronco front axle was the TTB (twin traction beam) pile of crap. Not worth it. 1979 was the last year for the solid front axle in half-ton Ford trucks.
  5. Microsoft Paint is generally not very good at resizing images. :(
  6. Better, but the picture quality died. What are you using to resize them?
  7. That's why I use black. You don't need a huge glob of it to seal so just use your finger and smooth it out. Do it right and no one would ever know. :D A tip: keep a box of tissues and a trash can handy. Silicone tries to get everywhere when you're forming it with your fingers and it's real nice to be able to wipe up a drip right away and dispose of it.
  8. Bad news. The gray 89 seats are gone. And the tan ones are of the rocker type, not the straight sliders. :( But the set of gray 99 seats are still there (2 sets actually since I wussed out on taking one).
  9. "Other than silicone"? Silicone is great! I prefer a tube of exterior grade household black silicone in a caulking gun. But you may want to narrow down the exact point of entry with baby powder first.
  10. Which 89? Tan or gray?
  11. vzehler is close enough to me (and right along I-75) that I'm sure we can eventually make it happen without using the shipping companies. :D
  12. This is the right address: http://shup.com/Shup/50532/IMG_4093a.jpg Then highlight it with the mouse and click the IMG tag. In the end it should look like this (except without the @ symbols, I added those so you could see it written out):
  13. To anyone trying in vain to find the C-Rock brace, it's actually spelled "C-Rok". I've changed it in my first post.
  14. The guy who goes by the screen name "Carnuck" insists that the 87 (and only the 87) used the same assemblies as MJs. 88 and up are for sure different. I have not yet been able to verify that the 87s share taillight assemblies (waiting for one to pop up in the local junkyards).
  15. Uh, so there's a 99 gray set and an 89 gray set. You guys reeeealy need to be more specific here.
  16. If all you've done is mud, you'll feel like superman with all the crazy things you can do. :D Inclines that would be hard to walk up without using your hands are nuthin' in the truck.
  17. It makes it infinitely easier for everyone to see all the various stages of your sweet MJk. And at any time you can edit the original post's title to reflect the new mods.
  18. I just brought home an intact 97 XJ header panel, complete with all the lights. :D I'm going back tomorrow for the seats and center console. pics will be posted once I have the whole set. I don't know which stars were aligned today, but one of the pull-your-part yards near me has four or five 2-door XJs in it. I'm going back tomorrow for the 97's seats, but there is also -99 (gray and a bit dirty) -89 (tan and a bit dirty) -89 (gray and a bit dirty) And I swear there was another one but I forget what it was. All 2-door so they fold forward like MJ seats. As I said above, I'm going back tomorrow so if anyone is interested, I'll take the camera and snap some pics for you and do a more indepth check of their condition. It's totally up to you to figure out how to ship and how much that would be. The seats are $50 for a pair at the yard.
  19. The frame up by the steering box could definitely use a plate like the C-rok steering box brace (the spot between the steering box and trackbar mount is the problem area due to sheering forces and the two mounts fight in opposite directions as you turn.). The rest is waaaaay stronger than the XJ. :D
  20. If they look parallel, then I gotta imagine that you're good to go. Got a pic?
  21. Well, go get it. :D mozilla.com I won't ever go back to IE. Then go to the add-ons page and get "adblock plus", "map+", and I like "forecastfox" too. I think the spellchecker is built right into firefox now so no need to hunt down that particular add-on. And crazedlist.org is downright addictive. I can search all the major cities within normal driving distance and after you've set up your search and are happy with it, you can save that page as a bookmark and come back to it at any time. One note of caution, put your cookie setting on either "accept all" or "deny all" before using crazedlist and searching nation-wide. I usually leave my settings to "approve each individually" and made the mistake of leaving that on when I did a nationwide search. I had to OK like a hundred individual cookies. :( Lesson learned.
  22. Yeah, yeah, rub it in. You CO guys see that awesome scenery soooo much that you don't even give it a second thought. :D
  23. That's because everyone moved over here and no one posts over there but new guys/gals that haven't gotten the memo yet. ;) Does your EGR function normal? If you shut off a hot truck for a few minutes, then fire it up again, does it idle rough then? (meaning that the engine isn't exactly "cold", but the computer is still going through the pre-flight checklist)
  24. One quick story on tire balancing. Don't ever just assume that they did it right. My old minivan developed some gawdawful shakes at freeway speeds right after the tire place swapped the directionals left to right (as part of the rotational schedule). I rotated the tires front to back and tried again but the same shaking was there. Took it back to the same tire place to have them look into it. They rebalanced everything and now it rides smooth as glass. Apparently someone was having an off day the first time? :dunno:
  25. And apparently it shouldn't. :dunno:
