I made educated guesses based on where it was leaking and what I saw upon tear-down.

The original gasket was trashed when I removed it, so there was no reusing it. I used silicone to "glue" a new cork gasket to the pan and then reused it each time. If I had to do it again, I think I'd go with the late model XJ one-piece rubber gasket. I did the RMS back in 03 or 04 and it's been too long to remember all the details of what went wrong each time. A couple of those times could have been the same issue that maybe I didn't pick up on the first try. But I certainly remember having to drop the pan over and over. :(

There are like a dozen places for water to come in but by far the sneakiest was the water trickling in through the holes in the firewall area near the pedals. It was weaseling its was past the hood seal (the one at the back of the hood) and trailing down through the engine bay to find a wire or too and following that inside. Sprinkle some baby powder around and check for the water trails. It's the only way I could have possibly found a couple of my past leaks. :thumbsup:

I'm all for personalizing your rigs, but that seems to be a few too many items from the discount bin at the truck stop. :( But hey, to each his own.

Most of those guys are kidding (at least I hope they are. :D )

Took me 4 or 5 tries to get the RMS of my 88 to stop leaking. Things like a nick on the new seal, not enough silicone added in the corners of the pan, or not waiting overnight to let the silicone cure made it a real nightmare. :(

...and full of errors and glitches. Not to mention that it took 16 clicks of the mouse to delete each and every spam bot. Yesterday I deleted about 3000 of them in 15 minutes using the new features of this updated board. :clapping: And with the improved security, I won't have to do that again for a long long time. :D This isn't a "new" board, just a normal update, or more to the point, about 50 updates all done at once.

Yeah, those are the icons for the new-new forum style. The new-old style has them looking like they used to. Just wait til I finally lick this problem and get you guys 3 more styles to choose from. :D (or better yet I figure out how to make my own. Don't hold your breath though, that's a lot of code)

Yup, that's about it. I've discovered that my problem is I'm currently backing up the forums and it's apparently eating up my ability to work on cPanel. :nuts: So I'll attack the logo later on.

I'm actually working on the logo right now. I did it last time, it's just a matter of working through the steps to do it again.

I'm working on loading up new styles (based on this current format). Hitting some walls, but I'll figure this out. In the end I'd like something more, I don't know, "Jeep like", but for the moment I'd settle for options that don't replace this dang blue color. I've been staring at that waaaay too long. :ack:

Please tell me that you had to choose that, yes? I thought I set the old style as default.

I've got one like that too. 720 miles away. Thanks goodness it's only the one and the other 3 are right across the street. :D

Terribly sorry about that. :oops: The old forum software had plenty of bugs in it and it was impossible for me to catch all of them. :( We should be much better off with the new update. :D If only you had known to email me, I could have fixed it 3 years and 5 months ago. :( But welcome to the club! :wavey:

Yup, I know it's misspelled. :D I did it on accident at first, but it was months before anyone noticed it and after it was pointed out, I decided to keep it that way. :roll: I'll work on the search thing. Might be a minute though. I'm a bit overloaded with new info. :ack:

I shiver at the thought of what the answer might be, but... what trans did you have rebuilt? Please don't tell me it was the Ba-10 Peugeot :ack: Also, I have a similar issue with my 90 and the plan is to just disconnect the heater core from the system. :D

I've read that a standard Dana 44 U-joint flange can indeed be swapped on.

No it's not, that's my AMC-20. I'd recognize that Michigan rust anywhere. :D
