  1. Directions alone won't help much. you need a photo program that can do it (and do it well). I use ACDSee and it's as simple as telling it how many pixels high. You can email it to me too. I can resize it and upload it for ya. :D ComancheClub@hotmail.com
  2. Nothing horribly wrong with the adapter U-joints. I ran 2 of 'em for years (adapting to the ford axles under my 88).
  3. Why not just use the factory wiring? the starter already has a relay and fuse. you just need to run your cab switch to it (pulling power from an existing fuse in the box).
  4. Is your factory starter relay and wiring intact? What was the reason for wanting the new stuff?
  5. I don't understand the question. You'll still need a flange adapter. either the bigger Explorer on or the smaller Jeep one. The cop crown vic driveshaft idea sounds intriguing. IIRC, the crown vic uses the correct Jeep u-joint size on their version of the 8.8 and if everything works out right, you just need to grab a couple of cop crown vic driveshafts and have them shortened together (and get the proper 8.8 flange adapter at the same time). car-part.com shows a gazillion of the things available across the country.
  6. Yup, not much harder. and then you won't have a gazillion amps running through the cab. Essentially you just need to run the big power wire from the battery to the starter, with the relay in the middle. Then the momentary switch in the cab energizes the relay. A factory relay works just fine for this. Don't forget the fuse! And then you won't need such a huge starter button. A momentary toggle switch will suffice.
  7. I suggest using a relay rather than running the power directly through a switch.
  8. car-part.com may help you find a junkyard axle. Also check your local craigslist.org Don't fear using an XJ rearend, as welding on new perches is a relatively simple task that can be done at any muffler shop.
  9. If you didn't replace the U-joints when you did the lift, that might be a good place to start. U-joints don't like changes in their operating angles.
  10. Your old man is right. You're really not gaining any clearance by cutting higher than the bottom of the bumper. You need a slider so that any contact is simply shrugged off. Plus too much trimming just looks funny imho. :dunno: admittedly my rear bumper sits up higher than stock so take that into account. I trimmed mine with the intention of 2 more inches of 2x4 underneath of it.
  11. Never ever fix a Dana 35. Not worth the money (plus it's likely bent). Take this opportunity to upgrade and get a pair of XJ axles that have 3.55 or better gears in them. Try to avoid another Dana 35 if you can.
  12. Just as long as you don't call it "reverse rotation". :rotfl2:
  13. Be prepared for flare rub.
  14. I've had a multitude of different configurations in my MJs and the best was a 4way amp feeding 5 1/4" components in the doors and a high quality 10" sub behind the seat. I used to have 4x6s and then 6x9s in the rear corners, but once I added a subwoofer to the mix, the rear corner speakers were essentially worthless. higher frequencies were always muffled by the seat, low frequencies sucked and were drowned out by the sub. So I eliminated the sub's amp and the rear corner speakers and the sound was incredible with minimal space-eating parts. :D here you can see the tweeter location:

  16. Be careful with volunteering to pull people out of ditches. In Michigan, it's illegal to do so unless you're a licensed towtruck driver.
  17. have you double checked that ratio? the 4speed trans generally came with 3.55 gears.
  18. might be easier to just find an XJ with them and use your imagination. :D
  19. Back to the topic at hand... no pictures of the trip yet? :dunno:
  20. What trans?
  21. i hear people say that to, simply not true in my personal usage. i get way better gas mileage in economy mode. rpm's kill gas mileage, bottom line. Not necessarily. Fast acceleration kills mpgs. 80 mph kills mpgs. rpms are generally associated with these 2 circumstances, but are not the bad guys unto themselves.
  22. I think the guy making bedsides has floorpans too. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21774
  23. There should be a button on the camera that turns on the "macro" (commonly accompanied by a little image of a flower), which essentially means: focus on stuff that's close to the camera. Why they can't just say "close up" is beyond me. :dunno: My little Canon has one step further called the "magnifying glass" setting and will focus on things right up the the camera lens. :D

  25. Got a new member request for the old yahoo site today and along with it came this text: My guess usign a free online translator is it's portuguese, but it still doesn't translate cleanly so I'm not sure what it really says. :dunno: Need to determine if this is a real person or a spam-bot.
