  1. soon as I find an extra 25 smackers...
  2. uh, I watched it old school. on the TV. :D
  3. the taller you are, the more top-heavy you are. in my opinion, the front fenders are the biggest reason to get lift to clear the big tires, but you seem to have solved that fender issue already. :D
  4. just saw the guys at Top Gear racing one around a damp road course. those eco tires didn't even try to turn the car. :ack: sorry planet Earth, if sacrificing my family's safety is what it takes to save you... it's been a pleasure but... so long. :waving:
  5. what do you need more lift for?
  6. I don't remember reading of anyone that's done that. I've drilled through the bed for all sorts of reasons, but never the tank hangers. :D
  7. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11693
  8. there are several methods to keeping the axle shaft engaged all the time. I think the simplest is to pull off the CAD cover, push the collar over to engage the axle, then re-install the CAD cover upside down so the fork keeps the axle engaged. I guess if you connect the right 2 vac lines together, you should still be able to get the 4x4 light to work. but there's no real point to having the light, since that big handle next to your leg will always tell you if you are in 4wd or not.
  9. any year 2.5L from any MJ/TJ/XJ/YJ will swap. The better question is, which ones had the metal cover? I don't know the answer to that one. :dunno:
  10. the poll feature is broken.
  11. hard to say. you should get something from it, but since your engine is a carbed engine not a computerized engine, I cannot say for sure what will happen. 2.5s and 4.0s have a computer that controls everything and it expects to have a certain amount of backpressure there. if the pressure goes away, the computer won't know it and carries on it's merry way with its original fuel curve and timing. You should at least get a muffler. and if you have any sort of emissions testing in your area, you should definitely get a cat.
  12. got mine already. :D and with fewer miles. careful, they're almost as addictive as MJs.
  13. you'll know for sure once you pull the cover and look inside  but a quick way to check is to jack up the rearend and rotate one tire. if the other tire spins in the opposite direction, it's open. If nothing moves, put the trans in neutral and spin again. If it spins in the same direction it's posi.
  14. yeah sure why not. just keep a looksie out the window for me. :D
  15. the first one. if you do have a posi, you definitely need the additive.
  16. what gives you that impression?
  17. that's why it's important to have one card within easy reach inside the truck at all times. :D I carry one in my wallet since that is with me for like 90% of my waking hours.
  18. yes that is a perfectly good point for the stands, and the frame (as long as it isn't rusted apart) is more than strong enough to hold up the truck for as long as needed.
  19. gear ratio is the most important thing. either it needs to match your rear axle, or it needs to be a better ratio and you plan to upgrade the rear also.
  20. I'm bummed that I don't have some cool old cars in my repertoire. :( my first ride was a hand-me-down 85 1/2 Escort with a stickshift and the "bigger" engine. but I didn't modify it much so it doesn't really count as a "project". that makes my first project ride my 88 MJ. still an on-going project of course.
  21. the cat won't affect sound much if at all. that's the muffler's job.
  22. if the engine runs fine now, there's no reason why the hard parts won't continue to do so as long as you take care of them. sudden internal failures are rare in the 2.5 and 4.0 engines.
  23. and you'll be kicking yourself again if you get a new ride specifically for the little ones and then fail to get a 4 door.
