No fluid going to rear braskes when bleeding
SBpunk replied to Newton's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Was just going to post up on this. If you haven't bypassed it maybe Hornbrod or someone can answer. The line labeled "height sensing valve" needs to be plugged correct? After that the line going into the load sensing valve needs to be ran directly into the soft rear brake line? -

Man I need to find some good carpet

Hood louvers and raising the back of the hood works sort of. Take some heat wrap and wrap your exhaust. They make stuff just for exhaust usually on motorcycles. Got a crap load of it if you near Enid OK ZJ HD clutch for you fan is loud but works great. Plus you can pretend your taking off in an old fighter biplane to defeat the Red Barron Ford Taurus electric fan if you want to go that route. You can hook it up to a switch and just keep it going all the time or turn it off whenever Other than that just make sure your stuff is cleaned and replaced when they get old. Just because you have low miles doesn't mean your seals aren't starting to corrode. I'd take the time and swap to an open cooling system too.

Man that thing is beautiful. Too bad they don't make them anymore. Then again for 600 bucks new no wonder Warn stopped making them.

Yep or drill a latch for a pad lock.

S10 Gear box, Durango cooler, WJ pump
SBpunk replied to SBpunk's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just a daily driver for me. Trying to improve whatever needs replacing if there is something out there better than stock. Was going to do the Durango swap but turning radius is most important. The stock box is amazing but I thought I read the 2001+ 4x4 s10 boxes were built better. Worse case I'm out 50 bucks and need to start looking for a zj one. -

It's mostly a pavement vehicle. Dirt roads and camping trails so not too worried. But I'll compare and post up when it gets here. Should be today -
If I knew they got them from Omaha I would've just gone direct. I go up there every couple months anyway. Plus the zinc coating would've saved me time too. Hopefully they're coated with something so I don't have to pull them apart and hit them with tractor spray paint like I did the RE springs on my old XJ. I haven't but I'll look into it next time I need a set. My wagoneer is going to need all 4 here soon.

Mine is about done for and head they are a good replacement. Direct bolt in, same turning radius and the internals have a better set up. Not sure on why exactly since I couldn't find any info but for the price / miles figured I'd give it a shot until I can find a cheap Durango box to try and take apart and learn how to remove the stops that kill the turning radius. -
Didn't read through all the comments but I'm sure everyone has told you its a pain to get them to fit. I put WJ leather seats in mine with the fold forward lever. To get them adapted I initial used 1/4 flat steel. Didn't work well and they bent pretty quick. Ended up cutting and rigging up some square steel tubing for the adapters. It raised my seat up a bit (I'm only 5'6 and a half... it counts) but not enough to the point were I couldn't get in and out. That's help up a lot better. The alternative is cutting your bucket seat brackets and welding on the top part of the 98 xj brackets. Depending on how the rails are that might not even be possible if it has the separated rails with the pull bar for an adjuster.

Doesn't the angle or something throw off the leaf spring and can get it jammed up? Asking because seems like a good idea for SOA folks wanting to stay around 5inch or so

Find a buddy in the military (army especially) and see if they can hook you up with sand bags. Get them filled (or do it yourself) and stack about 20 of them in the back. Will settle your springs real quick.

Picked up a few parts from the junkyard the other day. Couldn't get to the Durango pitman arm after about 3 hours so basically walked out with the in-line cooler and a V8 WJ pump (someone got the hydraulic fan already). There weren't any S10 gear boxes but lucked out and found one on ebay with under 100k miles out of a ZR2 4x4 for 50$. My DD is a 2004 WJ Overland that needs special (expensive) mopar steering fluid for the pump. I'm guessing since the pumps are the same this one won't be able to use off the shelf fluids. Not a big deal but wanted to double check and make sure my common sense wasn't leading me in the wrong direction. Depending on if the steering gear gets here today or tomorrow I should have it all installed before the end of the weekend. Can't do much else since I'm still waiting on my leaf springs.....

So I've been calling every Monday around 1400 or so to check in and getting the same answer every time "I'm expecting them from my supplier any day now". Well decided to give it a shot today and finally got something different. They told me they were being shipped from Omaha today and he'll have them Monday. Hopefully its not more smoke but going to call Tuesday if its not marked for shipped. Fingers crossed.

I pulled the door surround stripping from a ZJ. Worked pretty well. Needs to be cut down but way better. Worn in just enough so its not a complete pain to close the door but still gets a nice seal. I snatched a couple of the inner door seals too but they won't work. The door panel uses the inner window strip to hold it up. Only place I've found replacements were team Cherokee at least for the least expensive.

Nope. Said they hope to have them by the end of the month but aren't sure.

SBpunk replied to pitbull4x4's topic in The Pub
Ohh I gotta remember that name. Hopefully I'll see him come across one of the MJ pages Jeffrey S Bordner gives me someone to annoy the crap out of until he leaves all the pages I'm a part of. -
Something I didn't know is the little metal nubs that open the AC system turn the opposite direction (left to close right to open).

Hahahahaha I got deleted from the group because someone asked what I wanted for a lwb roll bar I posted up after getting and the post was removed. Asked why and was told I'm not allowed to sell things. Told the administration I wasn't selling anything but good job on over reacting. Bam deleted. Admins on that page are tools. There's other pages out there with a lot of knowledge. -
Hell Creek stopped selling mj leafs so figured I'd try general spring to get some metric ton military wrapped springs. Was told 4 weeks since they had to be made. No biggie. Sitting at 6 weeks now and when I can get a hold of the only guy that knows anything about it all I get is "they're still at the manufacturer" asked an estimate on how long and was told around 8 weeks. At this point I shouldve just gone with an add a leaf or drove out to pick up some metric tons. Figured I'd share the experience if anyone is thinking about going that route. We'll see how the springs are if they get here before winter...
