The contractor that did the install is on scene now. It appears that when they pulled the cabling for that leg thru, they pulled it a bit too tight  It's been in for almost a year, and I guess it finally chafed enough to make contact. Can you say "spark shower"???

Almost burned down the building at work this morning. This is what happens when you have a dead short on a 1750KW emergency generator feed......this happened about an hour ago, and the conduit is still hot to the touch. More pics at I gotta go change my pants right now  Jeff Image Not Found

I carry a "junkyard" box....it's a large metal ammo box I picked up at a flea market. It carries the usual hand tools, in addition to: torx bit set allen wrenches (SAE and metric) multimeter wire stripper/needlenose/line tool 8 mm combo wrench 10 mm socket (by far the most used tool in the box) paint pen scissors telescoping magnet (I drop stuff alot :D ) small bottle jack that I hide in the bottom of the box and cover up with all the other crap Everything else (the big stuff) I leave back in the truck and go get if I need it: 1/2 drive socket set (with 32 and 36 mm sockets) 1/2 breaker bar crowbars, deadblow hammers pipe wrench hacksaw cordless screwdriver w/ bit set tarps come-along Jeff

Give girsmj86 a ring on that. You're alot closer to him than I am.... Jeff
-
X2  Jeff p.s. let me know how much lift the ZJ coils give you. I've got a set to toss into mine, and am hoping between them and a 1-1.5" spacer I can get 3" in the front. Mine is (was) a 2WD 2.5L also

Drilled out the rivets and pulled the pan thingy last night, but still didn't get enough space, so the rest of the panel is coming out tonight via the sawzall. And I either have to notch out a space under the lights, or nip about 5/8" off either side of the bumper to make it fit inside of them. Think I'm gonna go the latter route.....I think it'll look and function better tucked in flush. Oh, and I gotta loose the spare tire cable jack thingy too..... :D Jeff

http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavist ... n_AX15.pdf That might help a bit ;) Jeff
-
I have to chop that piece out, plus notch out under the taillights. I'll have to figure out some way to seal up under the lights so they are somewhat weatherproofed....I've got some leftover 22 gauge from when I had to patch the floorboard on my Escort I might just pop-rivet in there. I also have to drill out and retap 4 of the bumper mount bolts that snapped off @$%*!#

what rear axle are these?

D35  -
Whatever it's called.....does anyone need one? It's that piece of sheetmetal under the rear of the bed that's rounded out in the center for the spare tire. I'm gonna fab up Pat's old rear bumper on my rig this weekend, and I'll have to loose mine to get the bumper to fit up. If anyone needs it, I'll take some care in cutting it out ;) and I can mail it out. Otherwise, it's gonna meet a horrible death via the sawzall  or cutoff wheel. Lemme know if anyone wants it...... Jeff
-
I still might roll up there and check it out....but I'm committed to getting your old bumper mounted up on my MJ this weekend :D We'll see what happens. Jeff
-
I've got a spare CPS too if you need it, plus a couple spare fuel pump relays I carry with me. Give me a shout on my cell if you need help (but I'm stuck here at work 'till 3:30 or so). Where'd it die at? Jeff

on a riding mower???? boooyah! I do know of two seperate incidents (not me personally, mind you) of people being issued DUI's on riding mowers.
-
I'm ashamed to admit, but if you guys think I keep the engines clean in my Escort and the MJ.....y'all ain't seen my riding mower yet :brows: I get a little OCD on it (but I have to store it outside under a tarp, so I consider it "weatherproofing" it more than anything) I don't think I could bring myself to enter it into a roundy race, but wouldn't mind going to check one out. Add it to the list of things my wife won't be interested in..... Jeff
-
Anyone into it? I just found out we have a state association  http://www.vlmra.com/ Pat! the next race is practically in your backyard, up there on the peninsula. Wanna go drink some beers and watch some 'necks? :D Jeff

between you and Eagle, you guys must have most every MJ covered on the Atlantic coast :D Welcome to the club! and, by the way......."Raven" = Jeff

AX15 bellhousing, YJ vs. XJ/MJ
mjeff87 replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I fergot to verify :dunce: , but from what I remember looking at, I didn't see an external cylinder on it, so it must be in-. I'll call him tomorrow and make sure. Jeff -
AX15 bellhousing, YJ vs. XJ/MJ
mjeff87 replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I eyeballed it, and it's definately an AX15. I suggested he just weld it up but he wants to replace it. It's a bow-shaped crack that runs the entire length of the bottom where it mates to the gearbox. I honestly don't know what's holding that chunk of metal in place aside from good luck ;) Gonna see if I can snag an Xj one out of the boneyard, unless someone on here has an extra BH laying around they'd want to part with (and save my back from dropping a tranny). Either ship to me in VA or I can get an addy for him in PA. Jeff -
Just triple-checking, but better to be sure than not..... I know YJ tranny flange bolt holes are clocked differently in the rear section than an XJ/MJ, but are the BH's the same? and is there any difference between the bolt patterns on a 4.0 and a 4.2? (I'm a 2.5 guy, ya know :D ) Buddy of mine in PA has a Sahara YJ and a cracked BH and can't find a replacement (...a couple places even told him it's all a 1 pc trans and the BH isn't removable  ) Trying to help him out via the junkyard and snagging one from an XJ/MJ. If a YJ does ever land in there, it's nothing but a frame within a day  TIA, Jeff

I just got back in town from a funeral for one of my best friend's (from high school) mom. She was 61 yrs old and passed away from lung cancer, and she never smoked a cigarette in her life. Everyone please take a moment and share it with the significant people in your lives. You never know when they're not gonna be there.... Jeff

Lemme know when you get back in the Old Dominion. The first round (at least) is on me! (<- my new favorite smiley :brows: ) Jeff

No, it's an independant tractor tire place up in Johnstown, PA called the Tire Clinic. I support locals I'm heading up there tomorrow (unexpectedly....death in the family) I'll see if they have a price/size listing. I know my bro was gonna get a set of AT caps for his '02 Dakota, 265/16's or something close to that, and they priced them at around $42/ea. It's not the kind of place that ships stuff, though.... Jeff edit: those prices include mount/balance and new valve stems, too
