  1. There's a bunch of dummy lights in that pod...one for the 4WD indicator, one for the BRAKE light, and a bunch of other stuff that probably doesn't light up on yours (like mine) :D Pop that screw off and hold that front panel up to a light and you can see all the nifty things there. I think there's a seatbelt indicator, and a low wiper resivoir indicator (among other things) in that junk too..... Jeff
  2. I see some beer bottle caps in there too..... I've never taken my bedliner out since I got the MJ, and I don't think I will now after seeing that  I just have to remember to park it facing uphill in the driveway when it rains. If I don't I end up with a swimming pool in the back :D Jeff
  3. They can be a pain, but tire chains on a 2WD MJ are the cat's azz I used them on mine until I converted it, and it dug thru almost everything. Only problem I had was when I got a wheel off into a ditch or deep rut (open diff), but got thru it feathering the brake pedal. When you shovel out the driveway/sidewalk, toss the snow in the back of the bed for extra weight over the rear axle. Over the course of time, it hardens into a solid chunk. Jeff
  4. It *should* be there....you just need the right combo of pushing, depressing, pulling, etc. :D When I got my MJ (second owner, PO died so I really couldn't ask him about it), I couldn't get the ACC to work. I figured it must not have been an option because everything else was baseline (rubber mat, AM radio, no A/C or power anything). About a year later I was cleaning the interior and must have hit the magic combination because it turned backwards and the radio came on (albeit it was very unhappy about it). Soon after the key got stuck inside so I had to replace the cylinder. New one works like a charm now...so good in fact that I can switch back to ACC then back to off and pull the key out, but it stays in ACC mode. I have to twist the cylinder just a tad until it clicks, then it all shuts off  Jeff
  5. Developed a strange clanking sound inside the TC over the weekend. I was up in PA, in the mountains coming down a fairly steep access road in 4LO, second gear, using engine braking/gearing to keep control. The surface was loose stone, about baseball size, with some washouts…about ¼ mile worth. About 1/3 of the way down, the TC started a clank, CLANK…..clank, CLANK…sound  , like someone hitting the crossmember with a hammer. At first I thought it was just loose stones hitting the underside but I was only going about 5-6 mph, so I stopped and anchored it with the e-brake to see if something was hanging underneath. (note to self….remember to chock wheel next time…..) Jumped back into it about 10 ft later :D , and shifted into 4HI, first gear, and the sound went away. Got down the rest of it alive, back into 2HI, and went on back home without any problems. Drove it 325 miles back to VA yesterday with no issues. Anyone ever hear that from their TC before? After thinking about it some, I *think* it was binding up due to the loose surface and the steepness, like the vehicle weight was “loading” the driveline. I don’t think I did any permanent damage…..probably only went about 50 ft like that  . Woulda been a perfect situation to use 2LO, but I haven't rigged up a manual disconnect for my CAD yet. Jeff Edit: I had the camera with me, but wasn’t really thinking about taking pics at the time. I wish I would have
  6. I suck at the interweb, but lookie at this (almost as good as an FSM diagram :D ) *correction - the upper vac port on the TB housing goes thru the tree, back to the firewall, then over and down the driver side fender to the airbox (not to the EGR solenoid). The lower vac port goes to the manifold port. The larger vac line off the manifold port goes thru the tree over to the back side of the EGR solenoid The line off the EGR goes to the front side of the EGR solenoid Jeff Image Not Found
  7. I'm still suspecting a major vaccuum leak somewhere on the intake, but I snapped a couple pics of the vac lines on my 2.5 for you to reference. On the passenger side of the TB, there are 2 vac ports. The lower one goes direct to the back of the VC, and the upper one goes thru the plastic vac tree to the MAP. On the top of the TB cover, driverside rear, there are 2 vac ports. The lower one goes to a vac port on the intake manifold, and the upper snakes around the back of the TC, thru the vac tree, to the EGR solenoid. Hope that helps Tom. If you need any other pics lemme know...I've got the dig cam and the MJ here with me at work. I can post 'em up in a jiffy (the boss is off today :D ) Jeff Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  8. I've had this dream for awhile now, of making up some sort of cradle to use with a floor jack to lift the front end in one maneuver. Trouble is, I can't weld  Maybe one a youze guys out there (Pat? :D ) would be willing to fashion it up. Basically, I'm thinking an "|__" shaped bracket that you could mount on a floor jack saddle, then position under the diff housing. The vertical part would be the length of the distance from the bottom of the diff to the bottom of the axle tube. That way, when you jacked up, it would raise the front axle level and even, allowing you to slip jackstands under wherever you wanted....without having to jack each side seperately, or raise the frontend nosebleed height to get the passenger side high enough. Thoughts? (yeah, I'm lazy ;) ) Jeff
  9. Great.....I'll take one, please. What's the shipping to 23831? :D Jeff
  10. My MJ sat for the better part of a year like that, with two stands behind the LCA mounts, while I worked on converting it (long story, it was 300 miles away  ) Nothing hanging in the front except the sway bar, and I had the steering bungee corded up and out of the way. Didn't seem to hurt it a bit ;) Jeff
  11. **shudder** my wife and I actually swam with stingrays two summers ago off the coast of Grand Cayman. We (and every other person in the water) were scared poopless for about the first 20 minutes....... I got some good pics with a disposable underwater camera. Glad we did it, but I don't think I'd ever do it again  Hell of a way to go. Jeff
  12. I can get better pics if you need. These are just a couple ones I have handy right now.... Image Not Found Image Not Found
  13. Everything but the rear driveshaft should be bolt-in. The XJ shaft will be too short, so you'll either have to have your 2WD MJ one cut down, or get a new 4WD one. The D30 on the XJ matches the rear end in the MJ gearwise, yes? If it doesn't and you're planning on swapping the XJ rear end in, you'll have to relocate the spring perches. Jeff
  14. you got power down there??? Lucky you..... (I'm at work on an emergency generator now :D ) Stay safe! Jeff
  15. No, now that I think about it some more....it was a Park Avenue, later model. I haven't hooked them to power yet, but anything has got to be better than those stock rocker lights :headpop:
  16. Would there be any worthy donors out of the junkyard that could supply a leaf with a bit more arch than an MJ main (i.e. like an AAL) that I could pull and slip in the pack instead of my old 2WD MJ main leaf? Jeff
  17. I could yank you a 4.10 D30 outta the 'yard down here, or I'll sell you the one that's currently under my MJ as soon as I swap it out (within the next month or so). It came out of the 'yard, as well as the one I'm swapping in with 4.56's. Fear not the junkyard...it is your friend :D $125 either way.....cheaper than regearing. Jeff
  18. One of my favorites from that site.....a Forward Control monster    Image Not Found
  19. Only up to 96 will swap directly. 97+ models are redesigned a bit, and take some fabrication to install. Jeff
  20. Click me: http://www.angelfire.com/nb2/jeeppickups/index2.html Just stumbled across it while searching for Kia trucks.... Enjoy! Jeff
  21. couple pics of them, front and back, and one I stuffed it in the pillar (not connected). I'll have to trim out the hole in the plastic a tad so they sit flush. Jeff Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  22. oooops..... Image Not Found Image Not Found
  23. There's what's left of mine :D Jeff Image Not Found
  24. Well, my *plan* is to do the rear first and see what I get, then match the front height. Hopefully it'll work out about even. I didn't think 3" would shift the axle far enough to warrant a trackbar adjustment...damn. Maybe I should just get an adjustable and swap it in while I have it all apart, JIC I wanna go more later. It'll be one less thing to worry about. Jeff
  25. I don't want to cherry pick it either, just for the good stuff. See if you can loose the whole lot to one person. Besides, I've got my axle swap/regear/lift/tires project taking all my money at the moment LOL. Jeff
